These Vegan stovetop baked beans are so easy to make and full of flavor!  They're the perfect side dish for all your summer needs.

Vegan Stove-Top Baked Beans

olive oil

onion

garlic,

(24 ounce) jar marinara sauce

maple syrup

apple cider vinegar

tamari

ketchup

chili powder

smoked paprika

mustard powder

cumin

salt

black pepper

white beans, drained and rinsed

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil and onions. Saute onions until softened, about 5 minutes. Next add the garlic and cook for another 2 minutes.

Add all the remaining baked bean ingredients, except for the beans, and stir until everything is combined. Cook sauce for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the beans to the sauce, stir, and cook for another 5-10 minutes, until beans are heated through.

Hi, just wondering if I could use canned crushed tomatoes instead of marinara? Less sodium and sugar. Does it need the Italian spices?

Easy Southern-Style Stovetop Baked Beans

tomato paste

BBQ sauce

mustard (ground)

beef broth (use vegetable broth

green bell pepper (diced)

garlic (minced)

cinnamon (ground)

Add the broth, onion, and bell pepper to a large skillet and sauté over medium-high heat, stirring often, until everything softens, after about 3-5 minutes.

Then, stir in the seasonings and sauces: brown sugar, tomato paste, BBQ sauce, ground mustard, smoked paprika, garlic, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper, and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until combined.

Pour the baked beans directly from the can into the skillet and stir to mix with the homemade baked beans sauce.

Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until thickened after about 15 to 20 minutes.

Remove the skillet of baked beans from the stovetop, serve, and enjoy!

Sometimes, dry navy beans, maple syrup, or molasses are hard to find to make baked beans from scratch. This recipe is convenient, and it uses fewer ingredients on the stovetop.
