Here's my go-to vinaigrette recipe! It's so easy to make and tastes way better than store-bought dressings. You can change up the flavors by choosing the vinegar that suits your salad best. Recipe yields 3/4 cup dressing, enough for about 6 medium salads (assuming 2 tablespoons per salad).

Basic Vinaigrette (Plus Variations!)

olive oil

vinegar

Dijon mustard

maple syrup

garlic, pressed

fine sea salt,

black pepper,

In a liquid measuring cup or bowl, combine all of the ingredients. Stir well with a small whisk or a fork until the ingredients are completely mixed together.

Taste, and adjust as necessary. If the mixture is too acidic, thin it out with a bit more olive oil or balance the flavors with a little more maple syrup or honey. If the mixture is a little blah, add another pinch or two of salt. If it doesn&#8217;t have enough zing, add vinegar by the teaspoon.

Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate for future use. Homemade vinaigrette keeps well for 7 to 10 days. If your vinaigrette solidifies somewhat in the fridge, don&#8217;t worry about it—real olive oil tends to do that. Simply let it rest at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes or microwave very briefly (about 20 seconds) to liquify the olive oil again. Whisk to blend and serve.

Did this with Bragg's apple cider vinegar (with the Mother) just see how it would taste. Added a teaspoon of fresh lime juice, a little fresh citrus zest and 1/2 tsp garlic powder for extra zing!  Delicious!!

Just made this using maple syrup but used Bragg's apple cider vinegar and added the following:
1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
1 teaspoon grapefruit zest
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Zesty and delicious! Drizzled it over some grilled shrimp, pink grapefruit and avocado salad.

I made the White Wine Vinegar dressing, and it's delicious!  One note of caution:  take care with the amount of garlic.  The recipe calls for two cloves, but the cloves in my head of garlic were so large that one clove would have been adequate, especially as garlic seems to get stronger during the time the dressing is in the fridge.

Delicious!! Makes my salads so enjoyable and all theses items are already in my fridge. I’m now saving money not buying dressing too!

Basic Vinaigrette Recipe

To make the perfect Cobb salad, you MUST use homemade dressing. Our recipe is filled with crispy bacon, hard-boiled eggs, chicken breast, and creamy avocado. 

Cobb Salad

c. red wine vinegar

Kosher salt

black pepper

head romaine lettuce,

eggs,

chicken,

bacon,

avocado, thinly sliced

blue cheese

cherry tomatoes, halved

tbsp. finely chopped chives

This was my first time making a Cobb and despite my LIBRARY of cookbooks, when I'm searching for a new recipe, it's off to the interwebs I go! I went with this one because of the text style/tone, and because of the pic. I made this for a camping dinner for 17 (8 adults, a teen who eats like an adult, plus 8 kids) and it was a HIT with everyone! I poached the chicken with a bay leaf and some fresh thyme, and knew the blue cheese would be a deal breaker for some of the adults even, so I mashed the cheese up with the dressing, and then whisked it up further, to ensure I had that nonnegotiable blue cheese taste. It has become a new camping tradition!

I tried a Cobb salad many years ago. Wanted to try and make one of these salads myself. This was the most perfect recipe! I used everything this recipe calls for and my husband and I almost finished it all. I will definitely make this salad again!

Made this and it was delish!  I added honey and stevia to cut the acid in the dressing and it was totally perfect!

I have a favourite cobb, at the Paris Hotel in Vegas years ago.  This one is the most similar, but somehow Vegas style was a salad with the same ingredients stacked about 12 inches high. Thanks for this

Salt (and pepper)

Pour the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, 2 tablespoons honey, Dijon mustard, dried thyme, and garlic clove in a jar. Season with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper.

Place the lid on the jar and shake vigorously to combine. Once smooth, taste. Then add more honey or salt if needed.

The Best Balsamic Vinaigrette

This vegan cranberry vinaigrette is made with fresh cranberries, chopped thyme, and shallot. It's naturally tart, so you only need a little vinegar.

walnut oil oil

red wine vinegar

agave or honey

salt

¼ teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Puree shallot, cranberries, olive oil, vinegar, walnut or flax oil, thyme, agave or honey, salt and pepper in a mini prep, food processor or blender until as smooth as possible. Store in a jar in the refrigerator up to 1 week.

