Instant Pot Honey Baked Ham

Prepare Instant Pot

Place trivet inside the inner pot of pressure cooker. Pour in 1 and 1/2 cups cold water. Place oil sling on trivet–this will help you remove ham after it has finished cooking.

Prepare Glaze

Prepare glaze by whisking together pineapple juice, honey and brown sugar.

Prepare Ham

Place ham on large sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil.&nbsp;Fold up sides of foil, to make a bowl like shape around the ham.&nbsp;Gently separate slices of spiral ham, so glaze can penetrate the ham slices.&nbsp;Pour glaze over ham and securely wrap foil around ham. Place ham on trivet inside pressure cooker.&nbsp;Secure foil sling around ham, if using.

Pressure Cook

Pressure Cook on High for 2 minutes per pound plus 10 minutes to account for the foil. (Only add 5 minutes if using thin foil.) Once cook time has elapsed, let rest for at least 15 minutes. Check the internal temperature to be sure the ham is warmed to 135-150 degrees. If not, cook for an additional 3-5 minutes on high pressure.

Remove

After pressure is released, remove your ham from the Instant Pot and place on a large platter or bowl, still sealed in the foil. Remove trivet from inside pressure cooker and pour out the water used to cook the honey baked ham. Place the inner pot back inside the pressure cooker and turn the pressure cooker to Saute.

Simmer

Gently peel back the foil slightly from the cooked Ham. Remove the Ham from the foil, leaving the liquid inside the foil packet. Pour the rendered cooking liquid into the pressure cooker.

Thicken

Mix together 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 1/4 cup water and whisk into cooking liquid.  Whisk liquid constantly until thickened and reduced--about 3-5 minutes. Pour over sliced ham.

Instant Pot Honey Baked Ham Recipe: 
3-5 pound spiral sliced ham

2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch optional

If using a ham that won't fit on the trivet, add ham directly to pressure cooker. Then add in 1.5 cups of pineapple juice. Cook for 2 minutes per pound if sliced, 3 minutes per pound if unsliced. Let pressure release naturally. Remove ham from Instant Pot. Turn to saute. Add in 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup maple syrup and whisk well. Mix together 1/4 cup water with 1 tablespoon cornstarch and then add to Instant Pot. Let saute for 3-5 minutes or until thick and bubbly. Serve over the ham.

In a bowl combine honey, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and orange zest.

Place bowl in microwave and cook for 15-30 seconds, depending on the strength of your microwave. When the honey glaze reaches a pourable consistency it is ready.

Place your ham on a piece of aluminum foil large enough to wrap up the entire ham.

Using a basting brush coat the ham with half of the glaze. Set the remaining glaze aside.

Wrap the foil around the ham making sure to seal it well so the juices don’t spill out as it cooks.

Place a trivet in the Instant Pot inner pot. I highly recommend a trivet with handles to make it easy to remove your ham after it finishes cooking.

Pour 1.5 cups of water into the bottom of the pot and then place your ham on the trivet.

Lock the lid in place and set the veiled to SEALING.

Set to cook on HIGH PRESSURE for 10 minutes (see times listed in the notes section for the amount of time based on weight).

When the timer goes off let it do a 15 minute natural release then carefully turn the valve to VENTING and release any remaining steam.

Remove the lid and use a thermometer to check that the internal temperature of the ham has reached 145 degrees F. If it has not lock your lid back in place, turn the valve to sealing and cook it on high pressure for another 3-5 minutes.

When the ham is ready carefully remove it from the pot and set it on a large platter. Remove it from the aluminum foil and dispose of the excess liquid.

If you want to bake on a glaze set your oven to broil and brush the remaining glaze over the ham (you may need to rewarm it in the microwave to get it to a pourable consistency). Cook under the broiler for 5 minutes to let the glaze caramelize.

Serve immediately.

No need to take hours to cook ham. This homemade glaze and instant pot ham instructions will be perfect for all hams! Not dried out, but perfectly cooked.

In separate bowl mix brown sugar, honey, apple cider vinegar, whole cloves, and 3/4 cup dole pineapple juice from the can. Set aside.In pressure cooker place fold two long sheets of foil together to form one skinny long piece that will make handles. Place with ends coming up to the top and folding over edge of instant pot. Place ham in pressure cooker and pour glaze on top, reserving 1 cup of the liquid. Top ham with remaining pineapple tidbits and 1 cup water. Seal and cook high 7 minutes. Quick release.

