vegetable stock

soy sauce, low sodium, or amino acids

vegan worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

2 teaspoons onion powder

1 teaspoon basil

1 teaspoon parsley

paprika

In a medium saucepan, bring all ingredients EXCEPT thickener (arrowroot powder, cornstarch, or flour) to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and allow to simmer for approximately 5 minutes.

Vegan Brown Gravy

all-purpose flour ((I used Pillsbury brand all-purpose gluten-free flour))

avocado oil

nutritional yeast flakes

onion powder

garlic powder

vegetable broth (or 3 vegan bouillon cubes + 3 cups of water)

Bragg's liquid aminos

Heat the avocado oil in a saucepan over medium heat.

Add the all-purpose flour and whisk constantly until the flour starts browning, about 3-5 minutes.

Add the nutritional yeast flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, Bragg's Liquid Aminos, and vegetable broth.

Whisk continuously to prevent clumps. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until thickened.

Serve immediately over mashed potatoes or something else that requires a delicious, rich, and flavorful gravy.

I recreated a vegan version of the KFC Bowl and needed a gravy recipe. Michelle to the rescue! This gravy was awesome over the garlic mashed potatoes! The family ate every drop.

Made this using coconut oil.  It was really good, have to watch carefully when adding the aminos because this is where it got a bit lumpy for me. Added the broth and kept whisking. It was delicious.  Left overs did thicken but will just add more broth to thin out when reheating.  Great flavor. Thanks Michelle for the recipe.
