This smoky cheese and spinach frittatas will make a handy snack or quick lunch for the little ones.

Smoky cheese and spinach frittatas

100 g cheese (grated)

tsp smoked paprika

0.5 red pepper (diced)

<p>Making your own baby porridge or baby oatmeal is super easy and a much cheaper way to feed a weaning baby than the packaged variety.</p>

Make Your Own Baby Porridge

Rolled Oats

Milk - breast milk, formula or cows milk

Place the oats in a food processor and blitz until they become fine, almost a flour consistency. Store in an airtight glass jar or plastic container.

To make the porridge or oatmeal use 1 part oats to 2 parts milk and heat gently in a saucepan for 3-4 minutes, stirring regularly.

To make flavoured porridge add grated apple, mashed banana, desiccated coconut, etc to the oats while cooking.

What a great idea!  Do you know what the iron content is, though?  I know iron is a big reason babies are introduced to cereal now anyway.

So glad I found this as the supermarket bought ones can be so expensive and I always wonder what added extras are in there that my l.o. doesn't really need in there! It's super easy to make as well which is great when you spend most of your time changing nappies!

This healthy omelette of kale, squash and ricotta is a perfect dish for your baby (and you).

Make a batch of these chickpea fritters for your little ones. Full of healthy goodness, they're also freezable so are ideal for making ahead

Chickpea fritters

red pepper

shallots diced

carrots grated (smallest function)

garlic

ginger

can of chickpeas drained

1tsp garam masala

1tsp cumin

coriander

flour (or any gluten-free alternative)

fresh coriander chopped

vegetable oil

cucumber

Greek yoghurt (or a dairy-free alternative)

Combine the red pepper, shallots, garlic, lemon peel and ginger in a large bowl. Squeeze the carrots to remove the excess juice then add to the bowl.

Place the chickpeas in a food processor and whizz for a few seconds until broken down and crumbly. You don’t want a puree so don’t blend too far. If you don’t have a food processor just crush with chickpeas with the back of a fork.

Add the chickpeas to the bowl along with the garam masala, cumin and ground coriander.

Add the egg and mix well then sieve over the flour and mix again.

Shape into small discs and fry for around 3 minutes a side in a little olive oil.

When cooked remove and place on kitchen paper to cool.

To make the tzatziki combine the cucumber, garlic and yoghurt in a bowl. Top the fritters with the chopped coriander.

Rustle up this omelette for your little one. Suitable from 6 months, it's a great first food to get weaning children familiar with new tastes and textures

Easy kids’ omelette

butter

tomato

oregano

cheddar cheese

Melt half of the butter in a frying pan then add the tomato and oregano, cooking it for 2-3 minutes. Remove to a plate and wipe the frying pan clean.

Whisk the eggs together, melt the remaining butter in the frying pan then add the eggs.

Cook on a low heat, using a spatula to lift the sides up and allow the raw egg to escape out the sides (this gives you a fluffier omelette).

After 2 minutes place the tomato and cheese across half of the omelette. Cook for a further minute then remove from the heat. Flip the free half of the omelette over the tomato and cheese half.

Cut into fingers for baby to serve themselves.
