Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce (Chocolate Sauce)

chocolate chips ((115 grams))

sugar ((100 grams))

heavy cream ((120 milliliters))

corn syrup

Tablespoons cocoa powder¹

salt

vanilla extract

unsalted butter

Combine chocolate chips, sugar, heavy cream, corn syrup, cocoa powder, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat.

Cook, stirring frequently, until chocolate is melted and sugar is dissolved.

Bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes. Remove from heat.

Add butter and vanilla extract. Stir well. Mixture will be very thin/liquidy, but will thicken and become fudgy as it cools. Allow mixture to cool to desired consistency before serving over ice cream. If cooled completely, fudge will be too thick to pour and you will want to heat in the microwave for several seconds before serving (it is supposed to be “hot” fudge, after all).

Ingredients
2/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips 115g
1/2 cup granulated sugar 100g
1/2 cup heavy cream 120ml
3 Tablespoons light corn syrup
2 Tablespoons cocoa powder¹

1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons unsalted butter


Instructions

¹You can use natural or Dutch processed cocoa powder, I personally prefer the taste of Dutch processed in this recipe
Leftover fudge sauce will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks.

How to Make Hot Fudge Sauce

Homemade Chocolate Sauce

cocoa powder

sugar

water

vanilla

In a cold saucepan, whisk together the cocoa and the sugar until all lumps are removed. Add the salt and the water and bring to a boil over medium-medium high heat. 

Reduce to a gentle simmer; stirring constantly. Simmer for about 30 seconds and then remove from heat. Let cool and then add in the vanilla.

Pour into a glass jar and allow to cool. {The chocolate sauce will be very thin when it finishes boiling, but it will thicken quite a bit as it cools.}

Refrigerate until needed.

Homemade Chocolate Sauce Recipe

heavy cream

TBS salted butter

honey

brown sugar

sea salt

oz semisweet chocolate ((about ⅔ cup chocolate chips))

tsp vanilla extract

In a small saucepan, mix together heavy cream, butter, cocoa powder, honey, brown sugar and sea salt.

Warm the mixture over medium heat until the butter is melted and it just beings to bubble around the edges, whisking often.

Turn the heat to low and simmer on low for about 5 minutes.

Then, turn off the heat but leave the saucepan on the warm burner. Add the chocolate and whisk until smooth.

Then, remove from heat and whisk in vanilla.

Let cool slightly before serving over ice cream, brownies, etc.

Store in a glass jar (1 quart) in the refrigerator. Warm slightly before serving.

Mixture thickens significantly when cooled
