Decadent Chocolate Snickerdoodle Cookies, AKA your new favorite Christmas cookie recipe!

Chocolate Snickerdoodles Recipe

all-purpose flour ((or GF baking mix))

dark cocoa powder, (unsweetened)

cream of tartar

baking soda

salt

granulated sugar, (divided)

unsalted butter, (softened (2 sticks))

eggs

cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line several baking sheets with parchment paper. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream the butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar together on high speed, until light and fluffy. (about 3–5 minutes) Then beat in the eggs and scrape the bowl with a spatula. Turn mixer on low and slowly add the flour mixture into the butter mixture, until just combined. Do not overmix the dough.

Mix the remaining 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl. Use a 1 1/2-tablespoon cookie scoop to measure out dough balls. Roll each ball in your hands to even them out, then roll in cinnamon sugar to thoroughly coat.

Place the balls on prepared baking sheets, 2 1/2 inches apart. Bake for 8–9 minutes, until just barely golden around the edges. Cool for several minutes on the baking sheets before moving.

The best snickerdoodle cookie recipe! These snickerdoodles have crispy edges, chewy centers, and a rich cinnamon flavor. They&#39;re easy to make with no chilling or strange ingredients! A classic Christmas cookie recipe passed down from my grandma that I have been baking since I was a little girl!

Best Snickerdoodles Recipe

shortening

butter

sugar

½ tsp pure vanilla extract

all-purpose flour (sifted)

tsp cream of tartar

½ tsp baking soda

sea salt

TBS sugar

½ tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

In a small bowl, mix together 2 TBS sugar and 1 ½ tsp cinnamon. Set aside.

Make the cinnamon sugar coating:

Sift flour into a medium bowl.

Add cinnamon, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt and stir to combine. Set aside.

Cream together butter, shortening and sugar in the bowl of a standing mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (or with a hand mixer).

Add egg and vanilla and beat again until smooth.

Add dry ingredients and stir until combined.

Use a 2 TBS cookie scoop to measure dough, then roll it into balls.

Roll each dough ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture until it’s evenly coated.

Place cookies on a baking sheet, either ungreased or lined with parchment paper.

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes until puffed and mostly set, but still soft.

Remove from oven and transfer to a wire cooling rack to cool!

No Butter Snickerdoodle Cookies

An easy, family-friendly, soft, chewy snickerdoodle cookie with slightly crispy edges that are rolled in a cinnamon sugar mixture and baked until lightly browned.

all-purpose flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Set the mixture aside.

In a bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment or a hand mixer, blend the butter and sugars until light and creamy.  Turn the mixer to low and stir in the eggs one at a time, mixing just until incorporated.  Stir in the vanilla extract mixing until blended.

Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture in several intervals stirring just until incorporated.

In a small bowl, mix 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar with the cinnamon. Use a cookie scoop and your hands to shape the cookie dough into 1 1/2-inch balls. Roll the cookie dough balls in cinnamon sugar.  Place on the prepared baking sheet about 2 1/2 inches apart.

Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before moving them to wire racks to finish cooling.

Best snickerdoodle recipe I’ve tried !
I did make a small tweet however-
I didn’t read that these were “ soft and chewy” &amp; my 1st batch came out very soft . This was a total disappointment to me since I found the recipe by googling “ crisp snickerdoodles “ 😂. So I had to bake them for 12 minutes just to get a slightly crisp texture .
I decided to amp the temp u to 375 and bake the next batch  for 9 minutes instead. 
Perfection! 
My only other suggestion would be to add maybe a little more con sugar on top because these weren’t QUITE as sweet as I like but nearly there ( I prefer Aton of sugar and cinnamon on top but was limited on cinnamon so had to make due.
I’d give this recipe a 9.5 out of 10 but definitely would say these taste nearly exact to Betty Crocker bagged cookie mix &amp; commercial grade cookies.

Absolutely scrumptious!  This is our favorite snickerdoodle.  And unlike most people we don't eat them only at the holidays.  They're deliciously simple so we love them as a treat all year round.
