Date Night Lemon Pappardelle with Shrimp

shrimp

butter, divided

fresh garlic, grated (less than one clove)

white wine (I usually eyeball it)

heavy cream

salt

Parmesan cheese (optional)

lemon juice

pappardelle

black pepper

Pasta

Cook according to package directions (add a big pinch of salt to your water for better-tasting pasta). Drain and reserve some water. Toss pasta with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Lemon Pasta Step 1

Sauce

Melt 2-3 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Add the garlic; sauté for 1-2 minutes (do not brown the garlic). Add the wine; let it sizzle out for a few minutes. Add the cream; bring to a simmer. Add the lemon juice, salt, and optional Parmesan; bring down to low heat.

Shrimp

Pat shrimp dry with paper towels. Heat one tablespoon of the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp, season with salt, and flip when pink (1-2 minutes per side). Cover with foil and set aside.

Assemble

Toss your pasta with the warm sauce. Serve alongside a pile of fresh, juicy, hot, buttery shrimp. Serve with freshly cracked black pepper and little wedges of lemon. Ooooh baby.

No flavor to the shrimp! No red pepper? No brining? Basil, anything. Very bland, sorry.

I was nervous about blandness too, but the garlic, lemon, and parmesan made this both delicate and delicious.

This recipe looks delish! But can I ask a potentially dumb question?  Why don't chefs, restaurants... etc.  take the tails of shrimp?  Especially when its a dish like this, with twirly pasta?? I have never understood this.  Do people actually eat the tails?

This was excellent.  Made it for Valentine’s Day for my 93 year old mom and husband. Huge hit!  Had 12 Oz pasta so increased sauce by half. This would be great even without the shrimp.

So simple, yet so good! Quick recipe and creamy, but not too creamy. I used chicken broth instead of white wine, since I didn’t have any wine and I finished the fish off with more ground pepper, fresh parsley, Parmesan and red pepper flakes. Will definitely be making again!

(I’ll be using red wine instead of white so I hope it goes well) Stupid question: when you reserve some of the water from cooking the pasta, do you let the pasta sit in it while you’re cooking the shrimp? Or do you set aside some of the pasta water for the sauce? It’s not clear in the recipe. Thanks!

Cajun Garlic Lemon Butter Shrimp with Caramelized Corn Polenta.

sweet corn, kernels

milk

dry polenta

parmesan cheese

salt and pepper

shrimp, peeled, deveined,

cajun seasoning

garlic,

basil

Add the butter to a large skillet set over medium-high heat. Add the corn and 1/4 teaspoon each of salt and pepper. Cook 5-8 minutes or until the corn has browned lightly and caramelized.

Bring 1 1/2 cups water and 1 1/2 cups milk to a low boil in a medium size pot. Whisk in the polenta and cook 15-20 minutes until thickened. Stir in the parmesan cheese and corn, season with salt and pepper to taste.

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the butter. Add the shrimp, cajun seasoning and a large pinch of pepper. Cook until pink, about 2-3 minutes per side. Stir in the garlic and continue to cook the shrimp in the butter until the garlic begins to caramelize and turn a LIGHT golden brown, about another minute or two. Be careful not to burn the garlic. Remove from the heat and stir in the basil and lemon juice. If needed, season to taste with salt.

Serve the shrimp over the polenta, spooning any sauce left in the pan over the shrimp. EAT!

These grilled shrimp skewers are so quick and easy to make and wonderfully flavored with a lemon and herb marinade.

Lemon (for serving)

Place the olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, oregano, paprika and garlic powder in a large bowl; whisk to combine.

Add the shrimp to the bowl and toss gently to coat evenly with the marinade. Marinate for at least 15 minutes or up to 2 hours max.

Skewer 4-6 shrimp on each soaked skewer and place on a plate while skewering the remaining shrimp.

Heat a grill or grill pan over medium high heat and cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until the color is pink and shrimp is opaque.

Serve warm with fresh parsley and lemon slices, if desired.

One Skillet Lemon Pepper Shrimp and Orzo

Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, divided

lower-sodium chicken or vegetable broth

Tbsp. finely chopped fresh parsley

Pat shrimp dry with a paper towel, and season evenly with 1/2 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. black pepper.Heat 1 Tbsp. each of butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium. Arrange shrimp in skillet, avoiding any overlap; cook 3 minutes, flip, and cook 1 more minute. Transfer to a plate and cover to keep warm.(Note: cook shrimp in two separate batches if skillet isn&#39;t large enough.)

Add remaining 1 Tbsp. each of butter and olive oil to pan. Add shallots and garlic; cook 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until aromatic. Add orzo, stir to coat; cook 1 to 2 minutes, to lightly toast grains.Add broth, remaining 1/2 tsp. salt and 3/4 tsp. cracked black pepper; bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and gently simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, until orzo is al dente and most liquid is absorbed.During the final few minutes, stir in spinach or asparagus. Cover and continue cooking until spinach is wilted (or asparagus is tender with still some bite). Uncover and stir in lemon zest and juice.

Nestle shrimp back into skillet and garnish with fresh parsley and extra cracked black pepper, if desired.*I also love to garnish this dish with sautéed lemon slices, however it&#39;s simply for aesthetics.

This was great!! One strong recommendation would be not to add as much chicken stock. Our pasta ended up "soupy," and we used some cornstarch (recommended by another commenter!) to help thicken. After reading the other comments we decided to use less lemon than suggested, but next time I think I'll use the recommended amount. All in all, still came out DELICIOUS. I will definitely be making this again. &lt;3

Inedible. It unfortunately went in the bin. The lemon was way too much, my partner's stomach is in ribbons.

Good but super lemony, next time i will probably halve the amount of lemon, and I love lemon.

I loved cooking this, I personally think juice and zest of 1 lemon is too much maybe a squirt of lemon when served would be best as I found it took away the taste and made it tarte

Very tasty. Easy to assemble. Found it to be similar, in a way, to a risotto. We made this with the addition of some soft goat cheese (plain Kirkland Signature from Costco), which added a delightful creaminess and some extra richness. Much enjoyed and leftovers for lunch the following day. Reheated well!

Super easy to make and it’s sooo delicious! I added Old Bay to the shrimp with the salt and pepper, and Old Bay and a little bit of chicken bullion instead of salt to the chicken broth. I served it with a tiny bit of freshly shredded parmesan and red chili flakes for a little kick.

This was really good  and easy!     I had smaller amounts of both spinach and asparagus so I used spinach in dish and cooked asparagus and some left over mushrooms on the side and added it later....Was delicious.   Great way to use up bits and pieces.   I added a little cornstarch because it was a little liquidy but next time I'll use a little more orzo 
I forwarded link to my kids.... I think they were a little turned off by the picture hehe (I found through video on instagram)  but hope they try it.
