Sausage strata is a tasty breakfast recipe to feed a crowd. Whip up all the ingredients in a casserole the night before and bake until golden brown the next day.

Sausage Strata: the effortless breakfast recipe for a tasty sausage cheese strata

Bread, 6 slices

cheddar cheese, grated, 3/4 cup

Whole Milk, 1 1/2 cups

Milk cream, 2/3 cup

Cut the slices into pieces of bread. Place it into a baking sheet. Cook the bread for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool completely.

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cut the sausage into pieces, add the sausage and cook for 5 minutes in a pan over medium-high heat. When they are soft but crispy. Remove from the fire.

With a blender by hand, add the milk, cream, eggs, mustard, salt and spices in a very large bowl until completely mixed. Grease a casserole dish with butter. Place the bread on the bottom.

Top with the sausages and the milk mixture. Let stand for at least 12 hours. When the bread has absorbed the liquid, sprinkle with the grated cheddar cheese.

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until inflated and firm in the center. Remove from the oven. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Breakfast Sausage and Mushroom Strata is a make-ahead breakfast casserole made with day old bread, eggs, cheese, sausage and mushrooms.

Breakfast Strata with Sausage and Mushrooms

oz wheat ciabatta bread

oz turkey breakfast sausage

milk

cheddar cheese

eggs

green onions

mushrooms

paprika

tsp kosher salt

tbsp Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 400F.

Arrange bread cubes on a baking sheet. Bake at 400° for 8 minutes or until toasted.

Heat a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage to pan; cook 7 minutes or until browned, stirring to crumble.

Combine milk, cheese, eggs, parmesan cheese, paprika, salt and pepper in a large bowl, stirring with a whisk.

Add bread, sausage, scallions and mushrooms, tossing well to coat bread. Spoon mixture into a 13x9-inch baking dish. Cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Uncover casserole.

Bake at 350° for 50 minutes or until set and lightly browned.

Cut into 8 pieces; serve immediately.
