Step 1

Starting with the filling first as it takes a bit more time to prepare. Wash your blackberries and place them in a pot on the stove. Cover them with water, 1/2 cup is what worked well for us.

Step 2

BOIL. As the berries begin to boil you will press them with a spoon to help release juices. Once there is not any more juices to press out, remove from burner. Pour through strainer to remove seeds and pulp.

Step 3

JUICE IN POT. Pour the strained juice back into the pot and add the sugar, flour, and butter. Stir and bring to a boil.

Step 4

COMBINE the cornstarch and water together and then pour into boiling mixture.

Step 5

WHISK until this becomes thick and glossy. Set aside.

Step 6

BATTER. Mix all of the ingredients listed for your batter. Very simple. Transfer the mix to your desired dish. We used a 8x11.

Step 7

WITH SEEDS. If you do not mind seeds in your cobbler then at this point you could just scatter them across the top of your batter and throw it in the oven.

Step 8

SEEDLESS. Your blackberry filling is already prepared so you will drizzle it across the top or scoop spoonfulls and place them throughout the top of your dish. Go back in with a toothpick or butter knife and make a fancy design while pulling the filling across the batter.

Step 9

BAKE. The most time consuming part will be the baking process. Throw this in the oven at 350 degrees for about 1 hour. As always different pans/ovens can make this time fluctuate. So be sure to keep an eye on it towards the end! Pull out when its nice a golden brown on top. ENJOY!
