How to Decorate Cookies with Royal Icing

Combine meringue powder and powdered sugar in the bowl of a mixer.

2. Add 6-7 tablespoons of water and mix with whisk attachment at medium speed for about 7-10 minutes, or until icing looses it’s sheen. Begin with 6 tablespoons and add up to an addition tablespoon if needed to get the icing smooth for mixing.

. Once icing is ready, add additional water to get the right consistency for piping and the vanilla extract. See notes and video above for guidance on consistency, coloring and piping.

How to decorate sugar cookies with royal icing

A twist on the classic Hershey&#039;s cake, moist, fluffy and delicious!

Chocolate Cake with BEST White Icing (Black Magic Cake)

For the Cake:

all-purpose flour

cocoa powder

baking soda

baking powder

salt

buttermilk (room temperature)

eggs & 1 large egg white (room temperature)

vanilla extract

White Icing (Click for our favorite recipe)

Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 350°F. Spray your chosen baking pan(s) with nonstick baking spray.

Sift together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt into the bowl of an electric mixer. Beat with paddle attachment, on low speed, just until combined.

In a different bowl, combine buttermilk, oil, eggs and vanilla.

Return the mixer to low speed and slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Mix about 15-20 seconds just until ingredients are incorporated.

Add the coffee and stir, on low speed, just until combined.

Pour the cake batter (it will very thin) into the cake pan(s) and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Baking times for the 8-inch cake pans is 35-40 minutes, for the Bundt pan 50-55 minutes and for the 13x9 pan about 35-45 minutes.

Quick and easy chocolate whipped cream frosting recipe, homemade with 3 simple ingredients (heavy cream, cocoa powder, powdered sugar). Creamy, fluffy, stabilized icing that can be piped on cakes and cupcakes too.

Easy Chocolate Whipped Cream Frosting

Heavy cream (Cold)

Cocoa powder

Powdered sugar

1/2-1 tsp Espresso powder (Optional, To intensify chocolate flavor)

Chill all of your mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for at least 10 minutes.

In a chilled mixing bowl, add heavy cream, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, espresso powder and mix with a stand mixer (with the whip attachment) or hand-held electric mixer until stiff peaks form that are holding their shape.

Don&#39;t over-mix to the point when your whipped cream starts to curdle and looks chunky or begins turning into butter.

Spread this icing on top of your desserts and enjoy!

The best quick powdered sugar icing for cookies, cakes, &amp; baked goods of all kinds! All you need is powdered sugar, milk, &amp; optional flavoring.

Easy Powdered Sugar Icing or Frosting

sugar ((120 grams))

milk

vanilla extract ((optional))

butter

oz cream cheese (softened)

In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk to your desired consistency. (Use less liquid for a thicker icing; add more liquid for a thinner glaze.)

Optional: Add vanilla extract for a vanilla icing, or add any other flavoring you’d like.

Use a spoon to pour or drizzle icing over cookies, cakes &amp;pastries while they’re still warm (but not too hot, or the icing will melt). Allow to set at room temperature—the icing will harden as the baked goods cool.

Yield: ~½ cup icing or glaze. (Enough for ~40 cookies, 1 Bundt cake, 12 cinnamon rolls, 8-10 scones.)

Storage: Cover powdered sugar icing or glaze and store at room temperature for up to 3 days.

How to Make Icing or Glaze with Powdered Sugar

In a large bowl, beat softened butter (and/or cream cheese) with a hand mixer until smooth &amp; creamy, for about 2 minutes.

Add powdered sugar and milk (if needed) and beat for 1-2 minutes, until fluffy.

Optional: Beat in vanilla extract or any flavoring you’d like. Or beat in a drop of food coloring to make different frosting colors.

Spread or pipe frosting onto completely cooled cookies, brownies, or cupcakes. Allow to set in the fridge for about an hour.

Yields: ~⅔ cup buttercream frosting. (Enough for 12-16 cupcakes or a pan of brownies.)

Storage: Keep buttercream in an airtight container or sealed piping bag at room temperature for 1-2 days, or store in the fridge for up to a week.
