<em>Soft-baked red velvet chocolate chip cookie recipe made from scratch! This cookie dough must chill for at least 1 hour.</em>

Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Cookies

(21 grams) unsweetened natural cocoa powder

baking soda

salt

(115 grams) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

(150 grams) packed light or dark brown sugar

(50 grams) granulated sugar

egg,

Tablespoon milk (I use buttermilk)

vanilla extract

Tablespoon red food coloring (liquid, gel,

chocolate

Whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt together in a large bowl. Set aside.

Using a handheld or stand mixer with a paddle attachment, beat the butter on high speed until creamy, about 1 minute. Scrape down the sides and the bottom of the bowl as needed. Beat in the brown sugar and granulated sugar until combined and creamy, about 1 minute. Beat in the egg, milk, and vanilla extract, scraping down the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed. Once mixed, add the food coloring and beat until combined. Turn the mixer off and pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Turn the mixer on low and slowly beat until a very soft dough is formed. Beat in more food coloring if you&#8217;d like the dough to be brighter red. On low speed, beat in the chocolate chips. The dough will be sticky.

Cover the dough tightly with aluminum foil or plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour (and up to 3 days&#8211; see make ahead tip). Chilling is mandatory.

Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. Set aside.

Scoop 1.5 Tablespoons of dough and roll into a ball, as pictured above. Place 9 balls onto each baking sheet. Bake each batch for 11-12 minutes. The cookies may have only spread slightly, that&#8217;s ok. Simply press down on the warm cookies to slightly flatten and form crinkles. Stick a few chocolate chips into the tops of the warm cookies (as explained in the post above) &#8211; that&#8217;s optional and only for looks.

Allow the cookies to cool on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Awful recipe. The dough isn't at all what they show in the video. I had to add a LOT more of flour to make it decent enough to handle. The filling was incredibly runny but I can give that to the fact that I used light cream cheese (the one I had), but it was impossible to do with the amount of ingredients of the dough (and I used a scale for everything). Thank God I did 1/3 of the recipe; I was planning on 6 and I managed to get 3 cookies.

I would make a little more dough. I had a hard time covering the filling. They taste good though.

The cookie dough was tasty...until death knocked on my door. Everything disintegrated in my house except for my oven and my cookie dough. The cookie dough was extremely crumbly when rolled out and persisted to break. The cookie dough would not close when the filling was put. It just turned out to be a big disastrous mess. I am an experienced baker and these absolute horrors make me reconsider my life choices and my profession choice. I am probably going to end my career here because of this. Least the cookie dough tastes nice and was really quick to make.

I had trouble enveloping the cream cheese filling cuz the dough was just too soft and wet. It might work better if you chilled the dough for maybe 30 minutes in the fridge before handling it. In the end, though fussy, it was still a good cookie.

These cookies are AMAZING! I just made a batch for Mother's Day, and they are a hit! I actually printed out this recipe after I finished making them, which I never do. There is a little bit of extra filling, but it's so good, we just dipped strawberries in it! They may not be "true red velvet," but they taste just like it! Will 100% make these again.

The dough was much too wet & soft to flatten or roll so I refrigerated it until I could work with it.

Awesome cookies. Not too difficult to make and really good. I suggest making some cookie ‘patties’  first (maybe a dozen), then start adding the filling to each, then go back with clean hands and close them up. It’s hard to make a cookie from start to stop bc your hands get dirty. Also good news is when they came from the oven the filling was showing but when they cooled the open parts closed up! Seems I used too much cocoa powder bc these don’t have room for red but they’re tasty nonetheless.

Delicious red velvet sugar cookie bars with cream cheese frosting without all of the hard work!

Red Velvet Sugar Cookie Bars with Cream Cheese Frosting

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Have a 9x13 inch pan ready. I like to line mine with aluminum foil and spray it with cooking spray so that the bars easily lift out and are easy to cut.

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder. Set aside.

In a mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup butter softened and sugar until light and creamy. About 2-3 minutes. Beat in the eggs, vanilla, and food coloring until combined.

Add the flour mixture until a soft dough forms. Press into the bottom of the 9x13 inch pan. Bake for about 20 minutes until the edges start to pull away from the sides and a toothpick entered into the center comes out clean. Allow to completely cool before frosting.

To make the cream cheese frosting, Beat together the cream cheese and butter. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat together until smooth. Frost the top of the bars and enjoy!

