Step 1

Brown 2 pounds of lean ground beef, add diced onions, and cook a few minutes more. Drain any excess grease off of the meat.

Step 2

Add 4 Tablespoons of Homemade Taco Seasoning mix (see recipe link in Notes) or 2 packets of store-bought seasoning. Add 2 cans of tomatoes with green chilis. Simmer until the liquid from the tomatoes has been absorbed.

Step 3

Use a slow cooker liner for easier cleanup or spray your slow cooker with non-stick spray. Layer 1/2 of the hamburger mixture in the bottom, slice the cream cheese, and put half of it on top of the hamburger layer. Followed by 1/2 cup of shredded cheese. Repeat layers.

Step 4

Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 2 hours, until it’s hot and bubbling.
