Add milk, cubed butter and vanilla. Make sure the butter is in small cubes so it melts evenly.

Stir until all dry mixture is slightly damp. There will clumps of butter.

Heat for 20 seconds on high. Remove and stir well. The butter should be melted.

Microwave

Heat for another 1 minute 15 seconds on high heat. Check and if center is still wet, heat for 15 second intervals until it is fully cooked.

Stir just until the dry ingredients are almost combined. Add the chocolate chips, and stir until well combined. Sprinkle a few more chocolate chips on top, if desired.

Place the mug in the microwave and microwave on high power for 1 minute. The brownie should have risen and still appear moist in spots on the top. Continue cooking in 10-second intervals if the batter still looks raw. Let the brownie cool for a few minutes before serving with ice cream.
