Delicious!  I’ve made them quite a few times now and I prefer to bake the rolls in a cupcake pan with cooking spray. In the larger pan some of inside rolls were doughy. The spirals stay compact, you can eat them with your hands. I’ve also used pillsbury pizza dough rolled out thinly instead of the crescent dough.

I made this with grùyeur cheese instead of provolone and they were excellent.   Huge hit.

I made this today for friends and they loved it!  The 2 cans of crescents definitely fill up the 9 x 13 pan.  We’re thinking of trying some good hot horseradish in the au jus instead of garlic next time.  Thanks for a keeper!

Instant Pot French Dip Sandwiches are sandwiches made from shredded beef with melted cheese served on toasted chibatta rolls and dunked in the flavorful Au Jus just before eating.

Instant Pot French Dip Sandwiches

beef broth

6-8 rolls (I like Chibatta rolls)

Add broth, roast, onion soup mix, and au jus seasoning to your Instant Pot. Cook on manual HIGH pressure for 100 minutes. Allow for a 30 minute NPR. Remove from the pot and shred. I like to return the meat to the juice, but that is just a personal preference.&nbsp;

To make the sandwiches, you will first want spread butter and sprinkle garlic onto the rolls. Place sliced cheese on the top roll and broil until golden brown.&nbsp;

Once the rolls are toasted, add the shredded meat to the roll to create your sandwich. Use a ladle to put some of the juice from the Instant Pot into small individual ramekins.&nbsp;

Dunk the sandwich and soak up some juice before taking each bite. Repeat and enjoy!

French Dip Sandwiches

low-sodium beef broth

soy sauce

onion (I personally like 2 T!)

oregano,

bay leaf

red pepper flakes

French steak rolls

Provolone cheese (or 12 slices, if you want double the cheese)

Make Sauce

In the crockpot, whisk together the broth, soy sauce, minced onion, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, oregano, thyme, bay leaf, and red pepper flakes. 

Season Roast

Place the roast in the cooker and season lightly with salt and black pepper on all sides. Spoon the sauce over the top.

Slow Cook &amp; Shred

Cover and cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours or on High for 5 to 6 hours, until the meat easily shreds. Transfer the roast to a cutting board and shred with two forks. Return the meat to the cooker and stir it into the au jus (leftover juice).

Toast Rolls

Optional: Position the top oven rack about 6 inches below the broiler. Preheat the broiler. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. Place opened steak rolls or ciabatta rolls on the baking sheet and broil 1-2 minutes until toasted inside. Remove from oven. 

Build Sandwiches

Using a slotted spoon, add a layer of the shredded meat (be sure to drain the liquid first) to the roll. Top with 1 or 2 slices of cheese. Optional: Place the opened up sandwiches back under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until cheese is melted. 

Serve

Serve the sandwiches warm, with the juices from the cooker in small bowls alongside for dipping.

So good! Made this for the first time tonight and the whole family loved it. Even my picky eater!

Made this last week. The flavors were great, and the meat was so tender.  My husband said the beef flavor was better than a beef restaurant nearby!

These French Dip Sandwiches are decadent and mouthwatering! Simply throw a roast and a few other ingredients into a crockpot, slow cook all day long, and turn the shredded meat into the best grilled sandwiches ever.

These French Dips are delicious and super easy to make in the Instant Pot! This french dip recipe only has 2 ingredients, but have so much flavor.

Instant Pot French Dip Sandwiches Recipe

beef roast (chuck roast or rump roast work great)

Place roast in greased the Instant Pot. Pour consommé over the top of the roast.

Put the lid on and turn the knob to sealing.

Push the manual or pressure cook button and set the timer for 75 minutes (25 minutes per pound of roast).

When it is done cooking, let it do a natural release for at least 1 hour. This will make your meat very tender and fall-apart, so I highly recommend it! (Sometimes I will let the roast sit in the Instant Pot on warm for 6-8 hours and it makes it SO good!) Turn the valve to venting to let any remaining pressure release.

Remove roast and save extra juice for dipping! With 2 forks, shred roast (when it is done, it should pull apart easily . . . almost fall apart).

Serve meat on buns and use extra juice to dip sandwiches in.

This recipe only has 2 ingredients, but your family will think you have been cooking for hours in your kitchen.

You can cook the meat when it is frozen. In the Instant Pot you will want to cook a 3 pound roast for two hours. If you are cooking it in the slow cooker, I would highly suggest cooking it for over 10 hours.

Whichever way you decide to make these, you won’t be disappointed!

Many times I forget to throw my food in the slow cooker in the morning. That is one of the main reasons I use my Instant Pot so much more!

With two ways to cook this recipe, I feel like we can enjoy it year round.  I love it because either method keeps my house cool in the summer.  But, it’s nice warm comfort food in the fall and winter.

Instant Pot French Dip Sandwiches (2 INGREDIENTS!)

Put the butter in a big pan and melt it over medium heat.

After adding the onions, coat them with the butter. Cook the onions over medium heat, tossing them regularly, for about 12 to 15 minutes, until they are tender and browned but not blackened.

