(14.5-ounces) cans stewed tomatoes, (with juices)

Heat a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Crumble the ground chuck (2 pounds) into large chunks in the hot pan, and cook until evenly browned. Transfer cooked beef to a paper towel-lined plate. Discard all but 2 tablespoons of drippings from the pot. If you do not have that amount remaining, add vegetable oil to make up the difference.

Add the onion (1), garlic (3 cloves), and carrots (4) and saute, over medium heat, until soft, about 5-6 minutes.

Sprinkle flour (3 tablespoons) over vegetables, stirring constantly, until the flour coats the vegetables. Cook for 2-3 minutes to toast the flour. Remove skillet from heat.

Add beef stock (3 cups), stewed tomatoes with their juices (2 (14.5-ounces) cans), tomato soup (1 (10.75 -ounce) can), Better Than Bouillon (1 heaping tablespoon), Worcestershire sauce (2 tablespoons), potatoes (3), Italian seasoning (1 teaspoon), thyme (1/4 teaspoon), bay leaf (1), salt (2 1/4 teaspoons), pepper (1 teaspoon), green beans (1 1/2 cups), pearl onions (1 cup), and browned beef; stir to blend then simmer over low heat for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

Adjust seasoning. Ladle into individual bowls and serve.

Slow Cooker Poor Mans Stew

Ground beef

½ lb Potatoes

Carrots

c Water

Onion (chopped)

oz tomato paste ((I used a 6 oz can))

tsp oregano

Onion powder

tsp Minced garlic

Salt and pepper

Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium high heat, and drain the excess fat.

Place the ground beef into the slow cooker along with the potatoes, onions and carrots. Stir to combine.

In a bowl, whisk together the water, tomato paste, oregano, onion powder, minced garlic and salt and pepper to taste.

Pour the mixture over the meat and vegetables in the slow cooker.

Cook on low for 7 hours.

Serve with a side of bread if desired.

This wholesome hearty hamburger stew, also known as poor man's stew is made in less than forty minutes with ground beef, fresh vegetables, and a perfect blend of spices, most of which you may already have on hand.

In a Dutch oven or heavy stockpot over medium heat, brown the ground beef.  When it is about halfway through the browning process, add the onion and cook until the onion is soft and the ground beef is browned, approximately 5-6 minutes. Drain any excess grease.

Reduce heat to low. Add garlic, oregano, parsley, rosemary, and thyme; cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add the potatoes, carrots, and fire-roasted tomatoes.

In a bowl or large measuring cup, whisk together the beef broth and tomato paste. Stir it into the pot. Simmer covered for 15 minutes.

Add the peas and simmer covered until the potatoes and carrots are tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

I found this hamburger stew recipe only today and I've decided to make it but I substituted the peas for the 1/2 cup to a 1 cup of broccoli 🥦 and let it finish cooking and simmering with the seasoning and potatoes and carrots and this actually is good with buttermilk biscuits thanks for the recipe God bless you yours in Christian love chef cherrie

Add in chopped potatoes, carrots, onion, and diced tomatoes.

Pour in beef stock, worcestershire sauce, beef stew seasoning mix, and bay leaf and gently stir to combine.

Bring the stew to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 25-35 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender. The cook time may vary depending on how large the vegetable pieces are.

Ladle the stew into bowls and serve hot. Enjoy!
