I love using spicy chicken sausage to give it a little kick, but if you want to make this mild for your family, simply swap it for sweet Italian.

Spicy Whole Wheat Linguini with Sausage and Roasted Peppers

oz chicken sausage

olive oil

onion

roasted peppers

garlic (smashed)

kosher salt and black pepper

tomatoes

chicken broth

oz DeLallo whole wheat linguini

tbsp grated Pecorino Romano (plus more for serving)

parsley

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the sausage until browned and cooked through, breaking it up as it cooks. Set aside.

Add the oil, onions, roasted peppers, garlic and kosher salt and black pepper to the skillet and cook until golden, 4 to 5 minutes.

Add the tomatoes and chicken broth and return the sausage to the skillet.

Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer on low 15 minutes.

Meanwhile cook the pasta in a large pot of salted water according to package directions.

Drain and toss with the sauce and Pecorino cheese, cooking and stirring about 2 minutes on low to marry the flavors.

Finish with chopped parsley and serve with more cheese on the side, if desired.

Spicy Sausage Pasta

lb smoked sausage

(10 oz) can Ro-Tel tomatoes and green chiles, Mild

heavy cream

oz penne pasta

salt and pepper, each

Monterey Jack cheese, shredded

Add olive oil to an oven-safe skillet over medium high heat until just smoking. Add sausage and onions and cook until lightly browned, about 4 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Add broth, tomatoes, cream, pasta, salt and pepper and stir. Bring to a boil, cover skillet, and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer until pasta is tender, about 15 minutes.

Remove skillet from heat and stir in 1/2 cup cheese. Top with remaining cheese and sprinkle with scallions. Broil until cheese is melted, spotty brown, and bubbly.

This is my second recipe review EVER and I am 56yrs. old. This was a VERY tasty quick, one pot meal that I made today. I followed this recipe exactly as written and it turned out mighty tasty for sure. My only problem with the whole thing was that it wasn't spicy enough for me. However, this  is SO versatile and excellent as a base recipe . After my first bowl I sprinkled some Tony Chachere's Original Creole seasoning on my second bowl and it was even better. Of course I will be making this again but I will add peas, broccoli or green peppers to it for a veggie flair as well as my Tony C . for an added kick. My friend suggested adding shrimp to the combo for a little Cajun twist which sounds great. Overall I gave this 4 stars because it truly is good as is and it is a great starting point for anything you might want to add in.

A quick and easy weeknight meal that everyone will love!! It’s made all in one pot and dinner will be on the table in less than 30 minutes!

This is a slimming-friendly, Spicy Sausage Pasta recipe that you can enjoy when calorie counting or following plans like Weight Watchers!

Spicy Sausage Pasta | Slimming &amp; Weight Watchers Friendly

300 g dried pasta

500 g passata

g green beans

low fat sausages

garlic (finely crushed)

oregano

basil (finely chopped)

tsp dried chilli flakes (to taste)

salt and pepper (to taste)

low calorie cooking spray

Cook

Cook the pasta according to the instructions on the packet. Meanwhile, cook the sausages in a frying pan sprayed with low calorie cooking spray over a medium heat for around 15 minutes, until cooked through and browned.

Cut the cooked sausages into 2cm pieces and place into a saucepan on a medium heat. Spray with a little low calorie cooking spray, then add the chilli flakes, garlic and cook for 1 minute. Pour in the passata and add the oregano and half of the fresh basil. Cut the green beans into 2 cm pieces and add to the pasta 2 minutes before the end of cooking.

Drain

Drain the pasta and beans and add to the saucepan with the tomato and sausages. Season to taste and mix well.

Serve

Serve immediately, top with the rest of the fresh basil and a little parmesan if you fancy!
