I've made this recipe several times - both with turkey and beef. It's come out pretty well and has been popular. However, I have found it can come out a bit bland and really needs some additional flavor - more of the ones already included and I have tried others (brown sugar, chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, etc). Any ideas or additions anyone has found to work well?

Very little flavor after 7 hours in a slow cooker

this recipe came out delicious the only difference was I cooked it on high in the slow cooker and it only took about 3 1/2 hrs

and added more seasoning after about 1hr 1/2

This was a hit with my kids. They don't like chili but with fritos they ate it all!

Came out great! I did add an extra tbsp of cornstarch to the slurry, and next time I think I’ll play with adding some ginger. I added some extra broccoli just to make it stretch for some additional meals, and it still felt like a good balance of meat to veg. Definitely will be making again!

This recipe is perfect!  I've made substitutes:  chicken instead of steak, honey instead of brown sugar, extra sriracha, and every time has been great!  This is a staple in our household.

This is tasty but in 20 minutes the broccoli is still raw. Next time I will blanch it before adding it to the corckpot.

My family and I liked it. I made the recipe as written except that I used a full cup of soy sauce (by mistake) and sweet chili sauce instead of sriracha (because I didn't have any). I also made a slurry (mix equal parts cornstarch & cold water) instead of mixing the hot sauce with the cornstarch. (Cornstarch clumps up in hot liquids.) The sauce turned out too thin, but the flavor was great. Next time I will use the correct amount of soy sauce, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, and 3 tbsp cornstarch. 

Also, as others mentioned, the broccoli cooks quickly. For me it started getting mushy at around 20 minutes. I will try 15 minutes next time.

I love it but i  had to add juice of two Orange in ginger in also added Asparagus instead of broccoli in added white onion in green onions  it Brought out  more flavor in the dish.

It came out more like a stew than beef and broccoli. It was also too sweet.

Husband loved it! He doesn’t often compliment my average cooking but tonight he told me we should remember/ write this one down.

This was so good!! I loved the sweetness but others thought it too sweet so I will try without the sugar next time, couldn’t get the sauce to thicken though but still delicious.

Great recipe!!!  My family loved it, I tripled the recipe so we could have leftovers, everyone was skeptical at first because of the small of the sesame oil but it turned out great!!  I added a bit more cornstarch for thickness and I didn't use the sesame seeds for garnish. Loved it!!!

Awesome dish. I have made it with fresh steak and with left over steak that was cooked on the grill the night before. Perfect both ways. I usually serve it over rice but tonight I am going to serve it with Ramon noodles

This was excellent! I only used three tablespoons of white sugar because I was out of brown sugar. It was fine. Excellent flavor! A definite keeper.

Due to food allergies I used a couple substitutions and it turned out delicious:

1 used 1/2 cup red wine in place of Beef broth
1/2 cup honey in place of brown sugar 
2tbs of ArrowRoot flour instead of cornstarch
1/2 cup of BRAGGS Aminos instead of SoySauce

It was sooo yummy.  That little touch of brown sugar really hit nicely I used about 1/4 cup.  We loved all of it. I accidently cooked it on high for 3 hrs but it still was just awesome.

So yummy!  We didn’t have any sesame seeds and used regular soy sauce.  Flavor was really good. Will make again!

We loved it! Followed the recipe to the tee. Except some vegetable broth at the end to make It more of a paella broth for dipping bread. Overall Delicious!
Make sure you use the small grain rice, especially when using a crockpot!! Overall we loved it it. My 12 year actually had seconds... So a 10 I my book!

A waste of time. The rice never cooked, why. Other making this dish in a slow cooker if you have to cook it for 6+ hours. Easily could have made all these things separate in under 2 hours. Very disappointed and a waste of my time. Wish I read these comments before attempting. Do not make this.

I had to put my crockpot on high, not low as written in the instructions. Made sure i had short grain rice and had no problems with this recipe. It was quite delicious, especially it being the first time I made it.

Since I didn’t have short grain rice I had problems getting it to cook. After 3.5 frustrating hours on high I moved everything to a pot and simmered it for 30 min. It’s pretty tasty

do not follow the directions unless you want uncooked rice soup. It was nothing like what the video showed. It’s been 2 hours. I just bumped it to high. Maybe it will be ready to eat tomorrow. Frozen pizza it is. Find a different recipe if you want paella.

I LITERALLY made an account just to complain about this recipe. I followed this recipe to a T. The rice never cooked AT ALL and even after an extra 1 hour on HIGH it came out uncooked and BLAND. It was like if I dumped weak tea into some shrimp and chicken. I never make bad reviews usually but this was HORRIBLE. I actually ended up attempting to mix spaghetti sauce into it to at least have a topper for spaghetti and that failed too. Now I wasted a ton of time and food.

