Korean BBQ Chicken is smothered in an easy to make and DELICIOUS gochujang BBQ sauce then grilled until charred and crispy. This recipe will be your new summer favorite!

Smoky Gochujang Barbecue Chicken

tomato paste

gochujang (Gluten-free, if needed. Homemade, if paleo)

honey

rice vinegar

garlic

chicken drumsticks

Preheat your BBQ to medium heat. (use a BBQ matt to keep your grill clean)

In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, bring the tomato paste, gochujang, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and 1 tablespoon of water to boil then set aside.

Place the chicken on the grill, skin side up. Let it cook for 20 minutes, flipping over halfway.

Baste the chicken generously with the gochujang BBQ sauce and cook for another 6 minutes, turning and basting again halfway.

Serve with a sprinkle of cilantro over the top.

I made this last night and it's amazing! I was worried it would be too spicy but it wasn't. Just a nice hint of spice and lots of flavor.

Made this with boneless, skinless thighs as that's all I had on hand.  Delicious and well received by all!  Didn't have access to a grill, so coated the thighs generously with the sauce and roasted for a short while in the oven - then broiled to get some color and sticky/crunch.

Love this recipe. Added an extra 1/2 tablespoon of gochujang. Delicious!

This is not nearly as spicy as advertised. My twin 3 1/2 year old grandsons loved it! For the adults, we found it to be a little bland. I'll fix it again, but will use at least 1T more of Gochujang.

Absolutely delicious!  Recommend doubling the BBQ basting sauce if you like full flavored food.

Easy Korean BBQ Chicken (Chicken Bulgogi) Recipe.

Chicken Bulgogi

450 g chicken thigh

Tbsp soy sauce (, regular)

brown sugar

Tbsp rice wine

Sprite ((alternatively

Tbsp minced garlic

tsp minced ginger

tsp sesame oil

black pepper

Cut the chicken into bite size pieces. (If grilling, prepare it according to your grill type and your preference.) 

Combine all the marinade ingredients in a bowl and mix them well. Pour it over the meat. Cover and marinate it for at least 4 hours or overnight in the fridge to deepen the flavor. You can certainly marinate it for a lot shorter time, but the chicken will be less flavorful.

Cook the chicken over a well heated skillet. (If grilling, cook the chicken following your grill manual.) Do not add the leftover marinade. (I use a slotted spoon to minimize the marinade transfer.)  Sizzle both sides of chicken over medium high heat then reduce the heat to medium until the chicken is fully cooked.In the mean time, boil over the leftover marinade in a separate sauce pan for 2-3 mins over medium high heat, stirring occasionally. Sieve through any excess fat and undesirable pieces from the sauce. Set the sauce aside.

Serve. Glaze the sauce over the chicken.

Kalbi (Galbi) Chicken /Korean BBQ Chicken

1.25 LBS Chicken thighs (cut into 2 inch pieces)

OZ Kalbi Sauce/Marinade (I have used Seoul Brand)

TBSP Red Chili powder (spicy)

Scallion/Green Onion (finely chopped)

TSP Sesame seeds (toasted)

CUP Jasmine Sticky rice (Pre-Cooked)

Marinate chicken pieces overnight in Kalbi Sauce

Heat Stove Top Grill On high flame then spray with oil

Add red chili powder to marinated chicken. Mix well

Place marinated chicken pieces on grill and cook each side for 3 minutes or until done

Layer serving dish with cooked rice then place cooked Kalbi Chicken pcs on it

Garnish with sesame seeds &amp; chopped scallion/green onion

Wallah! Your delicious Kalbi Chicken/Korean BBQ Chicken is ready!

Kalbi (Galbi) Chicken/Korean BBQ Chicken Recipe
Ingredients:
1.25 lbs of skinless chicken thighs - cut into 2 inch pieces
5 to 7 oz. Kalbi Sauce - I have used Seoul Brand 
1 tbsp red chili powder
oil to spray stove top grill/griddle
1 scallion/green onion - finely chopped
1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
1 cup cooked Basmati or Jasmine rice

Method:
Marinated chicken thigh pieces in Kalbi sauce overnight/minimum 2 hours
Heat stove top grill/griddle to high and spray with cooking oil
Add red chili powder to marinated chicken, mix well
Place chicken pieces on grill, 3 mins per side or until cooked completely
Layer serving dish with cooked rice & place grilled Kalbi chicken on it
Garnish with chopped scallion/green onion and sesame seeds
Wallah! Your Kalbi (Galbi) Chicken/Korean BBQ Chicken is ready!

