Moist, fluffy Protein Banana Bread full of banana flavor and with 9 grams of protein. This easy, one bowl recipe is also naturally sweetened!

Protein Banana Bread Recipe

large over ripe bananas (1 1/3 cups mashed)

eggs

applesauce (unsweetened)

maple syrup

vanilla extract

cinnamon

baking powder

baking soda

salt

whey protein powder (I used vanilla flavor)

oat flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, line metal 9 x 5 loaf pan with parchment paper and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, add bananas and mash with a fork or masher. Then add eggs, applesauce, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Whisk until combined.

Add whey protein powder and oat flour, stir gently with spatula to combine.

Pour batter into previously prepared loaf pan and bake for 60-65 minutes or until the toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Remove protein banana bread from the oven and let cool off for 10 minutes. Then remove bread from a loaf pan, transfer to a cooling rack and let it cool for another hour or so.

Slice with serrated knife, it works best with breads to keep them from falling apart.

Puree the bananas and measure out 1 1/2 cups and add to a large mixing bowl.

Transfer to your prepared loaf pan and top with additional chocolate chips if desired.

This vegan protein banana bread is moist, tender, and full of banana flavor. Each slice packs a whooping 8g of plant-based protein! Made in one bowl with only 10 ingredients, this protein banana bread is perfect for breakfast, as a snack, or even dessert!

Vegan Protein Banana Bread

flour

vegan protein powder

tsp baking powder

tsp baking soda

tsp salt

tsp ground cinnamon (optional)

bananas

neutral oil

almond milk

tsp vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 350 °F (175°C) and line a 8x4-inch loaf pan.

Whisk together the dry ingredients. Add the flour, vegan protein powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon to a large mixing bowl. Whisk until everything is combined.

Mash the bananas. Peel the bananas and mash them using a fork, or transfer them to a blender and blend until smooth. The first method will give you a texture with small chunks of bananas, while the blender method will yield a smoother, more uniform texture.

Add the liquid ingredients. Next, add the mashed bananas, oil, almond milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients.

Mix until combined. Using a wooden spoon or spatula, mix the liquid ingredients with the dry ingredients until combined. Do not overmix.

Stir in your add-ins. At this point, feel free to customize the batter by incorporating chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruits.

Transfer the batter. Transfer the banana bread batter to the prepared baking pan and spread it into an even layer. At this point, you can top it with chocolate chips or nuts.

Bake. Finally, bake the banana bread for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.

You can keep this protein banana bread for up to 5 days at room temperature. Keep it covered with plastic wrap to maintain its moisture.

This was so good! Very moist and you cannot tell there's added protein. I liked it so much that I used the same basic recipe, but substituted the banana for pureed mango and the cinnamon for cardamom, plus added some shredded coconut. So good! Thank you for a delicious and versatile recipe.

Just tried it, excellent. I used Ghost protein powder and it tasted amazing! Thank you for sharing.

Satisfy your sweet cravings while fueling up on protein with this decadent banana bread. High-Protein, Low-Carb Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

banana, ripe

peanut butter (smooth)

cottage cheese

chocolate

tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut

walnuts

vanilla

Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a loaf pan with parchment paper. Lightly grease the parchment to prevent sticking.

Place the banana, eggs, peanut butter, cottage cheese, and baking powder in a blender or food processor.

Blend on high until you have a smooth, creamy batter with no visible lumps.

Carefully pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan.

Evenly sprinkle the sugar-free chocolate chips over the top of the batter.

Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50–55 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; if it comes out mostly clean (melted chocolate is fine), your banana bread is ready.

Remove the loaf pan from the oven and let the bread cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing to help it set.

Slice into 8 portions and enjoy warm or at room temperature.

