This was an easy and very satisfying recipe. I didnt use nuts and instead of ice cream we used vanilla greek yogurt. My husband loved this and said the yogurt was much better than ice cream. Definitely making again!

Fabulous dessert! Even my 10 year old, who doesn't like 'fruit' desserts, devoured hers.  Our family of 5 enjoyed it plain, with vanilla ice cream, or with Cool Whip. I look forward to putting a  Costco bag of rapidly ripening  pears to good use again soon!

Cinnamon Baked Pears are the Healthy Version of Pie!

This easy pear crumble combines warm pears, ginger and a touch of pure maple syrup with a sweet and crunchy oat topping for a simple yet satisfying dessert.

Maple Ginger Pear Crumble

½ cup old fashioned oats

flour (gluten-free OK)

unsalted butter

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Prep 4 ramekins with cooking spray or butter. Place on a baking sheet lined with foil because things will get bubbly!

Mix the pears, ginger, cornstarch, maple syrup and vanilla. Set aside.

Combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, salt and cinnamon. Using a pastry cutter, fork or your hands, cut the butter into the oat mixture until it takes on a crumb-like appearance.

Heap 1 cup of the pear mixture into each of the ramekins. Top with 2 tablespoons of crumble topping.

Bake until juices bubble and the topping becomes golden brown, about 35-40 minutes.

Let cool slightly. Serve warm.

Easy Pear Crisp

6-7 medium pears, peeled and sliced (about 6 cups total)*

nutmeg

(½ cup) salted butter, softened

all-purpose flour

oats

sugar

finely-chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray an 8-inch square baking dish with cooking spray.

Place peeled, sliced pears in a large bowl. Add vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ¼ teaspoon salt; toss to coat.

Transfer pears to the prepared baking dish.

In a separate bowl, use a fork (or your fingers) to mix together butter, flour, oats, white sugar, brown sugar, pecans, and salt until completely combined. The mixture will be lumpy, which is fine.

Spread topping evenly over the pears.

Sprinkle with more cinnamon, if desired.

Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top becomes golden brown and crispy and the pears are soft. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Generously grease an 8x8 baking pan or 9 inch skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.

To make the topping: Combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon and walnuts in a large bowl until well-combined. Pour in the melted butter and use your hands to combine until the mixture becomes crumbly and resembles wet sand. You may need to use your hands/fingers to form into nice crumbles. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the fridge until ready to use.