There's no way I'm waiting for Thanksgiving to enjoy this cranberry vinaigrette! I need to make this asap! It looks so delicious!

This Warm Quinoa &amp; Roasted Vegetable Salad combines the flavor of roasted veggies and nutty quinoa with a delicious homemade vinaigrette.

Warm Quinoa Roasted Veggie Salad with Homemade Vinaigrette

Whole Sweet Potatoes

Whole Zucchini

Baby Carrots

Broccoli Florets

Mushrooms

Salt

Black Pepper

Olive Oil

Quinoa

Cheese,

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Red Wine Vinegar

Garlic

Honey

Dijon Mustard

Red Pepper Flakes

Remove skin from sweet potatoes and cut into cubes. Cut the ends from the zucchini and cut zucchini into cubes. Slice baby carrots and mushrooms in half (if not already cut). Add all veggies into a large bowl. Coat with salt, pepper, and olive oil shaking together until evenly coated.

Place all veggies on a baking sheet and bake at 425 degrees for 30 minutes. Set to the side.

Cook quinoa as instructed then place into a large bowl. Add roasted veggies into the same bowl with quinoa and toss together. Set to the side.

Add all vinaigrette dressing ingredients into a bowl and whisk until smooth.

Pour half of the vinaigrette in the bowl with quinoa and roasted vegetables. Gently fold until blended.

Serve warm salad on a large serving dish and top off with feta cheese (optional). The remaining vinaigrette can be served on the side.

Use this recipe as a guide to make any variety of vinaigrettes you can dream up. This recipe uses the basic ratio of 3:1 oil to vinegar and offers ideas for additional seasoning and flavors. What to customize the serving size? Click on the number of servings below and use the slider to adjust up or down as needed.

Basic Vinaigrette (with variations)

Pour vinegar and any other seasoning ingredients (except oil) in a bowl.

Whisk with a fork or whisk until evenly combined.

Slowly add the oil while whisking.

Continue whisking until evenly combined.

If mixing in a bowl

Combine all of the ingredients in a mason jar with a lid.

Shake vigorously until everything is evenly combined.

If mixing in a mason jar

Combine all of the ingredients in a blender or in a narrow jar (that will fit the immersion blender).

Blend until smooth.

Store in the fridge for up to 5 days if the vinaigrette includes fresh ingredients. If the vinaigrette is just oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper, it can be stored for several weeks in the fridge or at room temperature.

What a fantastic quick easy dressing to make and so delicious.  I have been trying for years to buy a nice basic dressing and all fall short and to think it was all there in my cupboard ready to me to make. I did the balsamic vinegar this time with maple syrup and will try out other variations, maybe .... this one was so so yummy I want to eat it all the time. :-)

I love this recipe. One thing I tweaked was the oil. Straight olive oil is too strong for me, so I used avocado and canola as well.

I love this versatile vinaigrette in all sorts of salads, baked chicken, or even fish. It is so easy to make, and tastes sort of like basil pesto in a vinaigrette -- so zesty and fresh! And if you quickly blanch the basil before whizzing it up in a food processor, you&#039;ll help it keep its vibrant green color! This recipe makes 3/4 to 1 cup of basil vinaigrette.

BEST Basil Vinaigrette Recipe

basil leaves, ((about 1 1/8 ounces))

shallot, (roughly chopped)

lime, (about 2 tablespoons)

Fill a medium bowl with ice cubes and water and set it next to the stove.

Fill a small saucepan about three-fourths full of water. Bring the water to boil over medium-high heat. Add the basil and cook for 10 seconds. Using a slotted spoon, immediately transfer the basil to the bowl of ice water and let cool for 5 minutes. Using the slotted spoon, remove the basil from the ice water, wrap the wilted basil in a paper towel, and squeeze to wring out as much water as possible.

Place the blanched basil, the shallot, garlic, lime juice, vinegar, olive oil, and red pepper flakes in the bowl of a small food processor fitted with the multipurpose blade. Blend until well combined and smooth. Season to taste with salt and refrigerate in a tightly closed mason jar for up to 4 days.
