Adele, your comment from June 18th is just plain blah. If you don&#039;t make guacamole, and your family doesn&#039;t like it, why are you even bothering to comment? People like and want guacamole, they don&#039;t want to see a lecture on nutrition. Put a cork in it!
On the positive side, I really like this recipe, but I only used half of the mayonnaise... Just enough to make it a little creamy. According to Adele, I am living vicariously! LOL. But I have been able to get some really excellent Haas avocados at the store lately, and they are huge and solid when I buy them. I will buy 5 at a time, leave them in the bag that I put them in and put it on the lowest shelf in my refrigerator. They will keep for days and not start to go bad. I love this stuff on a toasted everything bagel for breakfast. With coffee and some fruit, it&#039;s a filling and nutritious meal. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

This is a great guacamole.  It really tastes good and it is easy to prepare.

Why was this recipe titled 1-step Guacamole in the newsletter? Please don&#039;t mislead your readers, it&#039;s absolutely not a 1-step guacamole. It takes 1 step just to peel the avocado. Counting the peeling chopping, cubing, mincing, seeding, squeezing, mashing and stirring, it&#039;s at least a 10-step Guacamole. Easy and quick, yes. 1-step, no way.

8 g of fat and 90 cal per quarter cup.  What isn&#039;t said here is that there are 9 cal per gram of fat, which in this case, means 72 cal are fat calories.  The percentage of calories from fat (which I calculate to be 80%) is far too high for my liking. Also, I expected adding the mayonnaise adds calories from fat, and there is no indication whether the calculations were made using mayonnaise or not.  I wouldn&#039;t make this, or any guacamole for that matter. I&#039;m the only one in our house who likes it, so it wouldn&#039;t be worth my effort.

I had never heard of putting mayonnaise in guacamole. I tried the recipe and will never make it this way again. A simple way to make guacamole ... and I always get great reviews about it ... is to mash the avocados, add salt and cumin to taste. Sometimes I might add a little chili powder. That&#039;s it ... A clean and simple guacamole. And to keep guacamole green, if you&#039;re not using it right away, spread it in a container so there are no air bubbles and add a quarter to a half an inch of water to the top. Next day, gently pour the water off and you&#039;ll have green guacamole again!

Delicious! This was a hit with my family. I knew it would be because Joan Hallford is the cook! I love every one of Joan’s recipes that I have tried. In fact, I almost scrolled through this one, and then I saw her name. Glad I did! It’s a keeper! Thank you, Joan!

Great recipe.  To help it from getting dark just put the pits of the avacado in the container you want to store it in.  It&#039;s not perfect but it sure helps.

Never heard of/or had quac with mayo! Yuk.  Use salsa!!
