Authentic Vietnamese Peanut Sauce Recipe

Tbsp Hoisin sauce, 30 grams

fresh 1-inch ginger root, 2.5cm

tsp of sesame seeds, 3 g

tsp sesame oil, 5 ml (optional)

tsp of sugar, 4 g (optional)

In Vietnamese, the peanut dipping sauce is called tuong dau phong or tương đậu phộng.

The amount of spiciness, as well as the consistency of the sauce, is highly variable. 

In Vietnam, peanut dipping sauce is eaten most often with Vietnamese spring rolls. These spring rolls are also called Summer rolls or gỏi cuốn.

These are incredibly delicious fresh spring rolls made with rice paper filled with fresh vegetables, shrimp and pork.

The peanut dipping sauce and fresh spring rolls is our favorite and one of the best ways to enjoy this Vietnamese peanut sauce recipe.

Vietnamese Peanut Sauce Recipe

An easy Vietnamese peanut sauce that&#039;s versatile and ready in under 5 minutes! Made with smooth, creamy peanut butter, coconut milk, and fresh lime juice. Perfect for dipping spring rolls!

Vietnamese Peanut Sauce

peanut butter

lite coconut milk

½ Tablespoon hoisin sauce

lime juice

brown sugar

peanuts

Tablespoon chili garlic sauce

Combine all the ingredients (except for the chopped peanuts) in a medium size bowl and mix it together until the peanut sauce is smooth and creamy. Depending on how thick your peanut butter is, you may need to add more coconut milk or water to get the desired consistency.

Garnish with chopped peanuts and chili garlic sauce if desired. Makes about ¾ cup of sauce.

Classic creamy Vietnamese peanut sauce for fresh spring rolls and summer rolls. This recipe makes about 2 cups.

Vietnamese Peanut Dipping Sauce for Spring Rolls (Tương Chấm Gỏi Cuốn)

neutral oil

water chicken stock

hoisin sauce

unsalted toasted peanuts (optional)

Sriracha chili sauce (optional)

Fry the garlic

In a small pot, heat oil on medium-high. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 20 seconds).

Make the sauce

Add water or low-sodium stock and peanut butter. Whisk until smooth. Mix in hoisin sauce. Simmer on low for about one minute or until the mixture begins to bubble. Remove from heat. If too thick, whisk in a little bit more water/stock. If too thin, let it simmer a little longer for some moisture to evaporate. Keep in mind that the sauce will thicken as it cools.

Serve

Transfer to individual sauce bowls, top with a sprinkle of toasted peanuts (optional) and a drizzle of Sriracha chili sauce (optional). Serve with spring/summer rolls.

I made this recipe with regular peanut butter and it tasted just like my favorite peanut sauces at thai and vietnamese restaurants!

Vietnamese Pork & Shrimp Spring Rolls with Peanut Sauce (Gỏi Cuốn Tôm Thịt)

An easy, no-cook Vietnamese peanut sauce recipe, perfect for dipping shrimp summer rolls. Ready in 5 minutes, Creamy, nutty, and sugar-free.

Vietnamese peanut sauce recipe

gluten-free hoisin sauce

peanut butter (unsalted and unsweetened)

tbsp white wine vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

½ tsp Sriracha (optional,

grated garlic (1 medium)

water (to thin)

Sprinkle chopped roasted peanuts

Combine

In a mixing cup, combine hoisin sauce, peanut butter, white wine vinegar, sriracha, and garlic.

Thin

Thin the sauce with water 1 tablespoon a time while stirring until your desired consistency.

Garnish

The sauce will thicken the longer it sits. Thin with more water as necessary.

Usage

Usage: Use it as a dipping sauce for Vietnamese fresh summer rolls, spring rolls, Chinese egg rolls, and more!

Storage

Storage: the sauce stores well in an airtight jar in the fridge. It should last 1 week with no double dipping.

We made this peanut sauce the other day to go with summer rolls and it was a hit with the family. I especially love that homemade hoisin sauce - not overly sweet and with a good consistency. This peanut sauce tastes just like what we love in the local restaurants, now we can make it at home easily!
