Mulled Wine is a traditional holiday beverage made with red wine and mulling spices. Delicious, cozy, and guaranteed to warm you from the inside out, mulled wine is basically everything you want in life come Christmas time.

Spiced Mulled Wine Recipe

dry red wine (such

brandy

orange (sliced)

cranberries (halved)

blackberries

cloves

star anise

cinnamon

maple syrup (or brown sugar)

Combine all ingredients in a (non-aluminum) pot or saucepan set over medium heat.&nbsp;

Gently bring the wine to a low simmer over medium-low heat- do not boil&nbsp;as this will boil off all the alcohol. Heat for approximately 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

To serve, carefully ladle the mulled wine into the desired number of serving glasses, leaving spices behind for re-use.

Garnish with additional orange slices, blackberries, and cranberries, if desired.

Stovetop

Add all ingredients to a 4-quart slow cooker. Cover and set your slow cooker to LOW. Warm for approximately 1 hour, or until wine is warm throughout. Ladle into glasses leaving behind any spices.

Optional garnishes: orange slices, cinnamon sticks, star anise, cranberries

Add all the ingredients to a large pot over medium-high heat. As soon as you start to see steam rising from the pot, reduce the heat to medium. Keep the pot on the heat for 15 minutes for the spices to infuse the wine.

Strain the mulled wine into mugs or thick-walled wine glasses and top with any or all of the optional garnishes.

Juice

Juice the oranges. Zest the oranges if you don&#39;t have lemons.

Add the red wine, lemon (or orange) zest, sugar, cinnamon sticks, star anise and orange juice to one pot and stir well.

Simmer

Bring to a simmer on a very low heat until the wine begins to foam a little.

Put a lid on top and simmer the wine gently for another 10-15 minutes.

Add the orange liquor ,put the lid back on and turn off the stove. Let it sit for another 3-5 mins.

Serve

Serve the wine through a colander or sieve and into heat resistant glasses.

Use a vegetable peeler to peel 3-4 strips of zest off half of the orange. Slice the remaining half into thin rounds and set aside for garnish.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the red wine, apple cider, and the juice from the zested ½ orange. Add the orange zest, cloves, star anise, and cinnamon sticks. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat and simmer on low for 20 to 30 minutes. Be careful not to let it come to a boil.

Stir in the ginger juice, if using. Taste, and if you like your mulled wine sweeter, add more apple cider. If you like it more spiced, add more whole spices and simmer for 15 more minutes.

Remove from the heat, strain, and pour into a pitcher or mugs. Serve with the reserved orange rounds and cinnamon sticks. Garnish with rosemary sprigs and cranberries, if desired.

Wash the oranges and cut them into slices. You can save a few slices for decoration.

Add the wine, cinnamon sticks, orange slices, cloves, sugar, rum (optional), star anise (optional), and cardamom (optional) to a pot. Put on the lid and heat the mixture on low heat for about one hour. It's important that the wine doesn't come to a boil as this will evaporate the alcohol. Check on the wine occasionally and give it a stir.

After one hour, try the mulled wine and add more sugar to taste (optional).

Pour the wine through a sifter before serving to capture the spices and orange slices.

Serve with the orange slice (fresh slices or the slices from inside the brewing pot) and enjoy!

This Spiced Mulled Wine is made easily in 20 minutes! It’s simmered with warm spices, slightly sweetened with simple syrup and so cozy!

Add the wine and all the other ingredients except the simple syrup to a pot. Bring to a medium-low heat, and stir together. Allow to simmer slightly for 20 minutes. Remove from heat, serve and enjoy! Feel free to sweeten it with simple syrup of your choice such, such as my cranberry rosemary simple syrup.
