Oven Roasted Broccoli (Baked Broccoli)

broccoli

olive oil

garlic powder

sea salt

paprika

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

Grease a large baking sheet, set aside.

In a small bowl mix together garlic powder, sea salt, paprika and black pepper. Set aside.

Place broccoli pieces in a large bowl, drizzle with olive oil and stir until evenly coated.

Sprinkle half of the spice mixture over the broccoli, stir and repeat with the second half and stir until evenly distributed.

Spread seasoned broccoli evenly on the prepared baking sheet.

Roast at 450 degrees for 14- 15 minutes, or until the broccoli is nicely roasted, stirring once halfway through. (Note: the size you cut the florets into will effect the baking time (smaller florets = shorter bake time, larger florets = longer bake time). So keep that in mind)!

If necessary, broil the broccoli for 1-2 minutes at the end of roasting time to crisp it up (I find this is only necessary if using frozen broccoli).

Remove from oven and serve immediately.

Perfect Roasted Broccoli Recipe

Oven roasted broccoli is a great way to serve broccoli to kids and babies. The hot oven transforms the vegetable making it sweet, tender with crispy edges. Add your favourite toppings for extra kid appeal.

Medium Broccoli heads (*See Note 1)

Garlic cloves, finely sliced

tbsp Olive oil

(* See Note 2)

Preheat oven to 180C/350F

Cut broccoli away from stem, into florets. Slice each floret into 2 /3 slices (see picture above). Pile onto baking tray along with the sliced garlic.&nbsp;

Drizzle with the olive oil and use your fingers to toss the broccoli until the florets are evenly coated. Season with salt (optional) and spread out over a baking tray in a single layer. *SEE NOTE 4

Bake for approx. 20 minutes until the tips of the florets are slightly browned and crispy.&nbsp;

Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle over the parmesan cheese. Serve straight away

Preheat the oven to 425 F (215 C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Optional: For more tender and easier to digest broccoli our preferred method is to lightly steam it first. To steam the broccoli, place a steamer basket in a large pot. Fill the pot with at least 1/4-inch of water, but not so much that it touches the bottom of the steamer basket. Bring water to a boil, then add broccoli florets to the steamer basket and cook for 2-4 minutes or until bright green and just tender enough to pierce with a fork. Remove from the pot and set aside until cool enough to handle.

To the parchment-lined baking sheet, add (raw or steamed) broccoli florets. Drizzle with oil then sprinkle with vegan parmesan cheese, salt, and garlic (optional). Toss to evenly coat the broccoli, making sure each floret is laying on its flattest side and no florets are overlapping.

Bake for 10-15 minutes or until broccoli is golden brown on the edges and tender when pierced with a fork.

Best when fresh. Leftovers will keep stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat leftovers in a cast-iron skillet until warmed through. Not freezer friendly.
