Step 1

Layout 3 pieces of heavy-duty aluminum foil. You can also use a piece of parchment paper as the first layer if desired.

Step 2

Leave the skin on the banana and slice through the banana to the skin on the other side, but not all the way through.

Step 3

Fill the split with chocolate chips, marshmallows, and any other fillings you want.

Step 4

To fold the packets, bring the two longest edges of foil towards each other and roll them together to create a seal. Then, fold in the sides. Repeat the same folding process two more times for a total of three pieces of foil per packet.

Step 5

Move some hot coals from the fire aside and place the banana boats on top of the coals. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, flipping about halfway through. The banana boats are done when the banana becomes soft and the filling is melted.

Step 6

Once done, carefully remove from the heat and open the packets. They will be hot!

Step 7

Top with crushed graham crackers or use whole graham crackers for dipping into the gooey melted banana boats.
