An easy recipe for the best, fluffy, homemade yeast rolls, with simple ingredients like all-purpose flour and sweetened with honey!

Easy Yeast Rolls Recipe

9” cake pans

pastry brush

(or 1 package) active dry yeast

eggs (room temperature, separated)

whole milk, room temperature

honey

all-purpose flour (separated)

fine sea salt

Add a 1/4 cup warm water to a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook attachment. Sprinkle in yeast, gently stir and allow to sit for 5 minutes or until foamy.&nbsp;

In a small bowl, beat 2 large eggs and set aside. Also, have 1 cup of flour set aside in a small bowl.

Once the yeast is ready, add the room-temperature milk, butter, and honey, 4 1/2 cups of flour, salt, and the beaten eggs to the bowl. Mix on low speed until the dough comes together.&nbsp;

Increase the speed to medium-low/medium (speed 3 or 4 on a Kitchen Aid stand mixer), and knead for 5-7 minutes. Add the extra flour as needed, a tablespoon at a time to prevent the dough from sticking to the sides of the bowl. Otherwise, knead by hand adding flour as needed. Note, you may not need all of the extra flour. The dough is ready once it is soft to the touch and no longer super sticky.&nbsp;

Have ready a large, greased bowl. Form the dough into a ball and place it in the greased bowl. Loosely cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise in a warm area for 1 1/2-2 hours, until doubled in size.

Have ready a large floured work surface and two greased 9” cake pans. Punch down the dough and transfer to work surface. Using a knife or a bench scraper, cut the dough in half. Divide each half into 8 equal pieces and roll into a ball.&nbsp;

Place dough balls in pans, spacing evenly apart. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and allow to proof in a warm area once more, for another 45 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375°.

To make the egg wash, whisk together the remaining egg and 1 tablespoon of water in a small bowl. Lightly brush the top of the rolls with the egg wash, and sprinkle with salt (preferably Kosher, if you have it).&nbsp;

Bake for 22 minutes, or until the rolls are cooked through and golden in color. Do not over bake. Place on a cooling rack for 10 minutes. Serve and enjoy.

vegetable shortening (Crisco)

yeast

all purpose flour

Place sugar, salt, 2 cups of flour, and yeast in a large mixing bowl.

Cut in shortening with a long tined fork.

Add eggs, beating lightly with fork before stirring them in.

Add remaining flour, melted butter, and water.

Stir together well.

Mixture will look like a big old lumpy blob.

Cover with a dish towel and let sit in a warm place for twenty minutes.

After twenty minutes, turn out onto a floured surface.

Sprinkle flour over the top and knead three or four times.

Pat out into a square that is about 3/4 inch thick.

Cut into squares with a pizza cutter.

Place in greased 9×13 pan and cover with towel.

Let rise another twenty minutes.

Once again, like the first rising, I pop it back in the oven to rise.

Take the pan out of the oven after it has risen and then preheat the oven to 350F degrees.

Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes, or until tops are golden. Brush rolls with melted butter.

(1/4 oz) Quick Rise Yeast

tbsp sugar

c warm water ((110°-115°F))

- 3 c Biscuit/baking mix

Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Stir in biscuit mix and turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.

Divide and shape dough into 24 small balls. Place on greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes.

Bake at 400° until golden brown, 10-14 minutes.

Easy Yeast Rolls

Ingredients to bread machine

Place first 7 ingredients in bread machine (*see notes for how to make without bread machine) pan in order listed.

Try and make sure that the yeast is by the sugar, not the salt.

Bread machine

Place in bread machine, start white, dough, large cycle (not the full bread).

Prepare cookie sheet

Once cycle is finished, line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, or spray with non-stick spray.

Separate dough into equal pieces

Remove dough from bread pan and punch down, separate pieces into 16-24 equal dough balls.

Form into dumplings

Pinch together bottoms of dough to form little dumpling sized dough balls.

Place on cookie sheet

Brush with melted butter

Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with a little kosher salt.

Let rise

Cover with clean, damp tea towel and let rise in warm location* for 30-40 minutes until doubled.

Preheat Oven

Once doubled, preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Bake

Brush tops again with melted butter, if desired and sprinkle with a little flaky sea salt.
