Creamy Greek Tztaziki Sauce. A versitle Greek yogurt and cucumber sauce to serve along with veggies and pita, spread on sandwiches, or add it next to grilled fish, meat or poultry!

Tzatziki Sauce Recipe

English cucumber, partially peeled (striped) and sliced

tsp kosher salt, divided

garlic cloves, peeled, finely grated or minced (you can use less if you prefer)

tsp white vinegar

tbsp Early Harvest Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil

yogurt

tsp white pepper

pita bread

vegetables

Prep the cucumber. In a food processor, grate the cucumbers. Toss with 1/2 tsp kosher salt. Transfer to a fine mesh strainer over a deep bowl to drain. Spoon the grated cucumber into a cheese cloth or a double thickness napkin and squeeze dry. Set aside briefly.

In one large mixing bowl, place the garlic with remaining 1/2 tsp salt, white vinegar, and extra virgin olive oil. Mix to combine.

Add the grated cucumber to the large bowl with the garlic mixture. Stir in the yogurt and white pepper. Combine thoroughly. Cover tightly and refrigerate for a couple of hours.

When ready to serve, stir the tzatziki sauce to refresh and transfer to serving bowl, drizzle with more extra virgin olive oil, if you like. Add a side of warm pita bread and your favorite vegetables. (also see notes for more ideas) Enjoy!

The best Homemade Tzatziki Sauce Recipe! This easy tzatziki sauce is made with Greek yogurt, sour cream and fresh dill! It&#039;s thick and creamy (not watery) and so delicious! It perfectly compliments Mediterranean dishes, and makes a great party dip! 

Homemade Tzatziki Sauce Recipe

Greek yogurt

sour cream

cucumber

sea salt

½ TBS white balsamic vinegar

TBS lemon juice

olive oil

garlic powder

tsp dill ((minced fresh,

black pepper

Place a fine mesh strainer on top of a smaller bowl (to catch the water as it drains). Be sure that the strainer does not touch the bottom of the bowl and that there is at least 1-2 inches between them.

Put a coffee filter on top of the strainer.

Mix 1 cup Greek yogurt and ¼ cup sour cream together. Carefully scoop it onto the coffee filter/strainer and place it in the fridge overnight or for at least 4 hours.

To strain the yogurt/sour cream:

De-seed and grate your cucumber. Put it in a colander over a bowl and sprinkle with salt.

Let it sit on the counter for at least 2 hours, occasionally pushing out the excess water.

To strain the cucumber:

When you’re ready to make the sauce: squeeze out all excess water from cucumber by pushing it out while in the colander. Then get some thick paper towels, put cucumber in them and ring it out.

Put yogurt mixture in a clean, dry mixing bowl. Add all ingredients except cucumber. Once thoroughly mixed add cucumber and refrigerate for at least one hour to let flavors blend.

Serve with your favorite Mediterranean food like falafel or gyros!

This was incredible.  I made it along with the Easy Greek Chicken and Potato Dinner and Easy Traditional Greek Salad and served with pita bread.  Everyone LOVED this.  I didn't have a food processor and just chopped the cucumber very finely before draining.  I used Fage Total 5% Greek yogurt and found that the dip was perfect.  I think we all ended up putting it on the pita, the chicken, the potatoes, straight spoonfuls... great recipe!

Authentic Tzatziki Sauce Recipe | The Mediterranean Dish

My easy recipe for Tzatziki sauce made with Greek yogurt, cucumbers and garlic. I add this to souvlakis, gyros or grilled pita chips!

Skinny Tzatziki

oz fat-free Greek yogurt (use full fat for Keto)

garlic (crushed)

lemon juice

dill (chopped)

chives (chopped)

kosher salt and fresh pepper

Strain the yogurt using a metal strainer or a coffee filter for a few hours to remove as much liquid as possible. Set aside.

Scoop seeds out of the cucumber with a small spoon. Place cucumber in a mini food processor or grate with a box cheese grater. Drain the liquid from the  cucumber in a metal strainer and sprinkle with a little salt (this helps release the liquid). You may want to use the back of a spoon to help squeeze out any excess liquid.

Combine strained cucumber, garlic, yogurt, salt, pepper, lemon juice, dill, chives and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.

Makes about 2 cups. Store in refrigerator for about a week.

Easy 10 Minute Healthy Tzatziki Sauce

Place the diced cucumber in a strainer over a bowl and sprinkle it with some salt. Let it sit for a few minutes to extract any excess moisture, then pat it lightly with a clean paper towel.

Then add the greek yogurt, cucumber, and the rest of the ingredients to a medium-sized bowl and mix it all together until it is combined into a creamy sauce.

Top with more fresh dill, some ground black pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil.

If using thin-skinned cucumbers, there is no need to peel. Grate the cucumbers using a box grater, and place in a fine mesh strainer. Toss with the salt and place the strainer over a bowl and let sit 10-15 minutes to allow cucumbers to release their liquid, while you prep the remaining ingredients.

In a medium bowl, whisk the yogurt, garlic and fresh herbs.

Pressing down with your fingers, remove any more liquid from the cucumber that you can. You will end up with one cup of cucumber. Fold the strained cucumber into the yogurt mixture.

Taste, adding lemon juice  if you like) to taste. Yogurt can vary in tartness, to adding lemon to taste is important. Season with pepper and more salt if needed. If you want more richness, stir in a drizzle of olive oil. You can also drizzle olive oil over the top in a circular motion right before serving.

Garnish with fresh herbs and keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

Will never waste money buying Tzatziki at the store again. So easy to make and so much better. Easy to make variations.

Super. This is what I was looking for. The salting of the cucumber makes all the difference. Also: the cucumber releases the salt back, so didn’t have to add salt at all.  Thx for the trick! (Personally I didn’t add the dille and menth, but replaced it with green long onions (don’t know how they are called). Thx again.

Another win from Sylvia! I actually used silken tofu in place of the yoghurt (a trick I learned from this site!) and it was equally as delicious (: I blended the tofu to make it more of a yoghurt consistency and added quite a bit more lemon juice since tofu does not have the natural tanginess of yoghurt, but it was still great! Posting this for anyone who is vegan but isn't keen on vegan yoghurt! Thanks Sylvia for your wonderful recipes &lt;3 oh and last thing! I thought the cucumber grating would be a whole pain, but it was quick, painless, and really elevated this tzatziki. Score!

Grate the cucumber using the small holes on a box grater (if using a standard cucumber instead of English, peel and remove seeds first). Place the grated cucumber in a fine mesh strainer and squeeze out as much liquid as possible. Sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, then allow to stand for at least 10 minutes. Then use your hands to squeeze out as much water as possible from the cucumber before adding it to the dip.

In a medium bowl, mix the Greek yogurt, minced garlic, red wine vinegar, olive oil, remaining 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, fresh dill, and freshly ground black pepper. Stir in the grated cucumber.

Serve immediately, or refrigerate for up to 1 week.

Easy Tzatziki Sauce Recipe

cucumber (we love hothouse or seedless cucumbers)

plain Greek yogurt

garlic

mint and/or dill

Salt and fresh ground black pepper

Grate the cucumber and scatter it over a clean dishcloth (or cheesecloth). Sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon salt. Let sit for 5 minutes.

Gather up the corners of the dishcloth and squeeze as much liquid from the grated cucumber as possible. Discard the liquid or save it for another use.

In a medium bowl, combine the squeezed cucumber with yogurt, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, fresh herbs, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of pepper.
