Marinated in a sweet and savory miso sauce, this Miso Salmon recipe makes a delicious weeknight meal. Enjoy with Japanese ginger rice!

Miso Salmon

½ tsp toasted white and black sesame seeds ((optional))

green onion/scallion ((optional, for garnish))

Gather all the ingredients.

Mix all the ingredients for the marinade in a large bowl or flat tray.

Place the salmon in the bowl, skin side up. Spoon marinade and coat the salmon skin. Cover and keep in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 1 hour. I don’t recommend longer than that as miso is quite salty.

Line a baking sheet with foil (for broil) or parchment paper (for baking). As miso gets burnt easily, remove excess marinade completely from the salmon and place it on the foil/parchment paper.

Preheat the broiler* with a rack placed about 6&quot; (15 cm) away from the top heating element (in the middle), for 3 minutes. Broil medium/high for 10-12 minutes, depending on the thickness of the salmon, until it is a minimum internal temperature of 145°F/63ºC at the thickest part of the fillet. You do not need to flip it. *Broiler typically ranges from Medium/500ºF/260ºC to High/550ºF/288ºC.

To Broil (Recommended)

Preheat the oven to 425°F/218ºC with a rack placed in the middle and bake for 10-12 minutes, you do not need to flip it. Good to remember 5 minutes per 1/2-inch thickness of salmon (measure at the thickest).

To Bake (Optional)

I served the salmon on top of the Ginger Rice. Top the salmon with sesame seeds and thinly sliced scallion.

To Serve

This marinated salmon is fresh salmon fillets flavored with olive oil, garlic and herbs, then grilled or baked to perfection. You'll want to grill salmon all summer long after you taste this easy marinade!

Marinated Salmon

Place the olive oil, honey, soy sauce, lemon zest, parsley, thyme, salt and pepper in a bowl. Whisk to combine.

Reserve 1 tablespoon of the marinade for later use. Add the garlic to the bowl.

Add the salmon and marinade to a resealable freezer bag and seal. Shake to coat the salmon with the marinade.

Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 6 hours.

Remove the salmon from the marinade and scrape off any excess bits of herbs or garlic (otherwise they could burn on the grill!).

Grilling instructions: Preheat an outdoor grill or indoor grill pan over medium high heat. Add the salmon fillets and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side or until salmon is opaque throughout.

Oven instructions: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Place the salmon fillets on a sheet pan lined with cooking spray. Bake for 15 minutes or until salmon is cooked through.

Brush the reserved marinade over the salmon fillets, then serve with lemon wedges if desired.

Our Asian Grilled Salmon Marinade is only FIVE ingredients, spicy, salty, and sweet all in one. Whisk everything together, marinade for as long as you want, and then throw on the grill for the easiest dinner on the planet. 

Asian Grilled Salmon Marinade

tamari or soy sauce

tbsp honey

sambal oelek

tbsp rice vinegar

tsp grated ginger (optional)

Add the soy sauce, honey, sambal oelek, rice vinegar, and ginger (if using) to a plastic bag or shallow baking dish. Whisk to combine. Add salmon filets and coat in the marinade. Marinate for 30 minutes to 1 hour, flipping the salmon to coat again halfway through marinating.

When you&#039;re ready to grill, turn half of the grill on a high heat and the other half on medium-high. Be sure the grill is clean. Brush grates of the grill with canola oil to prevent the salmon from sticking. You can also wet a paper towel with canola oil and quickly oil the grates.

Let all excess marinade drip off the salmon. Season with the salmon with salt and pepper. Add the salmon to the hot part of the grill, skin side down. Grill for 6-7 minutes until the salmon easily removes from the grates. Flip and move the salmon to the cooler side (skin side up) to finish cooking. Continue to grill until cooked through, about 2-3 minutes. If you&#039;re unsure when the salmon is done, use an instant-read thermomtor. Pull the salmon off when a thermomter reaches 125 degrees - this will be just under medium.

While the salmon grills, add the remaining marinade to a saucepan. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer for 4-5 minutes. When the salmon is about a minute from finishing, brush with marinade. Remove the salmon from the grill, cover and let it rest for 3-4 minutes before serving.

Serve with orzo or your favorite side.

Irish Whiskey Salmon

Mix together all the ingredients (except the salmon) together to make the marinade.*Make sure the honey is fully incorporated into the marinade.

Reserve 3 tablespoons of the marinade to use when serving the salmon

Place the salmon fillets in a baking dish or ziplock bag and pour the remainder of the marinade over the salmon.  Make sure to get both sides in the marinade.  *Marinate the salmon in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to one hour

After marinating, wrap the pieces of smoked salmon on the top side of the salmon fillets. The smoked salmon does not have to go all the way around the fillet.*You want the slices of smoked salmon on the top of the fish so it can crisp up.

Preheat oven to Broil

Place the salmon with the marinade in a baking dish, smoked salmon side up. Brush the salmon liberally with the marinade and place the baking dish under the broiler.Broil the salmon for 8-10 minutes or until it starts to get nicely browned on top. This should yield a crispy on the outside and moist on the inside salmon, just a touch underdone.  If you prefer well-done salmon, reduce the broiler temp to 400 and continue to cook for 3-4 minutes longer after the initial broiling.

Feel free to baste the salmon with the marinade in the baking dish once during the process.

Use the reserved marinade to baste the salmon before serving.

30-Minute Salmon Poke Bowls

Start by cooking your rice.

While that is going, put salmon in a glass bowl. Whisk together marinade ingredients. Let sit for 20 minutes while your rice cooks.

Meanwhile, whisk all sriracha sauce ingredients together, and set aside.

When rice is finished, top bowls with salmon, and toppings of choice. My favorite combination is avocado, sesame seeds, green onions, sesame oil, and sriracha sauce.
