This warm spiced cider, also known as wassail, is the perfect beverage for a crisp fall evening.

Easy Wassail Recipe

Gallon Apple Juice or Apple Cider

Brown Sugar

orange juice

orange (sliced)

tsp whole cloves

whole allspice

cinnamon

nutmeg

Tie Spices into a large piece of cheesecloth. &nbsp;Alternately, you can pour liquid thru a fine mesh strainer after steeping.

Mix apple juice, orange juice concentrate and sugar in a large pot.

Add orange slices and spices, stir to combine.

Heat just to boiling, the reduce to low and steep 1 hour.

Refrigerate any leftovers.

Stove Top

Tie Spices into a large piece of cheesecloth.  Alternately, you can pour liquid thru a fine mesh strainer after steeping.

Mix apple juice, orange juice concentrate and sugar into a 6qt or larger electric pressure cooker.

Cook on high pressure for 10 minutes. &nbsp;Allow a 10 minute natural release before quick releasing the rest of the steam.

Serve immediately.

Instant Pot

Mix apple juice, orange juice concentrate and sugar into a 5qt or larger slow cooker.

Cook on high for 3-4 hours, or on low for 6-8 hours.

This easy wassail recipe is the perfect addition to a hay ride, trick or treating, or snuggling up with a movie.  Classic Wassail, also known as spiced cider, is made with simple ingredients to produce a fragrant, hot spiced apple drink.

A hot cup of homemade Wassail is one of my favorite holiday drinks. It's a delicious hot cider drink that combines the flavors of orange and apple with cinnamon and spices.

Hot Wassail

apples

apple cider

lemon juice

ginger

Poke the whole cloves into the apples on all sides.&nbsp;

Add all of the ingredients, including the apples, to a large pot over medium low heat.&nbsp;

Bring to a simmer. Simmer for 30-45 minutes.&nbsp;

Remove the apples and whole cloves. Ladle into mugs and enjoy!

An old-fashioned Mulled Cider recipe makes the perfect fall and winter beverage!

Mulled Cider ("Wassail")

Combine all of the ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low; simmer for 20 minutes. Ladle into mugs and serve warm. If you want to strain off bits of spices and fruit that are floating in the cider, you can pour the liquid through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth before serving.

Pressure Cooker Hot Mulled Cider a/k/a Wassail&nbsp;is a hot drink consisting of apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and topped with fresh orange slices.

Pressure Cooker Hot Mulled Cider a/k/a Wassail

Apples ((use as many as will fit))

Apple Cider (or 16 more apples)

Cinnamon Sticks

Green Cardamon Pods

Whole Allspice

Whole Cloves

Whole Nutmeg

inch Fresh Ginger Root ((or 1/4 tsp ground))

Oranges (divided)

Dark Brown Sugar

Core apples and place into pressure cooker cooking pot.

Lock on lid and close pressure valve. Cook at high pressure for 15 minutes.&nbsp; When beep sounds, wait 5 minutes and then release the pressure.

Place apples into cheesecloth and mash and strain juice back into cooking pot.&nbsp; Either do another round of apples, add 1 quart of apple cider.

Add juice of one orange, all spices and sugar.&nbsp; Lock on lid and close pressure valve. Cook at high pressure for 5 minutes.&nbsp; When beep sounds, wait 5 minutes and release the rest of the pressure.

Remove lid and add orange slices.&nbsp; Keep pot on "Keep Warm."

Winter Solstice Wassail

apple cider or apple juice

cranberry juice

all spice berries

cloves

orange peel

brandy (optional)

Put the apple cider and cranberry juice into the crockpot

In a spice bag place the all spice berries and 20 cloves and put in the pot.

Simmer on low for 4-5 hours.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

In the meantime place 4 apples with the remaining four cloves and 1/2 cup of water into a baking dish.

Cook about 35-45 minutes or until the apples are tender, remove from oven and set aside.

Once the apples are cool, dice them and put them in the wassail.

Remove the peel from the orange taking care to not get the white pith.

Put the peel in the wassail.

Let simmer together for about 30 minutes and serve warm. You can add Brandy at this time if you want to spike it.

Refrigerate any leftovers