Korean BBQ Chicken

soy sauce (low sodium)

olive oil

sesame oil

rice wine vinegar

sriracha

garlic (minced)

ginger (fresh, minced)

sesame seeds

cilantro (or parsley, chopped)

Preheat the oven to 375 F °.

Make the sauce: Mix the soy sauce, sriracha, garlic, ginger, honey, sesame oil, olive oil, and rice wine vinegar in a bowl and set aside.

Bake the chicken: Place the chicken in a large baking dish and pour the sauce over each piece. Flip the pieces to ensure they&#x27;re fully covered in sauce. Bake for 20 minutes, brush or baste the chicken with the sauce from the pan, then bake for another 15 to 20 minutes or until the thickest piece registers 165F degrees in the middle.

Garnish: Sprinkle the chicken generously with sesame seeds and chopped cilantro. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Combine the sauce ingredients in a small bowl: soy sauce, ketchup, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, ginger powder, rice vinegar, honey, brown sugar and sriracha. Whisk to mix together.

Combine the chicken broth and cornstarch; whisk to fully combine and dissolve the cornstarch.

Heat the oil in a large skillet (preferably non-stick) over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook 4 minutes, until white on the outside. The chicken should not be fully cooked at this point.TIP: allow the chicken to sit for about 20 seconds before stirring to cook on another side (vs stirring constantly).

Add the sauce to the skillet. Stir to coat the chicken. Cook for 3 minutes.

Pour the broth and cornstarch mixture over the chicken.  Continue cooking for 4-6 minutes or until the chicken is cooked thoroughly and the sauce has thickened.

Serve over rice with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and sliced scallions!

Gochujang BBQ Chicken Thighs (Air Fryer)

chicken thighs (trimmed if necessary)

gochujang ((Korean red pepper paste))

Toasted sesame seed ((optional for garnish))

white rice (or more (optional for serving))

Preheat the air fryer:Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.

For the gochujang marinade:In a mixing bowl, mix together gochujang, sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and black pepper.

Marinate the chicken thighs:Add the chicken thighs into the gochujang marinade and mix well. Make sure the entire chicken thighs are coated with the marinade.*If you have time, let the chicken marinate for at least 30 minutes for max flavor.*

Cook the chicken:Line the bottom of the air fryer basket with a sheet of parchment paper, and arrange the gochujang marinated chicken thighs on the parchment. Air fry the chicken thighs for about 10 minutes, flipping mid way through.*Each air fryer is different, so the cooking time may be different by a few minutes for your air fryer. Keep the chicken thighs in a single layer and cook in batches if necessary.*

To serve:Remove the chicken thighs from the air fryer basket. Slice each chicken thighs and shingle over a bed of rice. Garnish with green onion and sesame seeds and enjoy!*For extra flavor, carefully remove the parchment paper from the air fryer basket and pour the juices over the chicken.*

In a large bowl, whisk together all of the ingredients for the marinade, except for the chicken. Taste the marinade to see if you&#39;d like it sweeter, spicier, or more salted.

Once satisfied with the marinade flavor, add the chicken thighs and mix until the chicken is well coated with the marinade. Set aside until ready to cook.*The marinade can be made a week ahead of time and the chicken can be marinaded up to 3-4 days ahead of time, as long it&#39;s properly stored and refrigerated.*

In a large fry pan, add a couple Tablespoons of vegetable oil and heat over medium heat. Once the oil is hot and starts to shimmer, place the marinated chicken thighs in the pan piece by piece to give each piece a good char and sear. DO NOT overcrowd the pan! Let the marinated chicken cook on each side for about 2 to 3 minutes, or until the chicken pieces are cooked through (165°F). Remove the the cooked chicken, along with all the juices and repeat until all marinated chicken are cooked.*Cooking time for the chicken will vary depending on the size of each piece of chicken and how cold they are.*

For the marinade and chicken:

Arrange the rice (or your preferred grain), romaine lettuce, carrots, cucumber, avocado, and cooked chicken in 4 bowls. Top each bowl with a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds and enjoy while the rice and chicken are hot!
