Very easy to make and super flavorful, these potato wedges are baked and sprinkled with a spicy rub!

Spicy Baked Potato Wedges

medium coarse salt

garlic

smoked paprika

chili powder

turmeric

black pepper

mustard powder

fennel seeds

celery seeds

onion powder

olive oil

butter, melted

potatoes,

Mix all ingredients for the spice mix in a jar.

Put aluminum foil in an oven tray (it makes it easier to clean up afterwards).

Cut washed and dried potatoes in half, and then each half in thirds or fourths, depending on how big you want the wedges. Put them in a bowl.

Add melted butter and oil to the potatoes and mix a bit to coat the wedges. Or do this directly in the aluminum paper, careful not to tear it.

Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until they are tender inside and golden outside.

Add a few tablespoons of the spice mixture and return to the oven for 5 more minutes, until they are crunchy and golden.

Serve immediately with more spice salt if you want to.

I love potatoes cooked any way but I really like them crispy just like these spicy baked potato wedges.  They look perfectly cooked and seasoned.

I am going to be whipping up these snack potatoes real often - that spice combo is fantastic, they cook up perfectly, and they're so easy! Such a great recipe.

Spicy Potatoes

2lb / 1kg medium sized Potatoes (see notes)

2.5 tbsp Olive Oil

tsp Cayenne Pepper (see notes)

tsp Smoked Paprika

tsp Garlic Powder

tsp Onion Powder

Salt,

tsp Black Pepper

Greek Yogurt

Sour Cream

Chives

Parsley

Lemon, juice only

tsp EACH: Onion Powder, Garlic Powder

Salt & Black Pepper,

I HIGHLY recommend making this in advance to give chance for the flavours to develop.

In a small mixing bowl combine 1/2cup/120g Greek yogurt and sour cream with 1/4cup chives and parsley, the juice of 1 lemon, 1/8 tsp onion &amp; garlic powder and salt &amp; pepper to taste.

Taste test for seasoning and adjust accordingly. Cover in the fridge until needed.

Lemon Herb Dip

Pre heat the oven to 200C/390F with the baking tray in there so it get nice and hot.

Meanwhile, slice your potatoes into disks (around 1cm/just under 1/2 inch). Place in a large mixing bowl.

Add in 2.5 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, 3/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Combine with your hands (messy, but ensures the potatoes get the best coverage).

Carefully space out the disks on the hot tray (try not to overlap, this will cause them to steam. They need direct contact with the pan) and place in the oven 30-40mins, or until golden and crunchy. I recommend taking out half way and flipping each potato. If they start charring at all before 20mins turn down the heat. Timings will depend on type and thickness of potatoes - just be vigilant.

Serve with an extra sprinkle of salt (this will draw out any final moisture) and serve as a side or with a dip!

Batata Harra is a Lebanese spicy potato and cilantro dish! Very popular in the Middle East, you can easily make it at home with ingredients that you already have in your kitchen.

Batata Harra

(900 grams) potatoes (about 5 potatoes

salt

garlic (crushed

red chili flakes

paprika

cilantro leaves

lemon (juiced)

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Place the potatoes on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper, and toss well.

Roast in the oven for 40 minutes flipping halfway through or until the potatoes are crispy on the outside, and fork-tender.

Roasting Method:

Pat dry the potatoes before frying them. In a large pot or pan, heat oil to 350°F (180°C).

Add the potatoes to the oil, and fry for about 15 minutes or until they&#039;re golden brown.

Remove from oil, and drain on a paper towel.

Frying Method:

To a pan, add olive oil, garlic, and chili flakes and cook for a minute over low-medium heat or until the garlic is fragrant. Add the paprika and fresh cilantro, followed by the cooked potatoes.

Toss until the potatoes are well coated, remove from pan and serve in a serving dish.

Garnish with extra fresh cilantro, and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the potatoes before serving. Serve hot.

Lebanese Spicy Potatoes Batata Harra

These smoky, spiced potatoes are a great accompaniment for white fish or chicken

Spanish potatoes

tbsp oil

tomato purée

tsp smoked paprika

potato

lemon

flat-leaf parsley leaves, roughly chopped

Heat oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Mix the oil, tomato purée and paprika together, then coat the potatoes thoroughly in it. Squash the garlic in its skin with the flat of a knife and place on a baking tray with the potatoes.

Season well with salt and pepper, then roast for 40 mins, turning halfway through, until the potatoes have crisped up and are fluffy inside. Five mins before the end of cooking, sprinkle over the lemon juice and return to the oven. Serve with the parsley scattered over.

Sichuan Shredded Potatoes are a great way to eat potatoes and are ready in 15 minutes. Just don't burn your tongue!

