Best Belgian Waffles Recipe

all purpose flour

Hand Beater

Mix first 4 ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder and salt) in a large bowl and set aside.

Add egg whites in a medium bowl and beat with a hand held electric beater, until thick peaks form, set aside.

In a seperate medium bowl, add egg yolks, milk and melted butter, beat with the same electric beater (on the lowest setting), until lightly foamy. Pour into the flour mixture and mix until almost combined (don't over mix).

Using a rubber spatula, fold in the egg whites (don't over mix).

Make waffles according to manufactures instructions, until deep golden brown (it took about 6 minutes in my waffle iron).

Belgian Waffles are both hearty and fluffy - the best of both worlds! This classic breakfast staple is made with a handful of ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen. Top them off with syrup, berries, and whipped cream for the best bite!

Belgian Waffles Recipe

all-purpose flour (240 grams)

sugar (50 grams)

baking powder (12 grams)

eggs (50 grams, room temperature and separated)

milk (341 grams, room temperature)

unsalted butter (113 grams, melted and slightly cooled (1 stick))

pure vanilla extract (8 grams)

Preheat

In a large mixing bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together until combined. Create a well in the center of the bowl and set aside.

In a second, smaller bowl, mix the egg yolks, milk, butter, and vanilla together, whisking to combine. Add the contents of the bowl to the dry ingredients and whisk until combined.

Whip

Place the egg whites in a small bowl and whip with a whisk or hand mixer until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped whites into the waffle batter.

Cook

Cook ½-¾ cup of batter in the hot waffle maker until cooked through and golden brown.

This is the best one I've tried yet!  I did use self rising flour because it was all I had, and cut the baking powder to 1 teaspoon.  It did not need the vanilla at all.

Was not a good recipe, came out extremely watery and would not thicken 👎

Belgian Waffles

In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, ¼ cup granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon baking powder, and ½ teaspoon salt. Set aside

Crack and separate 2 large eggs. Place the egg yolks and whites into two different mixing bowls.

Beat the egg whites with a hand mixer until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to over-mix! Set aside.

Add 1 ¾ cups milk, ½ cup vegetable oil or canola, and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract to the bowl with the yolks, whisking well to combine.

Add the flour mixture to the milk mixture and stir, just until incorporated.

Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter.

Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer&#39;s instructions and spray it with non-stick cooking spray. Pour the batter into the hot waffle iron. Cook until golden on the outside.

My girls helped me make these and LOVED watching the egg whites get to stiff peaks! I added a tbsp each of sugar and vanilla to the batter. So good and so versatile! Next time we might add blueberries.
