How to Make Whipped Coffee (Dalgona Coffee)

Add all the coffee, sugar and boiling water in a bowl (you can easily double or triple this recipe). Using a hand mixer or stand mixer and whip on one of the higher speeds.

Whip the entire mixture for about 2 minutes. Scrape down the sides and whip any bits that didn&#039;t get whipped.

Taste (it&#039;ll be very strong! But of course diluted with your milk) and add more sugar IF desired. I&#039;ve seen some people add another tablespoon of sugar, but it was fine for me. Remember it&#039;ll be diluted with the milk!

Add the coffee to a tall glass (about 8 ounces/1 cup) of your favourite milk. I&#039;ve tried it with soy milk, almond and oat milk. If you&#039;re doing iced, add a few ice cubes, then the milk, then spoon the whipped coffee on top. If using hot, just add it to the glass.

Using your spoon or straw, stir vigorously to swirl it into your milk.

Combine instant coffee, sugar and hot water in a mixing bowl. Mix them well. Then using a handheld mixer (stand mixer or milk frother) whisk it on high speed until the coffee mixture forms a stiff peak (2-4 mins). If you don’t have any of these tools, you can whisk it manually by hand. It still works! Just whisk it about 400 times.

Add the ice cubes in a mug then pour over the milk. Scoop out the whipped coffee on top of the milk. Serve.

Using a large mixing bowl, combine the instant coffee, sugar and hot water. You can either whisk everything together by hand, or use an electric hand mixer. Whisk until all of the ingredients are combined and continue whisking until it develops into a creamy, glossy caramel color and can form soft peaks. For the Dalgona Coffee

Make simple syrup: Bring the sugar and the water to a boil over medium to medium-low heat. Stir until all of the sugar is fully dissolved. Lower the heat to low and let sit there for a minute or two, and then turn off the heat.

Using an electric hand mixer (you can whisk by hand but will have to do so pretty vigorously if you do this by hand with a whisk), beat the egg whites until they get frothy. With the electric hand mixer still going, slowly pour in the simple syrup and keep whipping until the eggs start to turn white and form soft peaks.

Add in the matcha powder and continue to whip on high until all of the matcha is combined (I also used a rubber spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl to incorporate everything) and everything is smooth and creamy. Be careful not to over whip or everything will get runny.

Place some ice cubes into your desired glass. Pour in your milk of choice (I love oat milk with this) and top with the whipped matcha. Feel free to sprinkle on some matcha powder if desired, stir together and enjoy! I think this was enough whipped matcha for two drinks.

In a bowl, add the instant coffee and the sugar. Mix with the whisk to combine.

Add the water, one tablespoon at a time. Depending on the granulation of your sugar you might not need all the water or might need just a little more so keep an extra tablespoon of water on hand.

Start mixing with the whisk, pressing it against the wall of the bowl to break the sugar granules. The process of breaking the granules with a circular motion, while mixing with the water and instant coffee will create the froth.

Keep adding water whenever the mixture becomes too thick. You want it creamy and foamy but not too dense.

Keep mixing until all the sugar is melted and you can no longer feel any granules.

Add ice cubes to a glass, fill with milk 2/3 through the top then top the milk with whipped coffee.

Take coffee, sugar and  hot boiling water in a mixing bowl.

Using a small whisk begin to whip and beat till the mixture is creamy and thick.

Use two ways of beating the coffee. First beat clockwise and then use vertical zig-zag motions. Alternate between the two. If the bowl is small, then slightly tilt the bowl and beat.

To whip, can also use a small blender or mixer-grinder or a hand-held mixer (which is used for whipping cream or making cake batter).

I recommend using a small bowl and hand mixer with just 1 whisk attached to make less of a mess. The foam should hold a similar consistency to whipped cream with somewhat stiff peaks -- and turns a subtle golden-brown color. It can take a while (5 to 6 minutes of beating) to become fluffy.

Pour milk into a glass filled with ice cubes, then scoop the pillowy mixture on top of the cold milk!

A coffee-free twist on the famous Dalgona Coffee: Dalgona Chocolate! Perfect for hot chocolate or chocolate lattes.

Vegan Dalgona Chocolate

aquafaba (80 milliliters)

¼ tsp cream of tartar

cocoa powder

tbsp sugar (12 grams)

non dairy milk, cold or heated (240 milliliters)

chocolate shavings

Using a stand mix or hand held mixer, whip aquafaba in a medium to large bowl until stiff peaks form. 

Sift in the cream of tar tar and continue to whip for another 1 minute. Sift in powdered sugar and whip for another minute. Lastly, sift in the cocoa powder and sift for another 2 minutes, or until soft peaks form. Use a spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl if needed. 

Dalgona Chocolate

Add instant coffee, hot water and 1 tbsp of sugar into a cup and mix until sugar is completely dissolved. Add 1 cup of ice and then slowly pour in the non dairy milk to achieve layers of coffee and milk. If you want a warm latte, omit the ice. Top with whipped chocolate and serve. 

To Make a Latte

Hot Version: Warm up 1 cup of non dairy milk and then add whipped chocolate on top. 

Cold Version: Add 1 cup of ice to a glass and pour in 1 cup of milk. Then top it off with whipped chocolate. 

To Make Whipped Hot Chocolate

Transfer whipped chocolate into ice cube trays or a freezer safe container. When ready, pop the whipped chocolate out of the ice cube trays (or scoop it out of the container) and add to any drink!
