How to Make Chili Oil

Pour the oil in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat.Heat the oil for about 2-3 minutes until hot. It&#039;s very important not to overheat the oil, you can use a thermometer if preferred (keep it below 380ºF/193ºC), but heating it on medium-low should suffice.

Next, carefully pour the oil over the dried chili flakes. They will sizzle wonderfully from the heat and let off an amazing aroma - see the video.

Add the salt to the mixture and stir well to fully incorporate.

Finally, leave the oil to cool down completely then transfer to a sterilized glass jar.

As long as the oil is stored in a sterilized, airtight container then this oil will last six months, if not longer, in the fridge or around 2-3 months at room temperature. As we haven&#039;t added any other &#039;aromatics&#039;, it is likely to last far longer (over a year). Just make sure to always use clean utensils when spooning any oil from the jar.You&#039;ll know when the oil has &#039;gone bad&#039; as the oil will become rancid and will smell and taste bad.

Canna-oil: The Mason Jar Method

Preheat your oven at 240 F

Grind your herb with a grinder and put in a mason jar, cover with aluminum foil and closes with the metal ring only.

Put in the oven and cook for 40 minutes. Shake the jar every 15 minutes or so. Your cannabis should be toasty and slightly brown. If your cannabis starts to turn dark brown or black, remove it from the oven even if your timers is not finished.

Remove the jar from the even and let it cool down at room temperature before opening.

Decarboxylating

Add the oil and lecithin into the mason jar with the previously decarboxylated cannabis. Stir and close it again with aluminum foil and the metal ring.

Put the mason jar in a crockpot lined with an old kitchen towel. Fill with water until the water is higher than the oil level. If you can, put a lid on the crockpot to reduce water evaporation.

Turn on your crockpot and set it up so that the water is barely simmering. Infuse the oil in the mason jar for 4 to 6 hours. Refill the water as needed.

Strain the cannabis oil while still hot with a tea strainer

Let the oil cool down at room temperature and label the jar with a warning and the oil potency.

Use according to your recipe and enjoy!

Infusion

A simple recipe to extract any cannabinoid of your choice. This recipe uses Charlotte web cannabis plant and coconut oil you can find at your local stores. 

Part 2, How to Make Infused Cannabis CBD Coconut Oil

Strainer or cheesecloth

Bowl

Jar or bowl to store the coconut oil

Grinder (a simple hand grinder works best)

Double-boiler, slow cooker, saucepan, etc.

Grind the cannabis to a medium/fine course. It's ok to use entire plant, just the flower, a little bit of both — this is all a matter of preference. Anything small enough to fit through the strainer will end up in your product so be careful grinding.

Combine oil and cannabis in your double-boiler or slow cooker, and heat the two together on low or warm for a few hours. Cooking can be done a variety of ways (see note below on times): in a slow cooker on low; in a double-boiler on low; or in a simple saucepan on low for at least three hours, stirring frequently (do not scorch). In all cases, a small amount of water can be added to the mixture to help avoid burning. Note: whatever method you choose, temperature of the oil should not exceed 245°F.

Strain and store the oil. Do not squeeze too hard on the cheesecloth; this will simply add more chlorophyll to your oil. All remaining plant material can be used for composting or discarded. Keeping the oil in your pantry will last for at least 2 months, cans be extended in refrigerator. Keep out of the sunlight.

Low FODMAP Garlic-Infused Oil

Have ready a glass storage bottle, container or jar with an airtight lid. Rinse with boiling water and dry thoroughly; set aside.

Pour oil in a small sized non-reactive pot and heat over low heat just until just warm to the touch, then remove from heat. It is important not to overheat the oil as its flavor and integrity will degrade. No need to use a thermometer, just go by touch and only heat the oil until it is warm, not hot.

For a more subtle garlic flavor, leave the cloves whole; for more potent garlic flavor halve the cloves Add garlic to oil, off the heat, and allow to sit for about 2 hours. Strain into the clean jar, making sure to remove all of the garlic pieces; we like to line a fine wire-meshed strainer with cheesecloth to catch any garlic pieces. Seal jars and store in refrigerator, using within 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months for safety (see headnote and TIPS below).

Roasted Garlic Dipping Oil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Slice the top off of the head of garlic, just exposing the top of the garlic.

Place the garlic, thyme and rosemary in a small, shallow baking dish and drizzle the olive oil over the garlic and into the baking dish. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 1 hour.

Remove from the oven, uncover and let cool until you are able to handle the garlic. Squeeze the roasted garlic out of the peel and discard the peels. Mash the garlic with a fork and whisk it into the olive oil-herb mixture. Serve with Italian bread. (Leftover oil can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 months. Bring to room temperature before serving.)

Low-FODMAP Garlic and/or Onion Infused Oil

Place 2 cloves garlic, onion and oil in small saucepan over low heat. Heat just until the garlic starts to simmer. Remove from heat. Let cool for 10 minutes. Remove garlic and onion pieces and discard. Pour oil into a clean, airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for no more than two to four days (read here for more information).

For just garlic infused oil (no onion), use 6 cloves of garlic and follow the above instructions.

In a small saucepan, add the olive oil and sliced garlic. Heat over low for about an hour until the garlic is lightly browned.

Remove from the heat and let cool down to room temperature. Then, remove the garlic and pour the oil into a clean/sterilized bottle. 

Keep in the refrigerator for about a month.

Seal jars and store in refrigerator, using within 3 days for safety.

You may also freeze the onion oil up to 1 month. It will stay safe after that but the flavor will degrade.

How To Make Infused Olive Oil

extra virgin olive oil (236 mL)

Sundried Tomato & Basil: 3 sundried tomatoes (chopped), 2 Tbsp dried basil

Tbsp garlic powder

Lemon Thyme: 1 lemon peel (sliced), 2 Tbsp dried thyme

Chili: 2 Tbsp crushed red pepper

Steep: Combine oil and chosen flavor ingredients in a small saucepan. Set over medium/low heat and cook for 20 minutes to infuse the flavors into the oil (do not let it simmer or smoke).

Strain: Using a fine mesh sieve, strain flavor ingredients from the oil, then transfer oil to clean bottles.

Store: Label and store somewhere cool and dark until ready to serve.