We LOVE these delicious red velvet cookies with cream cheese filling. A chewy cookies with hints of chocolate and vanilla, sandwiched with cream cheese frosting in the center.

Red Velvet Cookies

For the cookies:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.

Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt.

In a separate mixing bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the egg and red food coloring and mix to combine.

Add the dry ingredients and mix on low speed, just until combined.

Use a tablespoon measurer to scoop the dough and then roll into balls (should make 24 cookies).

Line the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets. Use a measuring cup or the palm of your hand to gently flatten the balls just slightly.

Bake until edges start setting, about  8-9 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes on baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth.

Add powdered sugar and vanilla and mix until smooth. Add more powdered sugar or a splash of milk, if needed, until desired consistency is reached.

Once the cookies have cooled, add a small spoonful of cream cheese filling onto one cookie. Place another cookie on top and press them together to make a cookie sandwich.

These red velvet kiss cookies are a colorful spin on traditional peanut butter blossoms. Feel free to use other chocolate candies such as Rolos, peanut butter cups, or other small chocolates.

Red Velvet Kiss Cookies

32-36 Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped

sugar (100 grams)

Whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt together in a medium bowl. Set aside.

Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer fitted with paddle attachment, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together on medium speed until creamy, about 2 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix on high until combined, about 1 minute. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed.

Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, add the milk and food coloring, then then mix on low speed until everything is combined. The dough will be sticky. If you want a more vibrant hue, beat in more food coloring a little at a time. Cover and chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (and up to 3 days). If chilling for longer than a few hours, allow dough to sit at room temperature for at least 15 minutes before rolling and baking because the dough will be quite hard.

Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. Set aside. Also, make sure there&#8217;s room in your freezer because the cookies will need to be placed inside to prevent the chocolates from melting.

Roll &amp; coat

Scoop and roll cookie dough, about 1 Tablespoon of dough each. Roll each ball in the 1/2 cup of sugar and arrange on the baking sheet about 3 inches apart.

Bake for 11-13 minutes or until the edges appear set. Centers will look very soft. Mine usually take 12 minutes. Remove cookies from the oven and cool for just 5-10 minutes on the baking sheets.

Set the chocolate

Press a Hershey&#8217;s Kiss into the center of each, then using a thin spatula, immediately transfer the cookies to a large plate or a few smaller plates (gently&#8211; they&#8217;re soft). Place the plate(s) of cookies in the freezer for 10 minutes to quickly set the chocolate kiss in the cookie.

Cookies stay fresh covered at room temperature for up to 1 week.

These cookies are easy to make, cute, and soft and tasty. I made two batches, chilled overnight. I used red gel coloring and never got a very vibrant red. The second batch came out more red, but I used a full teaspoon of coloring. I did use the holiday peppermint Hershey's kisses (red &amp; white swirl) so that might be playing with the color perception. Overall a festive holiday cookie!

Perfection. Made according to your directions. Followed them to a t. Added 1 T of liquid red food coloring and the color was just right.  Love them!!   Making a second batch right now because these won’t last lol. Going to freeze some. Give some away tomorrow.  Learning to enjoy the season while in the season. I made these tonight and they are the perfect Christmas cookie! I followed Sally's tips and have had no issues. I highly recommend this recipe.

I had the same problem as others .... flat cookies despite the extra T of flour and chilling.  Even used a scant T of red coloring.   

These are a great alternative to peanut blossoms. They are very rich with the milk chocolate kiss. I roll mine in alternating holiday colored sugar and nonpareils. They are festive and pretty. These would also be awesome with the Hershey cheesecake candy cane kisses.

Another winning recipe from you, Sally! The taste was amazing, however I could not get these to look red, despite using about a tablespoon of the gel food coloring. I wonder if it was bc I used dark brown sugar. Next time I will use the light brown sugar and see if the color comes through better then.

I LOVE EVERYTHING about these cookies from the appearance and texture to the taste.  The cookies were a huge hit and will be placed at the top of my Christmas cookie list and baked throughout the year.   I took the cookies out of the oven at 10 1/2 minutes, placed/pressed the Hershey's kisses onto them and baked another 1 1/2 minutes and they were PERFECT. Thank you!!!

