Step 1

Combine all the ingredients of the batter, stir to mix well and strained.Wet a steaming tray and place it on a steaming rack in a wok filled with water. Heat up the water on high heat.Place a piece of cling film over the tray, make sure the cling film is larger than the tray and hangs over all the sides of it. Add in a layer of the batter to cover the entire surface of the tray. If you are using fillings, you also also add them on top of the batter at this point.Cover the wok and allow the batter to be steamed on high heat for approximately 3 minutes.Combine all the ingredients for the dipping sauce in a pot and cooked it over a small flame till it boils. Once boiled, remove and set aside.Once the batter is cooked, remove the cling film from the hanging sides carefully and place it on a work surface (be careful as it is very hot and make sure your worktop can withstand such heat!) Using one end of the cling film, roll up the chee cheong fun outwards till the end.Cut away the sides (if you prefer a neater look) and into smaller pieces (if desired). Serve hot with the dipping sauce and garnish serving.

Kennedy August 13, 2017 at 12:48 am · ReplyThank you for this, I agree how difficult can this be”, yet like you I have done this twice, still not happy.. I cant believe that there are so many ways to do this, fry, steam and even microwave. I am a cast iron cook and do crepes on these pans with success.. So I used my cast iron, even a no stick pan and each crepe stuck!! I was so tempted to add an egg to the batter! Lol The steaming method worked better, I used two casserole dishes, but found after each baking, had to clean and scrub the pan.. Hmmm! Not giving up yet as the results were delicious just not pretty to look at! I have watched so many videos on this! Trang January 16, 2018 at 4:15 pm · ReplyWhat kind of cling film (cloth) is?Thanks, Trang Eat What Tonight January 16, 2018 at 4:19 pm · ReplyHihi Trang, its a plastic cling wrap meant for food wrapping. Good quality ones allow for heat resistance to cover foods during re-heating or microwaving. :)
