Strawberry Spinach Smoothie

spinach

banana

strawberries (about 10 large/medium berries)

pineapple

almond milk

chia seeds

Place all of the ingredients in a high powered blender in the order listed: spinach, banana, strawberry pineapple, almond milk, and chia seeds.

Blend until smooth. If you’d like a thinner smoothie, splash in a bit more milk. For a thicker smoothie, add a few handfuls of ice. Enjoy immediately, or place in an airtight jar and refrigerate for a few hours.

This combination of ingredients is sure to kick-start sleepy metabolisms. Packed with fiber, water, and protein, and tons of nutrients proven to aid with weight loss. It's a delicious combination that makes a healthy metabolism boosting breakfast!

Metabolism Boosting Smoothie

strongly brewed green tea

coconut milk (canned, full fat)

spinach (fresh

banana (green, peeled and frozen)

grapefruit (peeled, frozen)

pineapple (chopped, frozen)

whey protein isolate

Add all ingredients to a blender, starting with liquids and greens, and adding frozen fruit, ice, and protein powder to the top.

Blend until ultra creamy. Add extra green tea or water if you like a thinner smoothie.

This recipe makes 2 smoothies, because I have found it is easier to blend 2 portions rather than just one in my blender. If you don't have someone to share it with, freeze half and drink it the next day. I find the texture is still great if I let it sit out for about an hour before I drink it, and stir well.

I can't remember if I've already commented on this recipe...but I had to again, just to be sure! I LOVE this smoothie. What's funny, though, is I can't stand grapefruit, and I usually only like celery in soups! But my body was craving not-so-sweet smoothies, so I did a search through the SGS smoothies and came up with this one (admittedly, the "fat burning" part caught my eye too :). I decided to take the plunge and check it out, and it has actually become one of my favorites, which is still a shock to me. It's light but filling, and I love that you can adjust the sweet-tart ratio by adjusting the grapefruit and pineapple. This one is going in regular rotation.

I am desperate to loose weight, I like the simplicity of this recipe and it makes sense. The taste is not the best, but I can do it to loose weight. I have found that the older I get the harder it is to loose weight, I am 61 now. We adopted a year old puppy for company on walks. But I have no energy, I was hoping the combination of the dog and this smoothie get me moving.

I like this smoothie and have used it as a snack as well as added protien powder to make it a meal.  I have a tendency to fall into a very low calorie intake trap on occasion and this smoothie has helped me keep my cal intake closer to where it should be without being heavy I  my system.
I am however wondering what can be substituted for the pineapple.   I  have tried doing half cup frozen blueberries with half cup mango.  Is this okay or is there something about the pineapple that makes this smoothie work better?

1 cup of spinach
1 grapefruit (1/2 a grapefruit if it is large) (swap with orange if you don't like grapefruit)
1 cup green tea
1 stalk of celery
Fresh Mint
1 cup of frozen pineapple 
1/4 of an avocado

Fat-Burning Green Smoothie for Weight Loss

A delicious Greek yogurt smoothie made with healthy ingredients like strawberries, banana, oatmeal and peanut butter. Packed with protein to keep you full!

Greek Yogurt Smoothie

strawberries (about 10 large berries

Greek yogurt

oatmeal

peanut butter or almond butter

honey

Water almond milk (as needed)

Ice (optional)

Place all of the ingredients but the ice in a blender: strawberries, banana, Greek yogurt, oatmeal, peanut butter, and 1 teaspoon honey.

Blend until smooth. Depending upon the size and power of your blender, you may need to stop it and scrape down the pitcher a couple of times. If the mixture is too thick to blend, splash in a little water or almond milk, stir to move the contents of the blender around, and blend again; if it is too thin, blend in a few ice cubes. Taste and add additional honey if you would like the smoothie sweeter. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
