Step 1
To make the pastry, sift the flour and baking powder into a medium bowl. Use your fingertips to rub in the dairy spread until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in sugar and make a well in the centre. Add the egg white and water, and use a round-bladed knife to mix together using a cutting motion until the mixture begins to cling together. Use your hands to press the mixture into a disc. Wrap in plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 20 minutes to chill.
Step 2
Preheat oven to 210°C. Combine the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in a bowl and mix well. Reserve 2 teaspoons of the sugar mixture. Add walnuts to the remaining sugar mixture and mix well.
Step 3
Cut the pastry disc evenly into 4 wedges. Place a pastry wedge between 2 sheets of non-stick baking paper and use a rolling pin to roll out to a round-edged triangular shape (each side should be about 20cm long). Arrange a quarter of the apple wedges in the centre of the pastry and top with two plum halves. Sprinkle a quarter of the walnut mixture over the fruit. Brush the pastry edges lightly with water. Bring all the corners into the centre and press the edges together to seal. Place on a large non-stick baking tray. Repeat with the remaining pastry portions, apple, plums and walnut mixture.
Step 4
Brush surface of the pies with milk and sprinkle with reserved sugar mixture. Use a small sharp knife to pierce each side of the pies. Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 5
Serve hot with vanilla ice-cream.
