Blue Plate Beef Patties

egg, room temperature

onions

bread crumbs

mustard

beef

jar (12 ounces) beef gravy

water

horseradish

mushrooms,

parsley,

In a large bowl, beat the egg; stir in onions, bread crumbs and mustard. Add beef and mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into four 1/2-in.-thick patties.

In an ungreased skillet, cook patties until meat is no longer pink, 4-5 minutes on each side; drain.

In a small bowl, combine gravy, water and horseradish; add mushrooms. Pour over patties. Cook, uncovered, until mushrooms are tender and heated through, about 5 minutes. If desired, sprinkle with parsley.

The patties were moist and the gravy was very good. It was a nice change of pace from regular burgers. I only used pound of beef since there are two of us, so I cut back a bit on the breadcrumbs and onions. This one is a keeper.

Made this last night, followed recipe exact with the exception of sauteed the mushrooms before adding the gravy.Although the beef patties were nice and moist, they definitely need seasoning, found them very bland. Thank you Phyllis!

Very tasty.  I did use Pioneer gravy packet (love them not so salty and taste more like homemade).  Will definitely make again soon.  Think next time I'll try over some noodles with butter and onions.

My husband and I enjoyed it very much, we liked the little kick it had, I too used the Pioneer gravy packet and a little Meyer lemon juice, otherwise it's a dish I will make again!

I followed the recipe almost to a T. However, for the gravy I added a pinch of dried thyme and some mrs. dash garlic and herb it definitely makes the flavor pop more.

Basically this is salisbury steak with a bite. Noone cared for mustard in it at all. Good for variety but not for our family.

We liked the flavor of this. Used only 1 pound of beef & 2 cans of mushrooms in place of the fresh.

I made this exactly as written and it was very bland and boring.

I copied this recipe from a "Taste of Home" magazine several years ago, and it has become a family favorite. The mustard in the patties and the horseradish in the sauce really add flavor! Still rather mild in flavor, it is comforting home cooking. *Do make the patties thick - it makes a tasty difference!

Tried these last night and my husband said I can definitely make these again!  They are a keeper.

This is delicious! Easy to ake, it has a wonderful flavor. A great family dinner nd for casual company. I made it  little bit easier by using canned mushrooms.

I clipped this out of the magazine forever ago - and just found it again. This is now my son's new favorite - easy, hot and hearty.

We are not big fans of horseradish. Do you taste it when cooked?

Nice change from meatloaf or regular hamburger for an easy meal.

This has become a regular dish in our home.  Both my husband and I enjoy the taste that the horseradish gives the gravy.  I also prepare it often for dinner guests who always rave about it.

Very tasty recipe. Used powdered gravy mix and will try it with the jarred sauce next time. Made it without mushrooms and it was still very good!

These are wonderful... the gravy over mashed potatoes is excellant.really easy to make.

This has become one of our favourite meals, served with mashed potatoes and green beans.  Yum! Yum!  The gravy is excellent!

This is really easy to make i make just a big meat loaf and bake it for about 45 min.to 1 hour