Sichuan Shredded Potatoes

sized Russet Potatoes

t salt

T canola, grapeseed or peanut oil

T white vinegar

t sugar

t chili paste

t chili flakes (at your discretion)

t chili oil

scallions

Peel potatoes and slice lengthwise into 1/8&#8242; ovals, (approximately). Now stack the ovals and slice into thin, narrow strips. Place potatoes into a bowl and cover with water and salt for 5 minutes. Drain and pat dry on paper towels.

Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add potatoes and stir until potatoes are covered with oil. Put in remaining ingredients, plus 1 T water, then cook for 5 minutes, stirring continuously to prevent the potatoes from sticking to the pan and becoming overcooked. These potatoes do not get gold and crispy. Their crunchiness is derived from the potatoes not becoming too soft. Kind of like an al dente noodle.

Add most of the minced scallions and stir for a few seconds. Garnish with the rest of the scallions.

One of our favorite dishes. As you know the boys love that tongue numbing heat so they are always on board with delicious recipes like this. Just pinned!

Cooked with warming fresh aromatics and spices, this oniony potato curry hails from the Shiraz region in the South of Iran. Well-loved among Iranians, this flavorful side dish is a great accompaniment to a range of mains, from chicken to shrimp to whole roast cauliflower.

Dopiazeh Aloo (Persian Potato Curry)

Yukon gold potatoes,

Kosher salt

extra virgin olive oil

yellow onions, (thinly sliced)

green bell pepper, (thinly sliced)

garlic cloves, (crushed

(2-inch) piece ginger, (peeled and finely grated)

red chili, (deseeded and finely minced)

turmeric powder

cumin

coriander

tomatoes, (chopped)

tomato paste ((optional))

lime juice ((optional))

Black pepper

cilantro, (finely chopped)

Prepare and boil the potatoes. In a large saucepan, add the potatoes and cover with water. Salt the water generously and bring to a boil over high heat. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 10 minutes, or until the potatoes are just tender. Drain and set aside.

Cook the onions and green bell pepper. In the same pan used to boil the potatoes, add the olive oil and set the pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil begins to shimmer, add the onion and saute, stirring until they have softened and started to caramelize, about 8 minutes. Then add the bell pepper and cook, stirring until it has softened slightly, about 3 minutes.

Add the fresh aromatics. Add the garlic, ginger, and red chili. Stir until the aromatics are released, about 1 minute.

Add the spices. Add the turmeric, cumin and coriander. Stir to coat the onion and pepper mixture.

Add the tomatoes. Add the chopped fresh tomatoes and stir gently until they soften and break down, about 3 minutes.

Add the tomato paste and water. Add the tomato paste and stir into the mixture, then add 1 cup of water to create a light sauce.

Add potatoes, lime juice and seasoning. Stir in the drained potatoes and turn the heat to medium-low. Add the fresh lime juice (if using) and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir the mixture gently until evenly mixed. Cover and gently cook for approximately 15 minutes for the flavors to marry. Stir now and again and lower heat further, if necessary.

Garnish and serve. Turn the heat off. Gently stir in 3/4 of the cilantro. Spoon into a serving dish and sprinkle with the remaining cilantro if you’d like. Serve immediately.

Lebanese Spicy Potatoes (Batata Harra)

Preheat the oven to 450°F and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.

Place the potatoes on the baking sheet in one layer, drizzle 1 tablespoon olive oil on top and season with salt. Roast until the potatoes reach a golden brown color and crisp, about 30 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Meanwhile, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil in a small pan. Add the garlic, 1 teaspoon of the crushed red pepper and half the cilantro. Sauté until the garlic is golden in color, about 2 minutes; remove from heat and set aside.

Once the potatoes are roasted, transfer the garlic mixture on top of the potatoes and toss with the remaining cilantro and the red pepper flakes.

Serve hot or warm with a squeeze of lemon juice on top, if desired

It is a great recipe! My husband is from Syria, we live in Canada, but I got used to cooking Arabic food mainly as I love it so much myself (Ukrainian by origin). I loved it how my mother-in-law used to buy chili paste from Syrian shops in Dubai and cook it that way. It's so similar! I love how you add lemon to it, and I drink it with kefir! I don't need any meat if I have this! Thank you for another great addition to our meals.

I have made these and used them in wraps with shishtawook and garlic sauce and hummus. Also added red onion and red cabbage. These are delicious. I'm hoping to try to make homemade garlic sauce(toum) soon. These recipes are so easy to follow my success is almost guaranteed.

These potatoes are fantastic— lemon juice is a must.  I added the lemon juice after the spices.
