In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup. Cook, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved. Then cook without stirring until it reaches a hard crack stage (300) on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat, add flavoring and enough food coloring to color. Stir only to mix. (Mix fast.) Pour into well buttered 9 inch pans. When cool enough, break into pieces. Dust pieces with powdered sugar to keep from sticking . Recipe Note Can divide syrup in half to make different flavors. (Use only 1/4 teaspoon of flavoring oil per half batch if dividing.) While mixing one, keep the pan with the other half of syrup on stove on low heat to keep from turning hard.