Too much onion, not enough flavour. The cook time was somewhere between 2:45hrs and 3:15hrs but ended up partly mushy and partly crunchy. I ended up having to pick out the chicken, chorizo and prawns and try to make something else from them.

Ignore 2 hours, it takes 4 half on low. Also you need more stock than that. Wayyyy more stock. I used a bottle of wine pretty much as I run out of stock. 

I cooked the chicken and chorizo in butter with a dap of olive oil. Then chucked in the onion and garlic. Once onions soaked up the butter. chucked in tinned tomato’s and tomato puree. Then bashed it all in the slow cooker with the rest of the ingredients. Kept it alive with wine as didn’t have enough stock. It takes amazing.

It had good flavor but it took 3 hours on high for rice to cook. Won’t do it again

I should have read all of the reviews before attempting the recipe.  Took way too long to cook. After bumping the heat up to high, I still had rice that did not cook.  Recipe did not look anything like the picture.  Finally turned the pot off and it looked soggy.

Be sure to cook the rice (not dry rice). Def needs more than 1.5 -2 hours on low. Might add a splash extra broth. Go heavy on the spices and garlic for solid flavor.

Very good just precook the shrimp and the rice it will be ok

I like many of your recipes and this one is tasty also. However, it is no where close to paella. The characteristic crunchy rice, or socarrat, in paella doesn't happen in a slow cooker. Leave out the peas and this is much more aptly named as jambalaya.

Who wrote this recipe? Did no one test it before publishing it? It is completely off in time and temp! It was no where near cooked after two hours. Probably should be set to high for at least two hours. What a waste of time and ingredients!

Okay so I made the recipe and read the comments and I wish I did it in reverse. Actually one of the worst recipes and I think it’s the strong vinegar with balsamic and mustard...I would next time offset it. Or just not add the vinegar at all

I thought this was delicious and will definitely make again! It does have a strong taste to it, but if you like balsamic, then you will enjoy it.

I read the reviews and this is how I addressed concerns over the Intense vinegar flavor: 

I doubled the marinade/sauce but left the balsamic vinegar to the original amount. I added onions and bell peppers. i also cooked it on low and didn’t add the Brussel sprouts until the last 3 hours and it was perfect. 

This dish is really amazing and I may tinker a little more with the flavor as it is amazing.

I loved this recipe!  It was easy to make delicious.  Great flavor. I pre-seasoned my chicken with a little Johnny's. The red pepper flakes were a nice surprise giving the finish a kick, but would suggest for those with heat sensitivities to reduce or skip the flakes.  The only deviation from the recipe I made was adding carrots.  I had some spare baby carrots and I tossed those in during the last hour of cooking.  The chicken was tender so I had to be careful in dishing it out, LOL!

I loved this! I swapped out the brussel sprouts and replaced with mushrooms. I also drizzled some honey over the top. I cooked it for 7 hours on low and it was perfect. A drizzle of horseradish sauce before serving made it perfect. So delicious and super easy to throw together!

I never leave reviews on recipes because I'm usually, at the very least, satisfied with the results. I can't recommend this recipe. It's the not the worst thing I've ever eaten, but the vegetables came out WAY too sweet. The chicken was better since it wasn't in the marinade, but the trade off was that it was too dry and slightly overcooked.

I enjoy the strong flavors of pickles and vinegar, but this is not something you're going to like unless you alter the ingredients and method drastically -- to the point that it's another recipe entirely.

The chicken was bone dry. The flavors on the sprouts & potatoes were good, but the chicken was inedible. I’d do half the time on high, or five hours on low.

This was great, everyone loved it. I did double it, and increase the chicken broth from 2/3 to 1 cup

Actually a great recipe.   My daughter who puts balsamic vinegar on everything loved it.  Probably would leave out the red pepper flakes the next time--to spicy for some at the table, but overall a dandy of a recipe especially if you like brussels sprouts like our family.

I was super thrilled when I found this because I had all of the ingredients already and I absolutely LOVE balsamic, it's basically an addiction. However, this chicken/flavor was no good. Edible, yes. Tasty, FAR FROM IT! It smelled SO GOOD while it was cooking, I couldn't WAIT to dig in. I honestly think it was the brown sugar. That's a LOT of brown sugar and it made the whole dish sweet. That's my least favorite thing about it. I wanted to taste more balsamic and all I taste is sweetness. Anyway, that's just my two cents.

I've made this twice now and it's not bad but.. There is an error in the recipe. I believe they mean cook on LOW for 4.5 -5 hrs. OR on high for 3.5 hours.. because mine is definitely ready by 3 1/2 on high. - Next time I would add carrots, a little honey at the end and a dash of horseradish on the plate along with a slice of sourdough bread and butter. Chicken is good and healthier for you but sausage could work well too. It's not an amazing recipe kind of just above run of the mill but satisfying and incredibly easy to make.

