Instant Pot Ribs

pork

salt

black pepper

garlic powder

chili powder

onion powder

brown sugar

apple juice (, or 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar)

liquid smoke (, optional*)

barbecue sauce (, homemade

Remove membranes from the back of ribs, if needed.

Rubs seasonings over both sides of ribs.

Place wire trivet rack in the bottom of the instant pot.

Add water, apple juice (or apple cider vinegar) and liquid smoke (optional, but recommended for that great smokey flavor).

Place the ribs upright, with the meat side facing out. If you’re using one large rack of ribs, then circle them around the pot.

Secure lid and close vent.

Press “manual” or “pressure cook” and cook on high pressure for 25 minutes.

When the timer beeps, allow the pressure to naturally release for 15 min, then turn the valve to quick release.

Carefully remove ribs to a large, foil-lined baking sheet and slather them in BBQ sauce.

Optional: broil them in the oven for 2-3 minutes to caramelize the bbq sauce.

Instant Pot Pork RIbs

 The most crazy-tender, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs you&#x27;ve ever tasted, made in your slow cooker! These SLOW COOKER RIBS couldn&#x27;t be easier to make, and the end result will knock your socks off! 

Slow Cooker Ribs

pork ribs ((*see note below))

barbecue sauce ((*see note))

salt and black pepper

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.&nbsp;

Season the ribs generously on both sides with salt and pepper. Rub garlic powder, onion powder and brown sugar onto both sides of the ribs.&nbsp;

Line a large baking sheet with tinfoil or parchment paper. Bake the ribs on prepared pan for 15 minutes.&nbsp;

Flip the ribs to the other side and bake for another 15 minutes.

Layer ribs in your slow cooker.&nbsp;

Smother them in barbecue sauce, reserving some sauce for serving later.&nbsp;

Cover and cook on HIGH for 3- 3.5 hours, or LOW for 6 - 7 hours. Serve warm with extra barbecue sauce.

Whether in a restaurant or backyard, Baby Back Ribs are one of the most iconic dishes in the world of BBQ. Nothing says BBQ satisfaction like a wad of sauce-covered paper towels, sticky fingers, and a pile of clean, white bones. While there are a variety of cook methods for fine baby back ribs, I’ll be sharing the technique I’ve used most frequently to achieve smoky, sweet ribs that are moist &amp; juicy but still fall right off the bone – the 3-2-1 method.

3-2-1 BBQ Baby Back Ribs

Baby Back Ribs

Olive Oil, Hot Sauce, or Mustard

Your Favorite Pork Dry Rub

Apple Juice

Brown Sugar

Honey

Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil

Offset Smoker, Pellet Grill, Ceramic Grill, or Charcoal Grill

Prepare the Ribs

Rinse the ribs with cold water. Use a knife and paper towel to remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Trim off any loose pieces of meat or fat.

Season the Ribs

Apply a thin coat of mustard, olive oil, or hot sauce to the ribs. Season generously with your favorite pork dry rub, and pat down gently to ensure it sticks.

Smoke the Ribs

Smoke the ribs for 3 hours at 225 degrees, spritzing with apple juice every 30 minutes to keep the surface of the ribs moist.

Wrap the Ribs

Remove the ribs from the smoker and place them on the heavy duty aluminum foil. Drizzle honey and brown sugar on the top of the ribs. Fold up the sides of the foil to create a sealed pouch. Before closing the pouch, pour in 1/4 cup apple juice. Return the pouch to the smoker and cook at 225 for another 2 hours.

Sauce the Ribs

Remove the pouch of ribs from the smoker. Unwrap the ribs and coat the top with a generous coat of BBQ sauce. Return to the smoker uncovered for 15-30 minutes, or until the sauce looks solid and tacky. Remove from the smoker, slice into individual ribs, and enjoy!

Smoked Bourbon BBQ Baby Back Ribs

baby back ribs (, membrane removed)

yellow mustard

apple juice

Worcestershire sauce

dry rub

honey

Tbsp butter

Tbsp bourbon (, divided (or more apple juice))

bbq sauce

Lay out 4 large sheets of aluminum foil and set aside.  Fill hopper of smoker with wood pellets, I usually use hickory, but pecan or cherry would work as well.

Remove membrane from back of ribs. Slide a butter knife into the bone-side of the rack of ribs and make a small slit.&nbsp; Grab the membrane and pull it off.&nbsp; Use a paper towel to get a better grip on it.

Combine mustard, apple juice and Worcestershire sauce. Brush over ribs on both sides.&nbsp;&nbsp;Season ribs with dry rub on both sides.  Be generous.

Start smoker on the smoke setting for 5-10 minutes.  Increase heat to 225 F degrees.&nbsp;&nbsp;Smoke the ribs, meaty side up, for 3 hours.

Leave smoker on at 225 F degrees and place ribs on foil sheets.&nbsp;&nbsp;Sprinkle rack of ribs on both sides with half of brown sugar and honey, then top with 2 Tbsp of butter.  Pour in 3 Tbsp bourbon.  Repeat with remaining rack of ribs and remaining brown sugar, honey, butter and bourbon.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Add another foil sheet on top of the ribs and crimp to seal tightly.&nbsp;&nbsp;Return foil packs of ribs to grill and cook for 2 hours.

Carefully remove ribs from foil, and brush ribs with bbq sauce.&nbsp;&nbsp;Place ribs back on grill grate and grill for 1 hour.&nbsp;&nbsp;Slice and enjoy!

3-2-1 SMOKED PORK RIBS

These tender ribs are slow-cooked in the oven after being seasoned with a flavorful spice rub followed by a sweet and smoky barbecue sauce to finish them off.

Ribs

baby back ribs

brown sugar, (packed)

sugar

smoked paprika

mustard

cumin

cayenne pepper

nutmeg

barbecue sauce, (your favorite brand)

Preheat the oven to 300°F.

Add the sugars, onion powder, kosher salt, paprika, black pepper, ground mustard, cumin, cayenne pepper, and nutmeg to a small mixing bowl and whisk to combine.

You will need to carefully remove the opaque membrane that covers the underside of the ribs with a small knife. Lift the corner edge of the membrane and carefully slide the knife's edge underneath. Continue lifting the membrane up while cutting. Once you have this process started, you should be able to use your fingers to pull the membrane away.

Tear a long piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil, long enough to cover the rack of ribs. Lay it over a baking sheet.

Place the rack of ribs, meaty side down and bone side up, in the middle of the foil.

Generously spread ⅓ of the dry rub over the bones and rub into the bones. Flip the ribs over and spread the remaining dry rub over the top of the ribs and rub.

Crimp the seams of the foil together. Roll up the ends of the foil to seal.

Bake for 2 hours 30 minutes.

Remove the ribs from the oven. Increase the oven temperature to broil.

Add ½ cup barbecue sauce and the 3 tablespoons of brown sugar to a small mixing bowl. Whisk to combine.

Carefully open the foil. Spoon and spread the sauce over the top of the ribs.

Return the ribs to the oven to broil the sauced ribs for 2 to 3 minutes, just to caramelize the sauce. Remove the ribs from the oven and allow them to rest for 10 minutes before separating the individual ribs.
