Easy Classic French Toast&nbsp;recipe that uses simple pantry ingredients, and has a secret ingredient that makes a thicker batter with cinnamon sugar flavors that really set it apart. One of our family's favorite breakfasts!&nbsp;

Classic French Toast

eggs

milk

all-purpose flour

sugar

salt

cinnamon

vanilla extract

bread

Preheat griddle to 350 degrees F or or heat a skillet over medium heat. Grease well with butter.

Add all ingredients, except the bread, to a blender or to a shallow dish and whisk well to combine. If whisking by hand, it's okay if the flour doesn't mix in completely smooth.&nbsp;

Dip bread slices into the egg mixture, dredging them well on both sides, and place on hot, greased griddle or skillet.

Cook for a few minutes, until the bottom of the breads starts to get golden brown. Flip and cook on the other side the same.&nbsp;

Remove to a plate. Serve warm, with syrup and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

Eggy bread, pain perdu or French toast – this classic breakfast dish has plenty of names and just as many options for toppings. We like it with fresh berries

French toast

whole milk

milliliters double cream

tsp vanilla extract

brioche

vegetable oil

tbsp butter

icing sugar and fresh berries, to serve (optional)

Whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Lay the brioche slices in a single layer in a shallow dish and pour the egg mixture over them. Allow to soak for 2-3 mins, then carefully turn over and soak for 2 mins more.

Heat 1 tbsp of the vegetable oil and butter in a non-stick frying pan over a medium heat until foaming. Carefully lift 2 slices of the soaked brioche out of the dish and add to the frying pan. Fry for 3 mins on each side, until golden and crisp, then place on a wire rack over a baking tray in a warm oven while you repeat with the remaining slices.

Serve dusted in icing sugar and scattered with fresh berries, if you like.

The simplest of indulgent breakfast recipes. Serve our eggy bread by itself, with an oozy fruit compote or as part of a traditional fried breakfast

Lightly beat the egg in a shallow bowl along with the milk. Season with salt and black pepper.

Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, making sure it has soaked up all of the liquid. Heat a frying pan over a medium heat and add the butter. Swirl the butter around the pan and when it's beginning to foam, add the bread and fry on each side for 1 min or until golden brown. Transfer to a plate and serve with crispy bacon or fruit compote.
