This simple recipe makes four perfect KETO HAMBURGER BUNS that are soft, fluffy, and topped with sesame seeds. These are easy enough for anyone to make with just a handful of ingredients. Grain free, gluten free, and even the family enjoys them!

Keto Hamburger Buns Recipe

apple cider vinegar

¼ cup ground flaxseed/linseed (ground)

almond meal/flour

pre-shredded/grated mozzarella

tbsp cream cheese

tsp baking powder

tsp extra virgin olive oil

Preheat

Preheat your oven to 375°F/190°C. In a small bowl mix together your egg and apple cider vinegar. Set aside until ready to use.

Add your flax seen to a grinder or blender, coarsely grind. Pour the flax seed in a microwave safe bowl. Add the almond flour and shredded mozzarella cheese to the bowl and mix. Then add your cream cheese to the bowl. There is no need to mix the cream cheese in just yet.

Microwave

Place your bowl with the cheese in the microwave. Melt your cheese for 1 minute, remove the bowl and mix with a silicone spatula. If your cheese is not completely melted yet microwave for 30 more seconds until your cheese is completely melted.

While your mozzarella dough is still hot add your baking powder. Mix and fold together. Add the egg/vinegar mixture to your dough. Fold in with your silicone spatula.

Roll

Roll your dough into a ball and cut into 4 equal sections. Roll each section into a ball and then flatten the top and bottom of the ball to shape into a hamburger bun.

Place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Brush the olive oil over your buns and sprinkle the tops with sesame seeds. Bake in the oven at 375°F/190°C for 12-15 minutes. Your burger buns will be done when the tops are golden brown and the dough is cooked in the centre.

Bake

Remove the buns from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack or towel for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

This is the Keto Everything Bun recipe from my book Dairy Free Keto Cooking. We use this base keto bread recipe for everything - from keto hamburger buns, to sandwich and sub rolls, to low carb hot dog buns, avocado toast and even keto croutons. It is incredibly versatile and satisfies even the toughest of bread cravings. 

The Best Keto Bread Recipe

flour

nutritional yeast (I use this brand)

sea salt

water

Everything Bagel Seasoning (get the recipe here)

Put an oven rack in the lower third position. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

In a large bowl, mix the almond flour, psyllium husk powder, nutritional yeast, baking powder, and salt until there are no visible clumps.

Add the egg whites and vinegar to the bowl and, using a rubber spatula, mix while slowly pouring in the hot water. Continue to mix just until the ingredients are well combined; be careful not to overmix the dough.

Moisten your hands and divide the dough into 4 equal parts, then shape them into hamburger-sized buns. Put the buns on the lined baking sheet. Sprinkle the bagel seasoning over the tops of the buns.

Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour, until the buns have doubled in size, are crisp on top, and make a hollow sound when you thump them. Allow to cool before slicing.

This is the best Keto bread recipe I’ve ever tried. A friend came over as the buns were coming out of the oven. I shared one and she could hardly believe how delicious it tasted. This is so good! If you have the ingredients, it takes all of 12 minutes to make the dough. I'll add that I've tried a few modifications and nothing compares to the original. Just stick to the recipe! So good with butter or avocado and a great bun for any burger.

I didn't quite believe the hype from the comments, but as a longtime searcher of good keto bread, I think I've finally found the one! 
Super easy to make following the recipe exactly; I did the garlic butter glaze at the end of baking, and it comes through deliciously. I will be sure to toast it going forward as I think that'll only help with texture, but I'm very happy to have found such a simple recipe that gives me the joy of eating bread again! Absolutely delicious! I’ve made these buns several times. They’re easy to make and taste great for a keto bun. They don’t taste like store-bought keto rolls, but I like that I know what’s in them.

LOVE this recipe! I used a different brand of the psyllium and had purple buns but they were still amazing!! Thank you so much for bringing low carb bread back into my life in an affordable way. Very easy to make, too.