Thanks Sally! Do you have a quick and easy way to make confectioners sugar? I am making these again this afternoon, so I would like to know. Also, is there any specific shop to buy Hershey's Kisses, or can you substitute them for something else? I might use round chocolate melts, if  that's ok to use? I use your recipes a lot, and I'm wondering if you have a more elaborate wedding cake to use?

Hi Sally! I made them today and they were divine! They turned out thick and dense as I popped them in the freezer after scooping them out with a cookie scoop. Were they dense because I used only brown sugar? Or were they dense because I added more gel colouring in a bid to get a brighter hue and ended up over mixing the dough???

I didn't roll them in sugar. Instead I sprinkled confectioner sugar as the dough was sticky; I didn't feel like dirtying my hands yet again. ;p

And I inserted a mini Snicker bar as Hershey Kiss is expensive in Singapore.

These are beautiful decadent cookies that are perfect for holidays or parties. All the classic flavors of red velvet cake in sandwiched, cream filled cookie form!

Red Velvet Oreos

Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

Position oven racks in the upper and lower thirds of the oven, preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line two cookie sheets with Silpat liners or parchment paper.

In a mixing bowl whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt to combine. In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment beat together butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Mix in egg and food coloring. With mixer set on low speed add dry ingredients and mix until combined.

Shape the dough into balls, about 1 slightly heaping tablespoon each, and place the dough balls 3-inches apart on prepared baking sheets. Using your fingers lying flat (or the bottom of a drinking glass if it's not too sticky for you), evenly flatten the dough balls slightly. Bake until edges start setting, about 7 - 8 minutes. Cool on baking sheet several minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

To make the filling:

In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat together powdered sugar, shortening, butter, water and vanilla until light and fluffy.

Place the filling in a pastry bag fitted with 1/2-inch round tip. Turn half of the cookies over with bottoms facing upright and pipe about 1 Tbsp of the filling over cookies. Place remaining 1/2 of cookies over frosted cookies to sandwich cookies together. Store in an airtight container.

These Crumbl red velvet white chocolate chip cookies are the ultimate treat. They are soft and chewy and packed with white chocolate chips.

CRUMBL red velvet white chocolate chip cookies

all purpose flour ((192 grams))

Preheat the oven to 350F then line a large baking sheet with parchement paper and set aside.

In a medium bowl, mix the flour, corn starch, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt together and set aside.

In a large bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar together.

Add in the egg, vanilla extract, vinegar, and red gel food coloring and mix until combined.

Add in thedry mixture and mix just until the flour mixture disappears. Fold in the white chocolate chips.

Using a large cookie scooper, scoop out 8 equally sized cookies dough balls. Pull each cookie dough ball in half then press the two pieces together, keeping the jagged-edge side facing up (check the photos) then place on the lined baking sheet.

Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 9 minutes then let them cool down on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Enjoy with a tall glass of cold milk!

Red Velvet White Chip Cookies from Crumbl are giant, gooey cookie with a rich red velvet flavor packed with white chocolate chips. This is a copycat version of Crumbl&#39;s Cookie. 

Red Velvet White Chip Crumbl Cookies

tbsp vanilla extract

all purpose flour

red food coloring

white chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350°.

Cream together the butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar.

Add the egg and vanilla. Mix until light in color and creamy.

Add in the dry ingredients (flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt), mix into the dough. Mix until completely combined. The dough will be soft.

Mix in the red food coloring, then fold in the white chocolate chips.

Use a 1/2 cup measuring cup to portion out the dough. Roll the dough and flatten them slightly. Arrange 6 cookies per cookie sheet. This will make 12 cookies.

Bake at 350° for 15-17 minutes- the cookies should spread slightly, crackle a little bit and the centers should no look shiny and wet anymore.

Allow the cookies to cool for at least 10 minutes on the pan before serving. Serve warm.

These Easy Red Velvet Cake Mix Cookies only require 4 simple ingredients and are ready in less than 30 minutes. These cookies are the perfect easy treat for Valentine's Day too!

Red Velvet Cake Mix Cookies

(16.5-ounce) box red velvet cake mix

(80 ml) oil

eggs (at room temperature)

(190 grams) white chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, add the cake mix, oil, and eggs and mix until fully combined. Add in the white chocolate chips and fold into the dough until well combined. Scoop two tablespoon sized balls of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, making sure to leave a little room between each one.

Bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes or until the tops of the cookies are set. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool for 5 to 10 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer them to a wire rack to finish cooling.
