RED WHITE & BLUE CUPCAKES

A historic ham and bean soup recipe that&#039;s always on the Senate menu for a reason.

Senate Bean Soup (The Official Recipe)

dry navy beans

smoked ham hock

water

onion, diced

butter

kosher salt, to taste (I do about 2 teaspoons)

black pepper,

Rinse the navy beans and pick over. Place beans into large pot with two quarts of cold water and the ham hock. Bring just to a boil, then lower to a simmer and cook for approximately three hours in a partially-covered pot, stirring occasionally, until the beans have fully softened.

Remove ham hocks and set aside to cool. Meanwhile, lightly brown the onion in butter and add to the soup. Pull meat from the ham hocks and return to soup. Stir. Before serving, bring to a boil and season with salt and pepper.

Kraft Marshmallow Fluff

Sugar Cookies (store bought

Strawberries

Blueberries

Sprinkles (optional)

Bake the sugar cookies (store bought or homemade) I like mine soft but don’t make them too soft or they’ll fall apart.

Once you’ve baked the cookies, let them sit for a few to cool before putting on the marshmallow fluff or it’ll melt all over it.

Once they’ve cooled go ahead and put the marshmallow fluff on them like icing. Once they sit a minute it’ll be flat so don’t worry about getting them perfectly even.

Then get your fruit and cut the strawberries into 4th and wash both blueberries and strawberries.Place a few strawberries and blueberries on top of the fluff.

Sprinkles are optional but they make a cute little touch! I added some patriotic stars!

This berry cheesecake salad recipe is the perfect patriotic dessert for Memorial Day and 4th of July with strawberries, blueberries and cream cheese filling.

8-oz. package cream cheese,

salt

large (16-oz.) tub cool whip, thawed

mini marshmallows

Patriotic Poke Cake

For the cake:

all-purpose flour

baking powder

⅓ cup Splenda® Stevia Sweetener Jar

vegetable oil spread, room temperature

eggs

milk

whipped topping

strawberries,

For the pudding:

(1.5-ounce) box vanilla sugar-free fat-free instant pudding mix

Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 13” x 9” baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. In a large bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt together until combined. In another large bowl, using a hand mixer, beat sweetener and oil spread on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until well combined.

Add dry ingredients and milk to wet ingredients and beat until just combined. Pour batter evenly into prepared pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 30-40 minutes. Poke cake with the end of a wooden spoon in 1-inch intervals. Allow to cool in pan completely before frosting, about 30 minutes.

Spread pudding evenly over cake, gently pushing it into the holes. Cover and refrigerate until pudding is set, 1-2 hours.

Spread whipped topping in an even layer over cake. Place strawberries and blueberries on top of cake in the shape of an American flag. Slice and serve.

In a large bowl, whisk milk and pudding mix together until combined and slightly thickened.

Red White and Blue Cookies that are festive and delicious!

Patriotic Chocolate Chip Cookies

butter, room temperature

brown sugar

vanilla

baking soda

flour

chocolate chips

red and blue food coloring

golden star sprinkles, if desired

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

In the bowl of your stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment mix the butter and both sugars together for 2 minutes on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add in the egg, vanilla, salt, and baking soda and continue mixing for 1 minute until smooth, scraping the sides of the bowl as necessary.

Turn the mixer to low and add in the flour, mixing until just incorporated.

Divide the cookie dough into 3 equal portions. Using the food coloring, color one portion of the dough red, and the other blue, leaving one uncolored.

Roll each dough into approximately a 15-inch rope. Place the three next to each other on a large piece of cling wrap. Wrap the cling wrap up tightly, pressing the doughs together forming a large log. Remove the cling wrap and breaking off the dough with your hands into approximately 2-tablespoon portions. Roll the dough into a loose ball and place it onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 9 minutes or until the edges are set. Don&#8217;t over bake these!!

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 3-4 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

If desired sprinkle with star sprinkles, pressing them gently into the warm cookie.

Made these in a jelly roll pan without the food coloring for a quick version. Baked at 350 for 25 minutes and they came out great!

I didn’t use your recipe for cookie dough,  but for inspiration using my much loved recipe...so happy how they came out!

We made these to send out with our weekly meals for our senior citizens - they came out great !

These were actually very easy to make and turned out yummy!  I didn’t end up with large cookies because I was worried they might run but they held their size.  I used drops of food coloring and it did turn out a bit pastel like but still a success!

These were fantastic and looked great! I chilled my dough, so they turned out soft and fluffy, just like I like them. This will be my new chocolate chip cookie recipe! Better than Tollhouse! I used regular butter and baked them about 8-9 mins. Also, I used liquid food color, and they aren't quite as bright as yours, but they still look very festive.

Dissolve the Jello in the boiling water. Stir until the powder is completely dissolved.

Add the applesauce and mix well.

Spray an 8x8 baking pan with cooking spray.

Pour the Jello mix in the prepared pan.

Allow to set for at least 3 hours.

Serve chilled with fruit and whipped cream.

Assembled in only 20 minutes, this Triple Berry Trifle festive, colorful, and impressive! This easy dessert recipe is a simple way to feed a crowd.

Triple Berry Trifle Dessert

½ loaves pound cake ((store bought

heavy cream

cream cheese ((softened))

lemon zest

white sugar

strawberries ((sliced))

raspberries

Cut pound cake into 1” cubes. You can use store-bought pound cake or prepare your own. (I used a Betty Crocker Pound Cake Box Mix that makes 2 standard-sized loaves).

Using a cold bowl and a high speed mixer, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. This will take several minutes. Set aside a few of each type of berry for garnishing.

In a large bowl, beat together the cream cheese, lemon zest and sugar. Mix in ¼ cup of whole milk. Fold in the whipped cream. The mixture should be thick but spreadable.

Add cake cubes into the bottom of your trifle dish in 2 layers.

Top with ½ of each type of berry.

Top with ½ of the whipped cream mixture.

Repeat the layers of cake, berries and whipped cream. Top your trifle with a few berries of each kind and a dollop more of whipped cream.

Greek yogurt

Splenda® Granulated Sweetener

vegetable oil

For the layers:

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour an 8 ½” x 4 ½” loaf pan.

In a medium bowl sift flour, baking powder and salt until combined. In a separate large bowl whisk together yogurt, Splenda Granulated Sweetener, eggs and vanilla. Add in flour mixture and fold until just incorporated. Fold in oil until combined.

Pour batter into prepared pan and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour to 1 hour and 10 minutes. If cake begins to brown too much, tent with foil after 50 minutes. Let cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and let cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes. Cut cake into 1-inch cubes and set aside.

In a medium bowl beat together yogurt and Splenda Granulated Sweetener. Fill bottom of trifle dish with a single layer of cake cubes. Spread 1/3 of yogurt mixture over cake cubes. Top with a thin layer of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Repeat process for a total of 3 layers, ending with a layer of berries. Chill until ready to serve.
