Make this delicious smothered turkey recipe with legs, wings, or thighs. Smothered with a flavorful, perfectly seasoned homemade gravy, this turkey recipe is best served with a classic southern cornbread or collard greens.

Smothered Turkey Wings, Legs, Or Thighs

lbs turkey wings (legs

vegetable oil

tbsp butter

onion powder

sage

dry thyme

tsp salt

all purpose flour

chicken broth

half & half

onion

small bell pepper (chopped)

celery (chopped)

salt & pepper

Smothered Turkey Wings, Legs, or Thighs

Preheat the oven to 325 F.

Rinse the turkey under cool water, then pat dry.

Combine all of the seasonings: Salt, pepper, thyme,sage,onion powder, and garlic powder.

Season the turkey with the seasonings, and rub all over.

Sprinkle the all purpose flour into a large freezer bag, then place the turkey into the bag.

Close the bag, and shake until all of the turkey is nicely coated with the flour( don't toss out the excess flour).

Place a large pan on the stovetop and add in 3 tbsp of vegetable oil, and 2 tbsp of butter.

Melt the butter, and heat up the oil over medium heat.

Once the oil &amp; butter is nice and hot, add in the turkey.

Brown all surfaces of the turkey, then remove from the pan, and put the turkey into a large bake dish.

Head back to the stovetop and toss in all of the chopped vegetables.

Season the vegetables with salt and pepper to your preference, and cook the veggies, over medium heat, until they are translucent.

Once done turn off the heat, and add the veggies into the bake dish with the turkey, but reserve the oil/butter mixture.

Cover the bake dish with foil, and bake the turkey for 2 hours ( on 325 F).

Heat up the butter/oil mixture over medium heat.

Once the butter/oil is nice and hot sprinkle in the flour ( leftover from earlier).

Stir continuously, and brown.

Pour in the chicken broth, and stir to prevent and lumps.

Next add in the half &amp; half, and stir until everything is well combined.

Let the gravy cook over medium heat until it starts to thicken up.

Remove the turkey from the oven, and uncover.

Pour the gravy all over the turkey, making sure that it is nicely smothered, then cover.

bake for an additional 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Remove the turkey form the oven, and let sit for 10 minutes.

Serve and enjoy!

These instant pot smothered turkey wings are packed with flavor and super easy to make. Seasoned to perfection with a homemade spice blend and served with the most creamy sauce ever!

Instant Pot Smothered Turkey Wings

lbs turkey wings

onion (finely diced)

garlic (finely minced)

tsp chipotle chili powder (or regular chili powder

unsalted butter

tbsp all-purpose flour

heavy cream

In a small bowl, combine the salt, granulated garlic, onion powder, paprika, cumin, and chipotle chili powder. Mix well.

Season the turkey wings on both sides with the spice mixture.

Press the &quot;saute&quot; function on the instant pot and add about 2 tbsp of oil to the instant pot.

Cook the turkey wings, side down for 4-5 minutes. Work in batches if you have to.

Remove the turkey wings from the instant pot and set aside. Add more oil to the instant pot if needed.

Add the onions and cook for 1-2 minutes. Scrape the bottom of the pot with a wooden spoon. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 20 seconds.

Add the turkey wings back into the instant pot along with 1 cup of water and butter.

Press the &quot;cancel&quot; function. Place the lid on, seal the salve, and cook for 25 minutes. It will take some time for the instant pot to come to pressure.

Once the 25 minutes are up, do a quick release. Release all of the steam from the instant pot. Open the lid and remove the turkey wings from the instant pot.

In a small bowl, mix 3 tbsp water and 2 tbsp all-purpose flour. Whisk well.

Press the &quot;saute&quot; function and add the flour mixture to the instant pot. Let the gravy cook for 7-8 minutes while whisking frequently. Once the gravy is nice and thick, stir in the heavy cream. Check for seasoning.

Serve the turkey wings with the sauce and enjoy!

Onion (Fresh and chopped)

parsley

Cups Water

Tbsp. Cornstarch

Tomato paste

Tbsp. Rice Vinegar

Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

Heat the oil and cook the meat

Clean and wash the meat thoroughly. Heat the oil in a large skillet and brown the meat on all sides.

