Roasted Cabbage Steaks - 5 Ingredients

Pre-heat the over the 400ºF. Rinse the cabbage. Cut off the stems if they are still attached.

Cut the cabbage head in half and then cut each half in half again. In total there should be 4 slices of cabbage that are about 3/4 - 1 inch thick.

Place the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Generously spread olive oil over the slices. Generously add the salt, garlic powder, and Montreal steak seasoning.

Flip the slices over and repeat the previous step.

Bake for 25 minutes or until the leaves are browned and the center is tender.

Serve and enjoy! Caution, they will be hot right out of the oven.

Montreal Steak Seasoning

Tablespoons smoked paprika (optional, if you want "Smoky Montreal Seasoning")

Tablespoon dehydrated onion or onion powder

whole coriander seed

red pepper flakes

Combine the peppercorns, salt, and paprika (optional) in a mortar and pestle or spice grinder. Blend until the peppercorns have almost all broken apart. Add in the rest of the seasonings and blend again until well combined.

Transfer to an airtight jar. The flavors are the best if used immediately, but the blend can be stored at room temperature and used for several months.&nbsp; Great on steaks, roasts, burgers, and more!

Anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows the term “American” is a term referencing the U.S. and its inhabitants.  While Canada is in North America, it is never referenced as “American.”  Perhaps you need a refresher at that “college” you must have attended because they failed to distinguish the term for you.  Maybe they were spending too much time on other non-essentials.  😆😉

Homemade Montreal Steak Seasoning Recipe- Step-By-Step Guide!

tbsp Regular paprika

tbsp Smoked paprika

tbsp Granulated garlic

tbsp Granulated onion

tbsp Red chili flakes

Dill seeds

Black peppercorns

Coriander seeds

Mustard powder (optional)

Mixing bowl

Small saucepan

Mortar and pestle/ spice grinder

Well-fitting

In the mixing bowl, combine together paprika, mustard powder, red chili flakes, granulated garlic, and onion. Mix and keep aside.

Keep the saucepan on low heat and add the black peppercorns, coriander seeds, and dill seeds into it. Dry-roast these spices for about two minutes or until fragrant. Do not over-roast them.

Remove the spices from the saucepan and transfer them to your mortar and pestle. Grind them coarsely until the flavor of the spices is released. Then, add the pre-combined spice mix into the peppercorn, coriander, and dill seed mixture and grind until the flavors of all the spices are well incorporated with each other.

You should get a coarsely ground spice mixture by now. Remove the spices from the mortar and pestle and put them back into the mixing bowl. Add salt and whisk until well combined.

Now you can use your homemade Montreal steak seasoning immediately or store it in a tightly sealed spice jar/container until you need it again.
