In the inner liner of your Instant Pot, add all ingredients except lime juice and ice.

Cook at high pressure for 4 mins, allow 10 mins NPR&nbsp;and then release all pressure.

The flowers will have settled to the bottom. Decant the liquid into a glass pitcher and when cool, add lime juice if you want a little more acidity.

This is a semi-concentrate, so serve over ice.

To make this hibiscus drink, start by taking 3-4 flowers per cup of tea. I took 8 flowers to make 2 cups of tea. Remove the calyx or the green part from which the flower is attached to the plant.

Also remove the stamen, the part from which the yellow seeds are attached.

Wash the petals well under running water and add them to a medium-sized glass bowl.

Boil 3 cups of water in medium-sized saucepan water and once it comes to a rolling boil, remove it from heat.

Pour the boiling water over the petals.

Cover the bowl and let the color from the flowers steep into the water. Steep for 10-12 minutes.

Strain the tea using a tea strainer. Add lime juice to it and mix well. Add honey or sugar if you wish to at this stage and mix well.

Now add some ice cubes to the serving glasses, pour the tea and serve.

It is very easy to make hibiscus tea; all you need is a pan, water, hibiscus flowers, and sugar or honey. Let us take a look at the step by step process of making the tea at home.&nbsp;

On the stove, keep a pot of water to boil. Meanwhile, keep all the ingredients ready for the recipe, if you haven't.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Take 2 tsp of dried hibiscus flowers, which equals to 10 ml of the same (to be more accurate), and add it to the boiling water. You are free to add more or less of the hibiscus flowers, depending on how strong you want your tea to be. It's important to note here that hibiscus tea doesn't have caffeine, so adding a lot of it won't harm your health.&nbsp;

Once the water is boiled, pour the water slowly and steadily into a teapot. Make sure you have worn mittens/gloves to protect your hands from any kind of burns.&nbsp;

If you want to add caffeine to your tea, add a teabag to the concoction. Allow it to steep for five minutes.&nbsp; While you wait, the hibiscus flowers will give the water a somewhat sharp, zingy taste.&nbsp; If you wish your tea to be strong, allow it to steep for more than 5 minutes.

Once done, pour the tea into your cup, using a metal strainer. If your teapot has an in-built filter, the process will be way easier. Some people like to chew the hibiscus petals and don't prefer to strain them. You can try that as well if you like.

Don't forget to add your preferred sweetener to the beverage. Try it with honey if you can, as it goes very well with the zestfully tart flavor of the tea. You can add sugar or stevia as well, depending on your choice.&nbsp;

Heat water in a saucepan or microwave until hot but not boiling.

Remove from heat and add the hibiscus flowers and ginger. Steep for 2 to 4 minutes.

Juneteenth Southern Hibiscus Sweet Tea

tea bags (hibiscus teabags - 4 large (family-size) or 8 small)

Cut the strings off the tea bags. (Careful not to cut the hibiscus tea bag because you don’t want dried hibiscus flowers floating around in your tea!)

Open the Instant Pot lid and pour the water into the stainless steel inner pot. (Or, if using the stovetop, add all the ingredients to a large pot, steep/soak the tea bags in the boiling water for 30 minutes, and move on to step 8.)

Then stir in the sugar and baking soda and add the tea bags.

Close the Instant Pot lid (make sure the valve is up – in the position for sealing) and pressure cook on high for 4 minutes.

When the cooking time is finished, allow a natural pressure release for 15 minutes.

To open the Instant Pot lid, move the valve to ‘venting’ and manually release any remaining pressure, if applicable.

Using oven mitts, remove the inner pot from the Instant Pot burner.

Use a slotted spoon to remove the tea bags from the pot.

Pour the tea into a pitcher and optionally add a lemon slice or fresh mint.

Serve Southern hibiscus sweet tea over ice, and enjoy!

If using fresh hibiscus flowers, remove the calyx or the green part at the base of the flower to which the stem is attached. You can also remove the pistil which is the thin thread like tube in the middle of the flower which has pollens attached to it or you can choose to keep it. You don&#039;t need to do this if you are using dried flowers.

Boil the tea

Bring the hibiscus flowers and water to a boil in a large pot. Once the water starts boiling, switch off the flame and cover the vessel. At this point, you can also add other herbs or add ins such as basil, lemon grass, lemon zest etc. Let the tea steep for 15-20 minutes. Mix in the honey and lime juice till completely combined. Strain the tea.

Serving Hibiscus Tea

You can either serve hibiscus tea warm or you can chill it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. Either way it tastes delicious!

To a large pot, add the water, flor de Jamaica, and any add-ins of your choosing. Bring everything to a low boil, then turn the heat down to simmer for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, shut the heat off, stir in the sugar, then allow the mixture to cool. The concentrate is ready when the flowers sink to the bottom.

Once steeped, pour the concentrate through a mesh strainer into a large mason jar or pitcher. Add another 3-4 cups of water into the jar (or to taste) and stir well.
