You can’t beat a cool, refreshing glass of lemonade on a hot summer’s day. Simple to make and only 35 calories per glass, there&#039;s no need to pop to the shops with this slimming-friendly thirst quencher!

Homemade Lemonade | Slimming &amp; Weight Watchers Friendly

tbsp white granulated sweetener

litre water

lemon slices (halved, to decorate (optional))

mint (to decorate (optional))

Cut thin slices of lemon peel from the whole of each lemon using a vegetable peeler or small sharp knife. You only need the yellow part, not any white pith as this will make the lemonade bitter.

Place

Place the lemon peel in a small non-reactive saucepan. This is a saucepan that&#39;s made from a material that won&#39;t react with the acidic lemon juice. A non-stick saucepan would be ideal, and avoid pans that are made from aluminium, unlined copper or tin.

Pour

Pour in 200ml cold water to cover the lemon peel and place on a low heat. Gently simmer for 10 minutes to infuse the water with the flavour and colour of the lemon peel.

Remove

Remove from the heat and strain into a heatproof jug, discarding the lemon peel. Stir in the sweetener and stir until dissolved. Leave the lemon syrup to cool.

Squeeze

Squeeze the juice from the lemons and strain into the jug using a nylon sieve (metal sieves may react with the lemon juice).

Make

Make up to 1 litre with cold water and stir. Chill if wished, and serve in glasses with ice, lemon slices and mint sprigs (optional).

In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 2 cups of the water over medium-high heat. Bring to boil and stir to dissolve sugar completely, then remove from heat. Allow the simple syrup to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until completely chilled.

Meanwhile, juice enough lemons to get 2 cups of lemon juice. The number of lemons needed will depend on the size of the lemons you have but generally speaking, 4-5 pounds of lemons will do the trick. Remove any seeds from the lemon juice, but leave the pulp. In a pitcher, stir together chilled syrup, the freshly squeezed lemon juice and as much of the remaining water as you want to get the concentration you like best.

Add sliced lemons and ice to the pitcher for presentation.

How to Make Fresh Squeezed Homemade Lemonade

This recipe does not have that many calories in it. It is easy to make, flavorful and even the kids are going to like it. This Pineapple Lemon Drink is so refreshing for those hot days.

Pineapple Lemon Drink

Lemon juice

c Sparkling water

c Pineapple juice

Ice cubes

c Water

Sugar

Add the regular water and sugar to a pot over medium heat on the stove until the sugar has dissolved.

Cool the sugar water mixture.

Place the ice into a large pitcher.

Pour the cooled sugar water over the ice.

Mix the pineapple juice, sparkling water, and lemon juice into the pitcher. Stir to combine the ingredients well.

Chill before serving.

Skip the sugar and let me show you how to make homemade lemonade with honey. Check out this easy homemade lemonade recipe plus 4 flavorful and fruit lemonade variations!

Combine 1 cup of the water with raw honey and gently heat until the honey is dissolved, then transfer out of the sauce pan and allow to cool.  Set this aside because we’ll be using it in a little bit.

Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice to the bottom of a pitcher, followed by our simple honey syrup, and then fill the remainder of the pitcher up with the remaining 5 cups water.  Stir to combine.  This now makes our base honey-sweetened Homemade Lemonade recipe.

To break down the strawberries, add fresh strawberries to a blender and then puree them until they're evenly broken down.

Then, transfer the pureed strawberries to a fine mesh sieve and press through to get strained strawberry juice.  If you wanted to add the strawberry pieces to the lemonade, that would work as well, but this step will make it a smooth lemonade.

Add 1/4 cup of the strawberry juice to the bottom of a mason jar or tall glass, followed by the base lemonade recipe we made earlier, and then top it off with some ice cubes to keep it cool.

Strawberry Lemonade

Start by adding fresh blueberries to a sauce pan and heating over medium-high heat.  We want the blueberries to break down and release their juices.  They’ll also become a darker color in the process.

Then, transfer the cooked blueberries to a fine mesh sieve and press through to get strained blueberry juice.

Add 1/4 cup of the juice to the bottom of a glass, followed by our fresh lemonade, and then add some ice cubes to finish it off.

Blueberry Lemonade

Add diced peaches to a sauce pan and heat over medium-high heat.  We want the peaches to break down and release their juices, so cook them, stirring occasionally, until they become soft and liquidy.

Then, transfer the cooked peaches to a fine mesh sieve and press through to get strained peach juice.

Add 1/4 cup of the peach juice to the glass, then fill it to the top with the lemonade recipe, and then add ice cubes to get it cold.

Peach Lemonade

Break down the raspberries by adding them to a blender and then puree them until they're evenly broken down.

Then, transfer the pureed raspberries to a fine mesh sieve and press through to get strained raspberry juice.  If you wanted to add the raspberry pieces to the lemonade, that would work as well, but this step will make it a smooth lemonade.

Add 1/4 cup of the raspberry juice to a mason jar or glass, then fill it to the top with the base lemonade and then add a few ice cubes to get it cold.

I'm a little lazy when it comes to making home made cold drinks etc, but I made your lemonade recipe and squeezed out a few oranges and then added some good quality rooibos tea. I honestly think that rooibos made it better and I'm sure that playing with different types of fruits would also work and you need alot less fruit juice so it makes it a little more affordable.