This recipe was perfect.  I made some adjustments.  I used sweet potato instead of baby reds & Brussel sprouts & doubled the broth- vegetable broth & it came out perfect 🙌🍽

If I had know the chicken would be that dry, I would have put them on the bottom. I also throught the brussel sprouts were too mushy. I loved the flavor combinations, but I'd rather bake this than slow cook it any day.

I wish I’d read the reviews before I made this recipe.  I did NOT like it.  Way too vinegary and I love pickled vegetables.  It was pretty unsalvageable.  A waste of good ingredients.

I loved this recipe. All of my favorite things. My husband, who is somewhat picky and hates Brussels sprouts, loved it too. I did double the marinade. Yummy!

We really like this recipe. I doubled the marinade recipe and marinated the chicken for about 45 minutes while I got everything else ready. It was a little dry last time I made this. I may try it with bratwurst instead of chicken.

I can see why a lot of people don't like it. If you don't like sour pickles, vinegar potato chips, Brussels sprouts, or sauerkraut, you won't like this. It has a strong flavor that is probably an acquired taste. It goes well with a good German Pilsner or Bock.

i loved it- i did oregeno thyme and parsley because I did not have rosemary and I drizzled honey on top. I knew that high would over cook the chicken, so I cooked it on low for 5 hours. It has a slight kick and sweetness all at the same time!

Simplify pot pie by using your crockpot! Make this chicken pot pie slow cooker recipe with minimal effort. Great dinner for a busy weeknight!

Chicken Pot Pie Slow Cooker Recipe

chicken breasts (boneless, skinless)

onion

carrots (chopped)

celery (sliced)

Italian parsley (chopped)

salt

tsp pepper

chicken stock

21 oz cream of chicken soup

peas (frozen)

corn (frozen)

16.3 oz refrigerated biscuits (8 count)

Place chicken breasts in a large slow cooker. Add onion, carrots, celery, parsley, paprika, oregano, salt and pepper. Pour chicken stock and chicken soup over top. Stir mixture on top of chicken, cover crock pot and set to cook for 8 hours on low or 4 hours on high heat.

Thirty minutes before cook time is up, remove chicken breasts from slow cooker and place on a cutting board. Shred the meat using two forks and return shredded meat to crock pot. Add peas and corn, mix well, and let cook for the remaining 30 minutes.

Bake biscuits in oven according to package directions and serve one on top of each serving!

-14 ounces can diced tomatoes, drained

sweet corn, drained

cream of chicken soup

- 1 ounces packet taco seasoning

Grease the slow cooker with nonstick spray, add all of the ingredients into the slow cooker stir well. Cook on LOW for 3-5 hours or HIGH for 2 hours.

Avocado oil is an edible oil pressed from the fruit of the Persea americana (avocado). As a food oil, it is used as an ingredient in other dishes, and as a cooking oil. It is also used for lubrication and in cosmetics, where it is valued for its supposed regenerative and moisturizing properties.

The avocado (Persea americana) is a tree that is native to South Central Mexico, classified as a member of the flowering plant family Lauraceae. Avocado (also alligator pear) also refers to the tree's fruit, which is botanically a large berry containing a single seed.

Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, cumin, and salt and cook, stirring, until the onion has softened and browned, about 5 minutes.

Transfer to the slow cooker and add the enchilada sauce, sour cream, and 1/4 cup water to the onion mixture and stir to combine. Fold in the beans until thoroughly coated.

Nestle the chicken in.

Cover and cook on high for about 3 to 4 hours or on low for about 6 to 7, until chicken is tender and cooked through. Shred the chicken in the pot with 2 forks.

Add the tortilla strips and stir, then top with the cheese, cover the slow cooker, and cook 30 minutes or until the cheese has melted.

Once the cheese is melted, garnish with cilantro, jalapenos, and optional toppings.

Serve over rice if desired and top with optional sour cream, and avocado.

Slow Cooker Chicken Enchiladas (Casserole Style)

No-Boil Slow Cooker Lasagna

(24 oz each) jars marinara sauce

no-boil lasagna noodles

ricotta cheese

mozzarella cheese, grated

cheese,

Italian seasoning

fresh basil, chopped

salt and black pepper,

Spread about 1 1/2 cups of the pasta sauce in the bottom of your slow cooker.

Top with a layer of lasagna noodles, breaking them apart to fit as needed.

In a medium bowl, stir together the ricotta, parmesan, egg, and 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese. Add Italian seasoning, basil, and season with salt and pepper. Stir to combine.

Spoon 1/3 of the cheese mixture over the noodles and spread out if needed. Top with another layer of noodles and sauce.