After adding the thyme, salt, and pepper, turn off the heat and set the mixture aside after stirring to blend the ingredients.

Turn the oven up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Remove the rolls from their packaging while ensuring that they remain unbroken.

To separate the tops from the bottoms of the rolls, use a broad knife to cut them lengthwise in the middle.

Put the bottom, with the sliced side facing up, into a baking dish that is 11 by 7.

Place the onions on top, making sure they are well distributed.

After that, sprinkle on the remaining cheese and finish by placing the top halves of the rolls on top.

Combine the melted butter and onion soup mix in a low-volume bowl and swirl to combine.

You may simply pour the butter sauce on top of the rolls if you want, but I find that brushing it on helps ensure that it is distributed evenly across the surface of the rolls.

Bake for 25 minutes with the rolls covered in foil in a loose manner, taking care that the foil does not come into contact with the tops of the rolls.

After removing the foil, continue baking the rolls for a further 5 minutes to brown them.

While the rolls are in the oven, prepare the au jus by following the directions on the package and adding the water.

The rolls should be served with a garnish of parsley as an alternative, and the au jus should be placed on the side for dipping.

Drippy, saucy, tender, juicy -- we all know and love French Dip Sandwiches, and now we can make them right at home! Let&#039;s whip up a scrumptious dinner!

In a large skillet heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and sear roast on all sides. Add more oil, as necessary, as you turn and sear the roast. Transfer roast to a 6-quart slow cooker.

Saute the onions until soft. Transfer to the slow cooker. Add the beef consomme to the skillet, turn the heat on high,  scrape up all the brown bits left in the skillet. Pour into a slow cooker.

Add french onion soup, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, beef flavor Better Than Bouillon, Italian seasoning, bay leaf, and garlic.

Cook on low for 7-8 hours or high 4-5 hours or until the meat is fork-tender.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Remove the roast and let rest for 10 minutes. Slice or shred the beef.  Strain the cooking for dipping.

Split the rolls in half and place them on a cooking sheet. Spread with butter, place on a baking tray, and bake in the oven for 2-3 minutes or until barely toasted.

Stuff with meat, and top with 2 slices of cheese. Return to the baking tray. Bake in the preheated oven until cheese is melted. Pour cooking liquid into individual bowls and serve.

These toasty Slow Cooker French Dip Sandwiches are made with slow cooked roast beef and served on crusty rolls with melty cheese and savory au jus. So good!

Slow Cooker French Dip Sandwiches

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. While the oil is heating, generously season all sides of the chuck roast with kosher salt and freshly ground pepper.

When the oil starts to shimmer, carefully place the roast in the hot pan and sear it on all sides by letting it sit without moving for a minute or two on each side before flipping it. Searing won't take very long - you just want to quickly brown the roast to add flavor and seal in the juices.

Transfer the roast and the pan juices to your slow cooker. Sprinkle onion soup mix over the roast and add water and beef broth. Cook on high for 4-6 hours or on low for 8-10 hours.

When the meat is so tender that it shreds easily with a fork, remove the roast from the slow cooker and shred. Serve by piling the shredded meat onto sliced, crusty rolls with a slice of Swiss cheese. Toast the cheese and top bun under the broiler until the cheese melts and the bun starts toasting. Serve with the juices from the slow cooker as au jus for dipping.

The recipe calls for 2 - 1 oz pkg onion soup 
Does that mean 2 pkg? I’m not sure if they’re 1oz or not. 
Also instead of beef broth could I use 2 pkg au jus with water?

Earlier in the year, my family and I started making French dips at home. I have tried a few recipes and they were ok. One day I came across this recipe and thought I'd give it a try. We love this one so much. So much flavor and tastes amazing. To this day months later we still go to this recipe for the dips. Thank you so much for this recipe. My family and I all love it.

I love how simple yet delicious this recipe is! I only used one onion soup packet and one cup of water. I also subbed some of the beef broth with broth from a beef ramen noodle packet because I didn’t want to go to the store haha. It still turned out great. I also added some Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor. The jus was remarkably better the second day after I was able to remove the cooled, hardened fat from the top of the container I stored it in in the fridge. I’m wondering if there would be a way to remove that fat before serving the first night.

This recipe was so flavorful and super easy to make. I highly recommend and will definitely be making it again. Leftovers are just as good the next day.

I made this for a family dinner. I was having 7-8 people so I doubled the ingredients, it did make a lot of broth but the meat was so tender and easy to pull apart. Everyone loved it!

I was excited to try this recipe after reading the reviews. I love French dip with as jus. However, I was disappointed. I followed the recipe exactly using the instant pot. I did not taste any flavor except the fat from the meat. Which kind of turned my stomach. The piece of meat I had was not overly fatty either. I’m not sure what went wrong.

This was AMAZING! Super simple and easy to make with a newborn in my arms. Tossed it in and voila, a few great meals for the week. We used leftovers with salads and other sandwiches. My husband loved it!