If crispness is desired, remove liquid from the pressure cooker and set aside. Add remaining glaze and add air fryer lid. Air fry for about 7-10 minutes. Ladle some of the remaining juices back on to ham to keep moist.

If crispness is desired, remove from pressure cooker to cookie sheet. broil for a few minutes until ends are caramelized and crispy. Ladle juices from pressure cooker on ham to restore any moisture. Serve immediately.

Pressure Cook Ham: Add 1 (14oz or 398ml) can of pineapples and 2 tbsp (30ml) dijon mustard in Instant Pot. Give it a quick mix. Layer a steamer rack then place ham on top. The ham&#39;s internal temperature will continue to rise.Bring the sauce back to a simmer by pressing the 'Cancel' button, then 'Saute' button. Taste and gradually add in brown sugar to desired sweetness. Sweetness Tips: You&#39;ll want the sauce to be quite sweet to balance the salty smoky ham flavor. For reference, we added roughly ¼ cup (50g) brown sugar. Mix 2.5 tbsp (22.5g) cornstarch with 3 tbsp (45ml) cold water in a small mixing bowl. Add the cornstarch mixture one third at a time to thicken the honey pineapple sauce until desired thickness.

Prep the instant pot.

Pour the cold water into the Instant Pot, then place the trivet inside. 

Make the glaze.

In a medium size bowl whisk together the pineapple juice, brown sugar, honey and ground cloves.

Prep the ham.

Place the ham on a large sheet of aluminium foil and fold up the sides to form a bowl around the ham. Place the ham with the aluminum foil inside the Instant Pot on top of the trivet. Pour the prepared glaze over the ham and inside the foil, then wrap the foil around the ham.

Pressure cook the ham.

Close the Instant Pot lid. Set the valve to sealing and set the Instant Pot to Manual/High Pressure for 2 minutes per pound of ham plus 10 minutes to account for the foil. My ham was 5 pounds, so I set mine to 20 minutes on high pressure.

Release the steam.

When the time is up, let the Instant Pot release naturally for 15 minutes then quick release remaining pressure.

Serve and enjoy.

Carefully remove the ham from the Instant Pot and place on a serving platter. Pour remaining glaze in the aluminum foil over the ham and serve.

Black Folks Pineapple Glazed Ham

ham (pre-cooked, pre-spiraled 4-6 pound ham)

½ cups water (for the Instant Pot)

Open the Instant Pot lid and pour the water into the stainless steel inner pot.

Prepare the ham’s glaze by whisking together the pineapple juice, crushed pineapple, brown sugar, cinnamon, clove, vanilla extract, and corn starch, and set the mixture aside.

Place the ham in the Instant Pot baking sling. (If you don’t have a baking sling, you can use heavy-duty aluminum foil folded up to make a hammock-like sling shape around the ham.)

Gently separate the slices of the spiraled ham, and use a large serving spoon to pour the pineapple glaze over the ham and in between the spiraled slices.

Secure the Instant Pot baking sling around the ham. (If using foil, make sure it’s securely wrapped around the ham, and there’s enough foil for ‘handles’ to lift the ham.)

Using the handles of the baking sling, place the ham in the Instant Pot stainless steel inner pot. (If using an aluminum foil sling, first place the Instant Pot trivet rack in the stainless-steel inner pot. Then using the aluminum foil sling handles, place the ham on the trivet rack inside the pot.)

Close the Instant Pot lid (make sure the valve is up – in the position for sealing) and pressure cook on high for 2 minutes per pound of ham (For example, pressure cook a 5-pound ham for 10 minutes). *Add an additional 5 minutes of pressure-cooking time if you’re using a heavy-duty aluminum foil sling. (Ex. 15 minutes for a 5-pound ham in a foil sling).

When the cooking time is finished, allow a natural pressure release for at least the same amount of time as your pressure cooked the ham. (For example, allow a 10-minute natural pressure release for a 5-pound ham. 15 minutes of natural pressure release if the 5-pound ham is in a heavy-duty foil sling.)

To open the Instant Pot lid, move the valve to ‘venting’ and manually release any remaining pressure, if applicable.

In the rare case that your ham is not done when the pressure-cooking time is complete, add an additional 3-5 minutes and pressure cook on high again.

After the pressure is released, remove the ham from the Instant Pot using the baking sling handles (or the aluminum foil sling handles). You may need to use oven mitts.

Place the fully cooked ham on a large platter and remove the baking sling (or aluminum foil) by gently sliding it from under the ham.
