Lemon Ginger Turmeric Wellness Shots

JUICER: To a juicer, add orange, lemon, turmeric, and ginger (depending on the juicer, you may need to peel the orange and lemon - our Hurom does recommend peeling before juicing, so that&#039;s what we did). 

BLENDER: Add turmeric and ginger to a high-speed blender or small blender. We prefer the Nutribullet. Then add the juice of the orange and the lemons (this helps the mixture blend easier, and removes the pulp/rind). A juicing tool like this or this can help! Blend on high for 30 seconds.

Add a little water if it has trouble blending but you shouldn't need any. Then strain through a clean thin dish towel, small fine mesh strainer, or nut milk bag. Just be aware that turmeric can stain.

FOR SERVING: Divide between serving glasses and enjoy! For maximum benefits, enjoy immediately and top with fresh cracked black pepper. One commenter also recommended adding a little fat to improve turmeric absorption, such as olive oil!&nbsp;

FOR STORING: Store any leftovers covered in the refrigerator up to 24 hours (though best when fresh).

LEFTOVER PULP: You can compost any leftover pulp or freeze into an ice cube try and add to future smoothies. Or, refrigerate and use to steep in things like my Ginger Turmeric Tonic!

Ginger Turmeric Shots Recipe

Prepare ingredients

Prepare all of the ingredients for easy assembly. Juice the lemons. Get the powdered turmeric and powdered ginger, if fresh is unavailable, as well as pepper.

Prepare your Magic Bullet or any other grinder you have at home. Using a blender or bullet, pour lemon juice in, and add ginger slices, turmeric, and black pepper. 

Add olive oil and mix

Add a spoonful of olive oil or your fat choice into the glass. Close the jar of the magic bullet and mix it all thoroughly until a smooth consistency. 

Pour and enjoy

Once all is thoroughly mixed, pour it either into one just or single-shot glass jars, which you can store in your refrigerator.

Ginger Shots Recipe

(50 grams) fresh ginger root

(120 grams) lemon juice

(60 grams) water ((or use coconut water

cayenne pepper ((or ground black pepper))

(60 grams) orange juice

(60 grams) pineapple juice (Use this is instead of 1/4 cup water)

(60 grams) lime juice

(60 grams) cherry juice (Use this is instead of 1/4 cup water)

wash and chop ginger

Wash fresh ginger root as you would a potato, with water and a cloth to scrub off debris. Then chop fresh ginger into chunks, just small enough to blend.

squeeze 4 lemons or measure juice

Squeeze 4 lemons to gather 1/2 cup of lemon juice, or measuring it out from a bottle of pure organic lemon juice.

Add all ingredients to a blender or use a juicer. Blend or juice the chopped ginger, lemon juice, water and pepper.

How to Make Ginger Shots

Freeze pulp

Rinse the ginger and turmeric roots, peel them, and chop them roughly. Peel and slice the lemon and orange, removing the bitter white pit and any seeds.

Transfer the ingredients to a powerful blender or food processor, pour in the water, and blitz all into cloudy, deep yellow juice.

Now, strain the ginger turmeric juice through a fine-mesh sieve, collecting as much juice as possible into a cup or pitcher.

Divide the turmeric juice among small sealable vials (like empty spice pots) to make single-serving shots, allowing 60 ml (2 fl oz) of juice per pot. Tip a pinch of black pepper in each vial (to boost turmeric absorption), seal, and shake well.

Squeeze 2 oranges to get ½ cup of orange juice. Also, squeeze about 3 limes (or 2 lemons) for ¼ cup of juice.

I love this recipe! I’ve been making it for about a year. I didn’t have coconut water but I did have aloe juice so I used it in place of the coconut water. Turned out great.

First time trying this recipe and its a keeper. For future reference can you substitute the pineapple for a different fruit as season goes on it may not be as easier to find in supermarket.  thanks 😊

Looks like a lovely recipe, curious though, can I just use my juicer to juice all the ingredients or do I have to use a blender?

Thank you for another healthy and inspiring recipe Ela!  I used half and half ginger and turmeric, as I'm trying to control arthritis pain.  Do I need to add black pepper as well as cayenne, and is it supposed to taste hot and spicy, or did I overdo it do you think?  I did add a little maple syrup, but might try wizzing up one or two dates with the next batch, to make it compliant with Dr Greger's guidelines, do you think that would work okay?
