Prep a grill to medium-high heat and brush grates with oil.

In a small bowl, add all the spices and carefully whisk to thoroughly combine.

Place chicken breasts between sheets of plastic wrap and pound with a meat mallet until even in thickness.

Coat each breast with a thick layer of Harissa rub, then place on the grill, evenly spaced, and cook for 4 minutes per side, or until a meat thermometer registers 165 degrees.

Remove from the grill and allow to rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

This does sure look good. I've not yet tried harissa, it sounds like something we'd like. I haven't been as adventurous since I assumed I'd love saffron, seeing how people rave about it, and made an expensive recipe nobody would eat. Thanks to harissa paste, this easy grilled chicken recipe is all the flavor! Slightly sweet, smoky, tangy, and just enough spicy. Serve it over quick-cooked couscous, a side of veggies, or with your favorite Mediterranean salad.

Grilled Harissa Chicken

boneless, skinless chicken thighs ((about 2 lb))

Kosher salt

garlic

½ red onion (sliced)

½ tsp coriander

½ tsp black pepper

tsp smoked paprika ((or 1 tsp sweet paprika))

tsp cumin

½ tsp cayenne (or more to your liking)

harissa paste

lemon

olive oil

Pat the chicken dry and season with kosher salt on both sides.

Place the chicken in a bowl and add garlic, onions, spices, and harissa paste. Add lemon juice and a generous drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

Heat an outdoor grill or an indoor griddle to medium-high heat (between 400-450 degrees Fahrenheit) and be sure to lightly oil the grates. Grill for 6 to 7 minutes or so on each side or until the chicken is fully cooked (using an instant read thermometer chicken&#039;s internal temperature should register 165 degrees F at the thickest part).

Sheet-pan Harissa Chicken ( or tofu, or fish!) and Sweet Potatoes takes about 10-15 minutes of hands on time before going into the oven to bake. Mildly spicy and smoky, the quick harissa marinade is easy and simple- just stir it up in a bowl. Sub tofu or white fish instead of chicken for vegans!

Sheet-Pan Harissa Chicken &amp; Sweet Potatoes

garlic cloves- finely minced or crushed

salt

smoked paprika

chili powder

chipotle powder

caraway seeds

apple cider teaspoon vinegar

yogurt

Cilantro – (about 1 cup packed, tender stems ok) finely chopped

jalapeno (optional)

teaspoon coriander

lemon juice

tablespoon olive oil

Stir marinade ingredients together in a small bowl.

Dice the sweet potatoes into  ½-¾  inch cubes and place in a medium bowl with half the marinade and toss to coat. Place them in a single layer on one side of a parchment lined sheet pan.

Cut the onion, and place next to the sweet potatoes, drizzle with a little oil if you want (or not), saving room for the chicken.

Pat the chicken dry, season with a pinch of salt and pepper and place in the same medium bowl and add the remaining marinade, coating all sides well.

Line up next to the onions. If using very small sheet pans, you may need to use two. Do not overlap!

Place the sheet pan in the oven and bake 30 minutes but check after 20, rotating the pan if necessary.

While baking, make Green Harissa Sauce, blending all the ingredients in the blender.

Double-check that the chicken is cooked through before serving, and for extra crispy skin, broil for a few minutes at the end.

Divide the roasted sweet potatoes among 4 bowls and top with the chicken. Garnish with cilantro and serve with the  Green Harissa Yogurt Sauce

The harissa marinade is so tasty.  I think I will try it with some shredded lamb with tzatziki in wraps with the green harissa sauce.

Begin by making the meatballs. Preheat oven to 400℉ and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a medium bowl, combine the ground chicken, harissa, garlic, onion, parsley, dill, mint, salt, and pepper. Mix with your hands until just combined. Wet or oil your hands to make the rolling process easier, and roll into 12-14 meatballs.

Heat a large nonstick skillet or cast iron pan over medium to medium-high heat. Add olive oil. Once hot, add the meatballs and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until deeply golden brown. Transfer meatballs to prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until cooked through.

While meatballs are baking, make the cucumber herb salad. In a small bowl, stir together the diced cucumber, lemon juice, red onion, dill, and mint. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

To assemble bowls, spread a generous dollop of hummus on the bottom of your bowl. Top with couscous or your preferred bowl base, followed by a few scoops of cucumber herb salad and the meatballs. Sprinkle with crumbled feta and torn fresh dill and mint. Drizzle on a little harissa paste if you’d like. Drizzle bowls with a little extra virgin olive oil and a squeeze of lemon. Serve with extra lemon wedges.

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and position a rack in the center of the oven.

Toss the chicken thighs with the harissa in a large bowl. Heat 2 teaspoons of the olive oil in a 12&quot; or larger oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is just barely smoking, add the chicken thighs to the pan in a single layer. Let cook undisturbed for 2 minutes. Turn the thighs over and cook for another 2 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside on a plate.

Add the remaining teaspoon of oil to the pan along with the carrots and cauliflower. Saute for 90 seconds. Add the chickpeas and toss well. Place both lemon halves in the pan cut side down, snugly against the bottom of the pan so the fruit will caramelize in the oven.
