Nothing could be prettier or more festive than this delicious Sparkling Christmas Slush Drink! It is a super impressive drink to serve for dinner parties, holiday parties, bridal showers, or anything else you can dream up!

Sparkling Christmas Slush Drink

water

sugar

100% cranberry juice*

lemonade

orange juice

lemon (optional)

colored sugar (optional)

liters Cherry 7Up (Three 2 liter bottles)

cranberries (to garnish)

orange (to garnish)

In a large pot, combine 4 cups water with the sugar. Heat over high heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring until the sugar has dissolved completely.

Remove from heat and add the cranberry juice, frozen lemonade (don't make it into juice, just add it frozen), and the orange juice.

Stir until the lemonade is dissolved.

Pour the juice into two 9x13 inch casserole dishes or cake pans. Or any wide shallow dish will do.

Cover and freeze until solid, at least 3 hours or up to 1 week.

Meanwhile, sugar the rims of the glasses. Pour colored sugar into a small bowl or a plate. (Any color would be fun, but I love to do red sugar. Plain white sugar would be pretty, or yellow. Green would be festive for Christmas!)

Rub the rim of the glasses with the lemon slice. Dip the glass into the sugar, then set aside to let dry. It's great if you can do this an hour or so before serving, but it's not necessary. You can even do it the night before your party to save time.

When ready to serve, use a fork to break up chunks of the slush and add to each glass.

Pour Cherry 7Up in each glass.

Garnish with fresh cranberries and an orange slice, if desired.

These festive vanilla cookies make a beautiful edible Christmas tree decoration. Or, you could pack them into boxes to give as end-of-term gifts for teachers and friends.

tsp vanilla extract

butter,

plain flour, sieved

edible food colouring, optional

edible gold and silver balls

approx 2m thin ribbon cut into 10cm lengths

Tip the icing sugar, vanilla extract, egg yolk and butter into a mixing bowl, then stir together with a wooden spoon (or pulse in a food processor until well combined). Add the flour and mix to a firm dough. Shape the dough into two flat discs and wrap them. Chill for 20-30 mins. Heat oven to 190C/fan 170C/gas 5 and line two baking sheets with non-stick baking paper.

Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about the thickness of two £1 coins. Cut out Christmassy shapes (use a cutter if you like) and place on the baking sheets. Using the tip of a skewer, cut a small hole in the top of each cookie. Bake for 10-12 mins until lightly golden.

Lift the biscuits onto a wire rack to cool. Meanwhile, mix the icing sugar with a few drops of cold water to make a thick, but still runny icing. Colour with edible food colouring, if you like. Spread it over the cooled biscuits, decorate with edible balls and thread with ribbon when dry.

Discard the green tops of the strawberries and slice the peaches.

Bring to a rolling boil and reduce to medium heat. Boil for approximately 15 minutes, or until the strawberries become pale and the peaches are soft.

Strain the syrup and refrigerate for 2 hours, or until cooled. Discard boiled fruit.

In a pitcher, combine the cooled syrup, sliced extra fruit, white wine, and rum.

Scoop fruit into glasses with ice, pour sangria, and top with champagne or sparkling wine.