Remove the meat

Remove the meat from the skillet. Transfer to a paper toweled plated. In the same skillet, add tomato paste, the onions and garlic. Cook until fragrant. Stir consistently to breakdown the paste.

Add the meat

Return the meat to the skillet. Coat well. Stirring until well combined. Add the cornstarch. Stir well. Add the salt and pepper to taste and cajun spice.

Add water and liquid

Add the water, Worcestershire sauce, rice vinegar, stir well.

Add the herbs

Add the herbs. Cover and bring to simmer on medium low heat for 45 minutes or until tender.

Remove from heat

Uncover and the sauce should have thicken. Remove from heat. Serve over rice and enjoy.

Haitian Stewed Turkey Wings Recipe Ingredients:
3 Lbs. Turkey wings
1 Small Onion Fresh and chopped
¼ Cup Chopped fresh parsley
3 Cups Water
2 Tbsp. Cornstarch
Salt and pepper to taste
4 Tbsp. Vegetable oil
2 Thyme sprigs
1 Rosemary sprig
¼ Cup Chopped basil
1 Tbsp. Cajun Spice
4 Garlic cloves minced
1 Tbsp. Tomato paste
1 Tbsp. Rice Vinegar
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

Smothered Turkey Wings Recipe | Haitian Stewed Turkey Wings

Tasty and juicy smothered turkey wings are finger-licken good! A thick, creamy, and generously seasoned gravy brings this dish together.

Smothered Turkey Wings

Vegetable oil

Salted butter

Yellow onion (finely chopped)

Celery (finely chopped)

Garlic (finely chopped)

Chicken bouillon powder

All-purpose flour

Preheat the oven to 350 F

In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup seasoning salt, 1/2 cup pepper, the granulated onion, granulated garlic, sage, and thyme and stir to mix well.

Dry off the turkey wing pieces with a paper or kitchen towel. Season liberally on all sides with the seasoning mix.

Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil and butter. When the butter has melted and the fat is hot, working in batches, add the wing pieces in a single layer, being careful not to crowd that pan. They should sizzle the moment they hit the pan. Let them cook, keeping an eye on the heat and adjusting it if needed to make sure they don&#39;t burn, until they are golden brown on the underside, about 4 minutes.Once browned, flip them and cook the second side until golden brown, about 3 minutes more. As the wing pieces are browned, transger to a large roasting pan, arranging them in a single layer and leaving the fa in the pan. Brown the remaining wing pieces the same way. If they don&#39;t all fit in a single layer in the roasting pan, you can stack them a bit; just make sure the biggest pieces are on the bottom.

Turn the heat to medium-low. Add the chopped onion, celery, and chopped garlic to the fat remaining in the pan and cook, stirring occasionally, just until translucent, about 3 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, lift the vegetables out of the pan and sprinkle them over the turkey wings. Set the skillet aside.

Pour 2 cups of the water evenly over the turkey wings. Cover the pan with a lid or aluminum foil, then transfer to the oven and cook until the wings are nearly tender, anout 2 1/2 hours.

While the wings are cooking, return the skillet to medium-low heat, add the bouillon powder to the fat remaining in the pan, and whisk to combine. Add the flour and whisk constantly just until toasted, 1 to 2 minutes. Add the remaining 6 cups water, a little at a time, while whisking constantly to prevent lumps and build your gravy.

Add the cream of chicken soup to the skillet, turn the heat to low, and then whisk constantly until the mixture has thickened to a medium gravy consistency, about 8 minutes. Taste this gravy and adjust with seasoning salt and pepper if needed. Set aside until the wings are ready.

When the wings are tender, remove the pan from the oven and, using a slotted utensil, transger the wings to a large plate. Add just enough of the gravy to the broth in the pan to be able to partially submerge the wings and stir to mix. Then return the wings to the pan, flipping them so the side that was up on the first cook is now faving down in the gravy. Re-cover the roasting pan, return it to the oven, and cook the wings until completely tender, 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours, depending on their size.

Spoon the turkey wings and gracy over rice and serve immediately, with any remaining gravy on the side.