This high protein banana bread is perfectly moist, fluffy and super easy to make. It's packed with 13 grams of protein per slice and makes for a great healthy snack or breakfast option to meal prep for the week.

vanilla protein powder (I used Nuzest)

sea salt

full fat Greek yogurt

mashed ripe bananas (3 medium bananas)

chocolate chips (plus more for topping)

Preheat

Preheat oven to 350°F and line a loaf pan with parchment or spray with cooking spray.

Mix dry ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: oat flour, almond flour, protein powder, baking soda, baking powder and sea salt.

Mix wet ingredients

In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: Greek yogurt, maple syrup, bananas, eggs and vanilla extract.

Combine

Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.

Fold in chocolate chips

Pour batter

Pour the batter into prepared loaf pan. Top with additional chocolate chips.

Bake

Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean. It’s okay if it doesn’t come out fully clean as the bread will continue to bake in pan. Check at 30 minutes and cover with tin foil to help the top from browning too much, if needed.

I just made this today after making your oat flour banana bread every week since the recipe came out. I wanted to try a higher protein option and I must say they taste similar but I think this one might be better. I used Sun Warrior vanilla protein powder and I didn't have any yogurt on hand so I used sour cream! I think it really made the difference. So good!

Love it! I make this for the kids to bring as part of their lunch. I’ve made it as muffins too.

Come out perfect everytime! Do you store on counter or fridge?

This is becoming a weekly staple for our house! Making one this morning and also halved the recipe to make some muffins to share with friends! I use HU chocolate gems and smash them up a bit. Thanks for an amazing recipe!

Absolutely delicious & so easy. I used nonfat Greek yogurt because that’s what I had and it turned out great. Other than that, I followed the recipe exactly.

Came out delicious! Followed the recipe EXACTLY. I’m so happy to have finally found a healthy treat that I can eat whenever and that tastes good! I

Came out absolutely amazing! Mine was done in about 40 min. I like to slightly undercook.

This healthy High Protein Banana Bread is packed with whole grains, fresh fruit, melty chocolate chips, & no refined sugar.

High Protein Banana Bread

bananas ((about 2-3 bananas))

plain Greek yogurt

coconut sugar ((or brown sugar, packed))

½ tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

whole wheat pastry flour

chocolate chips (divided)

Preheat oven to 350° and grease a loaf tin.

In a large bowl, mash your bananas until smooth.

Whisk in eggs, plain Greek yogurt, coconut sugar, and vanilla extract until no lumps of Greek yogurt remain and everything is well combined. Whisk in the baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon.

Stir in the flour and protein powder and mix until just combined. Fold in about half the chocolate chips.

Pour the batter into your prepared loaf tin, and top with the remaining chocolate chips. Bake in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes, covering halfway through with aluminum foil to prevent over-browning.

After baking, allow to cool, then slice and serve!

Fabulous!

I used all purpose flour as that's what I had. This turned out great. Wound up making two loaves as I had that many bananas to use.

I would totally make this again.

I really loved this recipe! I used chocolate protein powder & cottage cheese (blended till smooth) instead of Greek yogurt bc that’s what I had on hand & it turned out delicious.

Used white flour as a straight across substitute and did not add the chocolate chips as we didn't have any on hand and the family loved it! We have made it twice now and am planning to make it again tomorrow. Thank you for posting this recipe!

I'm wondering if you know of a way to make it Gluten Free? I am avoiding gluten and would love to be able to eat it as well =)

This is such a great recipe for protein banana bread! I dabble in making protein snacks a few times a week and I’ve never felt super satisfied with any recipe until now. I made a few adjustments to accommodate what I already had so I know I was increasing room for error but this still came out so good! I used 1/4 cup Greek yogurt instead of 1/2 cup, no sugar!, 1/4 cup chocolate protein powder, and about 3tbsp of cacao powder.
I have a big sweet tooth and was so happy with the outcome (without extra sugar). The subtle sweetness of the banana was perfect. Light and smooth. With the addition of the cacao powder this reminded me of a light Mexican chocolate bread that I loved eating growing up. 10/10 thank you for this!!
